The last case like this that I recall was a women who slept with a much younger student who was a Native American, it was argued that the boy and his culture saw him as a man protecting an abused woman and if I recall the two got married. I wouldn’t be entirely surprised if this plays out somewhat similar to that situation, for now it seems to be much like the young man who got hired by his former school and ending up hooking up with a former love interest who was less than 18. It’s apparent the teacher as a minor herself was drawn to the boy. As I mentioned before hiring former students that close to their graduation is going to mean students may be drawn to former classmates for a plethora of reasons. We may mandate that the young adults who get hired should have the self control not to accept the interest of former classmates but we must be open to the fact that even adults make decisions that don’t pan out. So rather than assume it’s going to pan out we should reconsider such context. I’m not saying we consider the situation as an excuse but rather that we consider the potential of the situation.
