    Fascinating video. To be able to identify each of 19 Daleks takes some doing. That level of individualism is why 63-88 Daleks are THE true Daleks.

      A Dalek turned up at the river Avon,it was fished out of the river? this was observed by me when I was a young boy,it was a movie Dalek from the first movie?I opened the neck and it had porta flek paint inside,it was very well engineered. Nobody will believe me?they all say we must find out about the props that were produced?But no interest in this Dalek or where it went too.

      @beef business Individualism goes against everything Fascsim, what Daleks are an allegory for, is about. Uniformity and supreme loyalty to the cause without question is what it means to be Dalek. There may be special castes and groups, such as the Recon Scouts and the Cult of Skaro, but they're the exception, not the Rule. Even then, Cult of Skaro leader, Dalek Sec, and the Recon Scout clones from Revolution of the Daleks were all Exterminated for their impurity.

    The "red-top" Dalek is being stored in a closet next to the Genesis Ark at 17:10, two props from two different eras in Dalek history. There's also a New Series Cybermat hiding with the luchboxes.

    When I was a child, I remember the nursery school that I attended having a Dalek. I remember it being solidly built, you could get inside, you could also move the gun/arms from the inside and it stood by the back door. This would have been around 1970 and I was only about 2 then. So my memories may not quite match reality. The nursery school is still there in Cookham Rise, Berkshire. I am not sure about the Dalek, but Pinewood Studios is only about 11 miles away.

      Completely normal for interviewees on UK TV up until about the 1980s.
      It's gone so far the other way now that even in drama scenes set in, for example, a pre-1980s cinema there may not be a single smoker. For anyone who remembers the fug being so thick that you could see the projector beam, this is completely unrealistic.

    I saw Terry Nation in Maidstone Library in the mid seventies with two Daleks one of which was red. I think he was awarding a prize to the winner of a children's competition of some sort. Ottakars Bookshop in Milton Keynes owned a black Dalek that looked like it was from one of the films. This shop later became Waterstone's and they must have sold the Dalek because it seemed to disappear in 2018.

    • @Dalek6388
      @Dalek6388  5 лет назад +1

      Thats a great story thank you! If one of the Daleks was fully red that would place it before 1973 as that was when it was painted black to become the Supreme Dalek. Just the mention of the place may mean we can find more information, so that you for that! The Ottakars/Waterstones Daleks were all replicas made by This Planet Earth. I think there were a number of them around the country. Unfortunately at least one has been sold since and passed off as an original prop :(

    Wow! This really has opened my eyes to some information that I never knew before.
    I always thought that the Supreme Dalek seen in 'Planet of the Daleks' was simply the Gold coloured Dalek seen in the 1966 movie with a torch put on the end of it's Eye Stork plus a sink plunger put in place of it's Claw (in order to stay in keeping with continuity with the rest of the Daleks in the show) and that was that.
    But, this, wow....
    The 1965 stage play (or rather the 2009 Big Finish audio version) entitled 'The Curse of the Daleks' has always been one of my em 'guilty' pleasures (if you've heard the CD or maybe read the script you'll know what I mean...) and it was interesting to find out the connection between the movies and the stage show. Also thank you for clearing up the mystery regarding the odd looking Dalek that was used in the photo shoot with Jill Curzon, of which made me wonder ever since I was old enough to stop looking at Jill and to pay attention to more important things, such as the toy Dalek that she was shown holding in a few shots (I used to own one of the reissues but sadly I lost it in a fire at a storage depo where it was being kept while I was moving house, along with a large number of other items) and yes, the odd looking Claw that the Dalek sports in the photos.
    Just wondering, will you be covering the history of the Dalek seen in the 1970s Katy Manning photo shoot, I know that not all of the shots show her alongside the Dalek and the images are somewhat NSFW (if you get what I mean) but I would like to know a little more about it, particularly with regards to how it was decided to show the Dalek with it's eye removed from it's Eyestork, most likely this was probably meant to be a very obvious joke but I'm sure that there's a story behind it anyway.
    Just wondering, I know that you have already done a (very good) video cover some of the production aspects of 'The Chase' but it is still a confirmed fact whether or not if the larger sized Daleks seen inside the DARDIS were indeed Movie style Daleks, only with the bases removed?
    Thank you for uploading, and yes I have subscribed to your channel as well.

      Hi Christopher. Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for the memories and questions! What we know of the the Katy Manning Dalek and The Chase Daleks is all over on our main website at www.dalek6388.co.uk Although we may make videos on them in the future!

      I barely remember TV 21, but I do remember one story and a bit of another. Did you know that they did cross-over stories? One of them had Steve Zodiac from Fireball XL5 up against the Daleks from Dr Who.
      (That one is the "bit of" which I remember, because it was episodic and I only saw a bit at the end of one episode - the magazine which I found was already falling to pieces)
      In case you're interested, the other story I remember was a Fireball XL5 story where Steve tries to stop a spaceship from crashing into a planet which has an unexpectedly strong gravity field (I know, in reality he'd know the gravity of the planet long before getting to it, but this was for kids, remember).
      The attempt fails and both the other spaceship and XL5 crash onto the planet, then Steve, being the only one still relatively uninjured, has to salvage two rocket engines from the other spaceship and add them onto XL5 in order to be able to take off again.

      @@melkiorwiseman5234 You have a better memory than I have. I don't remember the Steve Zodiac/Dalek storyline I have a few TV 21, Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet annuals and I also have The Dalek Chronicles with all of the Dalek storyline in, minus the Steve Zodiac story.

    two comments for info : though I doubt that either will help uncover anymore daleks:
    you have tastefully omitted the appearance of a dalek in Katie Manning's glamour shoot;
    I remember Royce Mills' name credited on tv I think, as a dalek voice, I had noticed his name as an actor in the ITV soap "Crossroads"

    • @Dalek6388

      Thank Kai! That’s much appreciated! The music is a take on the famous incidental music in Death to the Daleks and the title of the videos is a parody on Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes. The music was done by the very talented Graeme Allan for us!

    I remember seeing a black skirted Dalek in the second forbidden planet shop in London just after it opened - they also had a head of a Nimon from the show the horns of the nimon - has thus ever been tracked down?

    • @Dalek6388
      @Dalek6388  5 лет назад

      Hmm I know of a silver skirted Dalek in one of the FP shops. It *could* have some original parts but it certainly isn’t all genuine as they seem to think it is. I’m les clues on on Nimon’s though!

    Superb video, I salute your dedicated detective work in spotting such minor details like bolt holes to uniquely identify the props!
    I do have a question (which might have been answered in an earlier video); were the Dalek props in 2150AD new for that film (excluding the Curse Daleks) or were they all reused from the first Cushing movie?

    • @Dalek6388
      @Dalek6388  5 лет назад +1

      They were all new. We have traced the fate of all the first movie props (bar one - the flame thrower one) and they were either given away as prizes or stayed on the tour. We may do a video on that in the future.

    Great video. 👍 My understanding is that the weird silver cup on the arm of that stage/movie Dalek was a plastic lampshade. I wonder why they replaced the movie dome lights on the Dalek supreme with those purple jam jar lights for Planet.
