- Diana Ankudinova's dedicated fans have been asking me repeatedly to react to her, and I totally understand why. They wanted me to get to experience what they all had! Her deep tone that she plays with so easily throughout her register - the part of her register we see in her performance of Human anyway - really makes her sound different.
Diana Ankudinova (born in 2003, so she's only 16 in this video from 2019) was on a Russian talent show called "You Are Super!", and when the TV-station uploaded her videos online she gained views from all over the world. And for good reason. I urge you to check out Diana's RUclips channel, and explore (I envy you getting to explore freely, I have to save some for future reactions).

If you search "Human" on her channel, you'll get many different performances of the song.
And I suggest you read about Diana, she has quite the impressive story both when it comes to the things she's lived through and the career she's built. I haven't dived too deep yet, but found her Wikipedia article interesting for a first look.

I know, I know, I said AnkuNdinova in the intro, and not Ankudinova. I'm sorry, I had a take where I pronounced it better, but didn't notice I had used the wrong one until I had already exported. Hope you can overlook that detail, and I swear I'll get it right the next time ;).

When she sang this song on "You're Super", she was only 15 years old.
It's not just a show, it's a social project. Where orphans who were left without a mother and father participate. In the program "You are super", only orphans participate, and there is only a live voice. It was created in order to show the whole world that orphaned children are no worse, and maybe a ray of those who grew up in a full-fledged family. And to show those people who took these children into their family, and raised them as their own.
The essence is simple, you need to sing so that at least three people would press the green button, then you go to the next round. Before the performance of each child, they show and tell his story. (it is impossible to look there without tears ), one 4-year-old girl was found in a garbage dump, where she was trying to find something to eat, her drug-addicted parents left her there to die and left.
Diana Ankudinova was found in the cold when she was 3 years old, Diana had a broken collarbone and a chest injury, she could hardly speak and stuttered a lot. Diana was sent to a shelter, where a physiotherapist-masseur adopted her. The foster mother took Diana to Laura, who advised her to take Diana to singing courses, so that her speech would develop better. That's how little Diana began to sing.
All the finalists of "You are super" (12 people) receive a cash allowance until they come of age, and pay for studies in music, variety and acting schools.
And the finalists of the super season "You are super", plus, received new apartments with furniture in Moscow as a gift. (all 12 people)
She was fifteen at the time of this performance. She is the nature, the cosmos, the Mother Earth incarnated!!
Diana has an excellent yodel, she uses this skill in all her songs, so unique and an amazing voice

All can be found on her RUclips Channel and she doesn't block or copyright, the NTV station is aggressive in copyrights for the video portion of the 7 songs she performed on You Are Super, audio is fine. (15yo) Diana has said this is her favourite song to sing because the original singer has a deep baritone so Diana's natural dramatic contralto makes this very comfortable for her to sing quite naturally! The part where Diana goes full "Shamanic" is phenomenal isn't it! Diana "Pierces your soul" with all her intense emotional songs, she is a master at it! This was an absolutely huge extravagant production for the 30th anniversary of the state independence of the Republic of Tajikistan. Diana flew out on the 8th September, and performed on September 9th, in the cultural and entertainment complex "Navruzgokh" in Dushanbe, a theatrical show "Thirty Bright Stars" took place, in which more than 20 thousand people took part. The concert was attended by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. Diana was the only Russian performer at this show as an invited guest. An enormous honor for her at 18yo! The song "Tajikistan" is a new original song specially written for this celebration. Diana's beautiful dress is an exclusive handmade national dress that was presented to her on arrival. The whole ceremony took several hours and was VERY grand! After the performance, Diana took an early morning flight back to Moscow so she could film the next episode of the new show "ШоуМАСКгоон" (She's completed filming on 5 out of 9 episodes!) Things are looking BUSY for Diana!

It is based on Russian folktales about a young betrothed orphan girl who goes to the river, the boundary between the living and the dead, to ask her deceased mother's blessing for her marriage.

Ironically, Diana herself was an orphan who was abused and abandoned by her alcoholic mother. Because of this beginning, she had speech problems and she was given singing lessons to help improve her speech. Her talent was quickly recognized and the rest is history.

I read about Diana (only briefly on Wikipedia, so not the full picture) before this reaction, as some people recommending her had told me she had an interesting story. It's heartbreaking, but it's also super impressive how she's turned her life around using her talent. I didn't know that it was her speech problems that led to her taking vocal lessons, but what a story! Thank you for sharing :)

I struggle to find the proper terms as English is my second language, and all my music studies were in Norwegian. I also want it to be accessible and not too heavy, so at first I didn’t want to do any analysis in my reactions. But now people seem to like it so I’ll keep going.

Rechenka is her best, as to me. But you could also take a look at Finicky (Stubborn) Horses, maybe next time. Did you notice that all her songs are distinct in that they convey some deep meaning, which makes Diana's performances all the more mesmerizing? She is really captivating, taking your soul and talking to it directly... taking you up into the skies, bringing back to Earth and the again into the skies. Unbelievable. ;))

You have to see her perform “Yodel Time” that was done on the kids edition of the show “The Voice”. She does an amazing job but because she was not from a wealthy family none of the judges pushed their button. It’s a amazing job by her but a disappointing thing that this show and the judges did. Thank for the reaction, I love Diana’s voice. Interesting fact that she has a polyphonic effect of her voice that sounds as if two vocals notes are coming out at the same time in much of her songs. Liked and Sub’d🙏🏼🌹

Yeah, I heard there was a HUGE public explosion and people were calling for an investigation into the show and the judges for bribery and a bunch of other stuff.
Diana was THE BEST act to have auditioned and NOBODY turned. They all had looks on their faces like 'Wow, she's amazing!' but none turned. It was SO BLATANT about the show (the people running the show) being so corrupt that REAL, ACTUAL talent was never given even the smallest chance to win.
I bet they are all pissing themselves, now!
Meanwhile, I heard that Igor Krutoy took Diana and her family under his wing and got an apartment in Moscow (which he paid for out of his own pocket) so she could be closer to the center of Russia's entertainment industry (they had been nearer the Pacific coast, FAR from Moscow). This gives Diana a REAL SHOT at making it big instead of being stuck in the boonies.
Since then, well, her channel and all the other videos on the internet tell a story of success so far.
She's a very down-to-Earth person so I really do not see any huge scandal in her future unless somebody else's scandal manages to suck her in.
She's a wonder, and a blessing to Music and the whole world.
