I wasn’t always a Honda fanboy. In fact, when I was looking to buy a new car, I was going back and forward between a BMW and my Acura CSX-S. Both were the same year, had about the same HP and were in great shape. Finally, I chose the Acura because it was more reliable on the long run, consumed less gas and the cost for repairs was way cheaper. Anyway, after getting this car, I realised that so many people dissed Honda and I wanted to know why. I researched and found that they were the best (or close to being it) in everything they did. From generators to motorbikes and from robots to… jet planes!!! Even their cars were often ranked top 10 in reliability and resale value (even top 5 this year). So why so much hate? Is it because your car isn’t reliable? Is it because you’re sick of seeing the name everywhere? Because we both know that Honda’s is a great company and will not just go away. And please don’t tell me it’s because of the ricers out there… ricers are everywhere in every make and don’t talk about torque (p.s. f1 cars don’t have that much neither). We all know a V8 will have more (no deuh!!! It has twice the cylinders!). So why? They aren’t fast? Did you see the new type R doing 7:50 on the Nurburgring?

Hey guys obviously the gtr won, but to get a car that was originally intended to be a commuter car that ran 14s, to a tuned turbo monster that runs mid 10s, is far more of an accomplishment than simply buying a car and driving it fast. BUILT NOT BOUGHT.
What about all of the R&D that went into building the GTR and all of it's electronics? The reason why that civic is fast isn't solely because of hp but because of it's light weight.
Gotta say the turbo setup on the civic looked nice! Direct outlet to intercooler is a cool idea. As far as the comparison. The civic is a track built car with no interior and a horrid sound. Also illegal on the street for more than one reason. The GTR is a far superior and nicer looking car. In the end though it's all what you like and they are both great machines! Props to the Civic owner for a unique build! Props to the GTR owner for an amazing car.

Fast lil hatch, ITB gives it a nice tough, I never seen the actual turbine out the front grill like that before, makes me wanna look under the hood, probobly from the ITb..? Nice race, about as fast as a GTR- take pride in that, and nice launch, got the Nissan on the jump. Those gear ratios must be hell to play with to find sweet spots in drags.
In the tuning scene, unique and stand-out colours are good, this is an example of that. Modifying is all about seperating your car from the norm whilst not ruining the look of it. I want to stress though that when I say modifying I don't mean the shitty fast & furious body kits, neon lights, etc kind of modifying. I mean upgrading performance, using race-spec parts, high-quality wheels and a clean, smooth look. You don't see much of these bright colours, but that's exactly why it's nice.
thats true, IDK why tho really. I prefer top mount any day, less lag, its protected and cheaper, but thats just me. im no way near the big boys league. One thing i do know is that front mount are designed for really really high HP, and because they dont need as much piping they hold boost better.

Im not a import lover..but dam that civic ran good..reality check ..a modern 600 cc sport bike do low 11s. ..a new stock GTR does low 11s. .most new domestic muscle cars do high 11s ......so that civic doing mid 10s pretty good..just respect the hard work ..money..and time people put into there cars!!!

The GT-R is like the king of racing. Getting close to the King is not something NOT to brag about. PS. There are 7 second Civics. If these cars were RWD they would probably run lower than 6 too. Some people build these tiny B18 and K20 engines to more than 1500HP.
That car had some problems on Saturday that 10 second pass was on low boost letting off...that car is a 9 second car easy...keeping watching it as its going to get faster!

You can be a little slower but if your reaction time is better you get off the line quicker and you can hold the distance and win. That's my point and why I put "times don't matter." An 8.90 could lose to an 8.99 if the 8.99 car gets to the finish line first.
Did you not see how close it was to the GTR? Considering the GTR is the best value-for-money supercar in terms of performance, and it's priced at £60-70k, what other stock car for that price of less can run that kind of time, let alone for the £20-30k or so the Civic costs to build.
I wasn't disagreeing. I know about the alpha omega gtr, I know about all the crazy fast 6 & 7 second v8's from drag week. I know about Shep racing talon. You can drive a 7 second honda on the street just like you can drive a 6 second v8 on the street which has way more modifications than that honda. Hondas don't need to be back halfed or even have a full custom chassis. They add a nice roll cage and go
They're pretty fast for a civic, but now a days it almost feels like FWD is hitting its limit as far as being a race car. They should look into new platforms like S2000.

Hold up redvetteitalia If you buy a civic or really any low end car with aftermarket support, there are infinite ways to mod your car and you have much more fun driving something that could give you a rush, also you dont have to really worry to much about driving too carefully. The gtr is a pretty expensive for your everyday joe who wants to have fun. So really the low end cars that most peolle can buy are the real drivers car
