This is an excerpt from the Russian show "You are Super", where only orphans left without a father and mother participate. Only a live voice is used there. The principle is simple, you need to dial at least 3 green buttons to go to the next round. When Diana sang this song, she was 15 years old.
Diana was found in the entrance of the house, with a broken collarbone and a damaged chest. She was only 3 years old, the police took Diana to a shelter, where she was adopted by a physiotherapist - masseur.

Thanks for your reaction. This song is probably a difficult one to start with from Diana if you’re not used to her unique contralto voice. You should try Wicked Game (15yo) or Rechenka (14yo) for a bit more variety to her voice. Diana is a remarkable talent, but I’m sure you will discover that 🙂

@@SarahDengler This was from a show called ‘You Are Super’. It is for underprivileged children, Diana was 14yo when she first appeared. Diana was abused by her birth mother and abandoned, later she was adopted from a caring woman from the orphanage she was in. Diana could not really speak so music and singing was prescribed to help her, you could almost say that she learned to sing before she could talk! Now we have this remarkable young lady and the world is better for it.

When she sang at this show, she was 15 years old ! She's a "contralto", the lowest female range. She's also "polyphonic", which means she can sound like more than one person singing at the same time. This girl (now she's 20) blows my mind !

Greetings from Scotland! This was 15yo Diana and yes, that really is her voice, or to be precise ONE of her many voices! Diana was blessed with one of the worlds most unique Natural Dramatic Contralto voices and is capable of incredible vocal agility. She had a horrendous start to her young life (check Wikipedia for the story) but got adopted by a great family who discovered that although she could barely talk properly, she had a great voice and was pitch perfect at 5yo! She is 18yo and she has already sung in *7 languages, Russian, English, French, Spanish, German, Ukrainian and Arabic already!!!* Her RUclips channel has well over 400 excellent performances!

Diana is a contralto, which is a fairly rare female voice to begin with, but what makes her truly unique is the resonance she can put on her voice. I'm no professional singer by any means, but my voice type is a bass/baritone, and what she is doing is putting the same resonance on her voice that basses often use - raised soft palate, low tongue and very open throat. It gives it a big booming sound, even though she's not going as low as a bass singer would. Any voice type can do this, but basses use it often. A good example of another voice type using it to great effect is the operatic tenor Pavarotti.
You really should do a reaction to her song Rechenka. It's a very mystical sounding song based on old Russian lore. Someone who speaks Russian fluently could explain the song far better than I could, but her performance of it is mesmerizing.

Something cool about Diana is that she goes against the grain. Most singers tend to avoid singing in chest voice near their natural break, but instead switch to head voice well below the break so that the transition between the two seems seamless. She doesn't do that. She pushes into her break and uses it to accentuate the transition, giving it the appearance of a slight yodel. I don't particularly care for yodeling myself, but the way she uses her break is so non-typical that I love it.
