There are plenty of Honda's running 8s... The holes in the bumper help promote airflow on the drag strip, the bumper is a huge air-trap when going down the quarter mile. Evos and STI's are excellent cars as well, but you have to admire the hard work and customization that went into this beast. Honestly, I don't care what make a car is, as long as it's fun to work on and drive.
its only partially awd. its the same system from the crv. meaning its fwd until there's wheel spin. then i t can send some of the power to the rear. even if it was locked (or welded) in the center. both front and rear diffs are open. thus under extreme conditions its only 2wd. but this is the world of awd vs 4wd vs 4x4 vs realtime awd
Johnny Salvattore well the way the crv one works is that it has an output shaft going rearward out of the transmission, then at the the rear diff theres a viscous coupler. when both front and rear are moving at the same rate, the viscous coupler isnt actually sending power to the rear diff. but when theres slip in the front, the coupler binds and sends power to the rear diff. im not sure how this one is done. but most awd civics ive seen make use of the oem awd parts from the crv's awd system. if you find out more info on it id love to hear it. thanks man.
you shift not at the rpm level, but when your tires have spun thru the gear at highest mph for the gear. if we all started shifting when our wheels spun at hit rev limiter, id be in 5th going 60mph lol. dont be a dweeb and learn to drive. rev limiter is your friend, especially in circuit racing when you dont wanna up shift because a corner is coming, stay pinned and then downshift. every raced a motorcross bike? same thing
omg i went from honda to evo cause i thought they were better looking and now i want this honda!! hondas are truely the canvas of the honda world you can do absolutely whatever you want!! this proves it, iv seen rwd civics, awd civics, 1000hp civics!! honda did not expect civics to go this far...
Thank you. Just to add some info, theres not an adapter plate in this build. U mention your self, Honda does have some AWD cars so we used what honda had already done. I cant imagine us trying to re-invent the wheel. That would of brought us a BIG pain in the ( I ). Hopefully we can finish a Plug and play kit for all of friends who share the same pasion for tuning...
This is by far my favorite video on youtube. Your car is fucking gorgeous, and the music is awesome, but I don't know the name of it. I've been replaying the video for hours to hear the song, and as well to hear your car. Sweet video.
The crv is FWD until the diff senses that the front wheel speed is different to that of the rear. It then engages the clutch pack in the diff to run 4WD. Its done by oil pressure and is similar to that of a clutch pack in a CVT gearbox :)
You did good sir well built. And for those who don't understand saying similar hp rated cars getting better than 10's - ever think that gear ratio is ALSO another factor in the whole equation? (Not just motor output)
Man, this is one of the cleanest honda tune... The engine doesn't sound like a lawn mower, is this a k20? and how did your turned this car 4wD? Did you implanted CRV parts?
wow very clean and unique, is that a rear diff from a crv though? i'm just wondering...i got a b20 going b20 vtec all motor. i like your style must be a beast.
yes. Luckily other than time there wasnt much we had to spend. We are a local auto shop and that made it easier. We've done K, B, and D series AWD but this one is our baby.
just out of curiosity, what kind of transmission/differentials did you use? impressive build btw. i usually laugh when a civic wants to run it from a dig, but next time i'll think twice... o.0
Man you nailed it. I wish i could keep this comment at the top. Everyone thinks we invested a lot of money on this when in reality it was more research than anything. It's all logic and im not sure why people dont use it. Great comment my friend, you know your shit..
I believe some honda crv's are all wheel drive with k20's but i'm really shooting in the dark on that info. You would need to make that subframe mate up to the shell of whatever you're going for. A lot of cutting and welding for sure. If you can do your own fab and have the money to blow go for it.
All these ass clowns saying he could've bought this or this car is better. You lose sight on being original and having something that is outrageously built. Props to the owner and the builder. In car sense it's a crazy civic. In any other forum this is a beautiful piece of art.
B18C5 with GT28? But which transmission would fit to that thing? I did some research for an AWD Civic and everytime the transmission was the part which i couldnt solve. I am a bit concerned about cornerability. I actually really love the cornerbehavior of my Civic EP - Step on gas = Understeer. Get away from gas = Oversteer. But the drawback of the EP is, that the platform wont reach the 12 second range unless you destroy its cornerability.
I'm loving the car, if you don't mind could you link me to, or tell me what you did to this? Honestly I have no clue how to convert these cars to AWD, I would love to own an EG AWD Civic.
i agree with u oem parts ate mostly better then aftermarket, but oem parts also can have a much lower weak point. well running a car with a stock setup while ok for some like u said a lot of variables come into play for reliability. not to criticize your setup but im over 400 hp on my evo took a lot of money to set her up right, and while her oem parts are strong oem parts are not invincible..
well im an evo owner and while this car is impressive because it doesnt have your typical wheel spin combined with torque steer. All you guys saying this car is better then an evo or sti, its not are cars were designed for boost and awd. This although well put together, is a mickey mouse mix match of oem parts to make the awd system work. Given that unless they beefed up the drivetrain parts, im curious how long at 500 hp itll last in a race season. Just curious on reliability.
Damn all these people hating. Who cares what the name plate on the car is. At least you have a car guy doing some cool shit instead of talking about what they'd like to do. Good job artisticstop.
I can give a shit how much HP a car has, so long as the suspension is immaculate and the car handles like its on rails... Seen too many "fast" cars in the twisties lose it in the first turn while the tortise stayed the course...
@therealmaximus what yr is ur crv? my bro pulled a K24a1, manual crv transmission and the awd axels out of one and is planning to put them onto his crx project car. if i remember correctly 02 and up crvs have K20a2-K24a1 or a2 (depending on model)
Nope its an EP2. Has an EP3 Suspension, but weak engine(30th anniversary version or something.) I want to keep it as an daily drive and get myself an older gen Civic. Thats also why i have to go all low budget and stuff. But i am living in germany - so i wouldnt be able to visit your shop(Do you own one or not?). Currently i do not have anything and i would love it to have a stripped down EG with AWD, whose suspension etc. i can setup on myself.
so whats the process of doing this? looks like you had to custom pipe the exhaust, and the drive shaft looks off and bent right before it gets to the diff.... is your awd set up from a cr-v?
Just like i said before, under 10 is not a problem for this car. it's not running any close to full potential. You gotta understand that this is daily, full interior and whole nine yards. Another thing is, elevation. Our town is way up in the sky compared to sea level cities which makes it much easier to blow a motor due to lack of oxygen...
artisticstop which axles where used on the front? normal eg/ek/dc K swap axles, (ie is the Fwd box similar to the 4wd gearbox, in terms of front setup only? cheers
under 10 is not a problem for this car, the way is setup it's not runing at full potential. You gotta understand that this is daily, full interior and whole nine yards. Another thing is, elevation. Our town is way up in the sky compared to sea level cities...
a dude wanted to own an sti or an evo, couldnt have modded one so went on this way, put awd and turbo on then put some stickers on to convince himself that he is living his dream. nice work tho
I ran a turbo b20 with a perfect tune for a long time red-lining EVERYDAY till i sold it, the guy who bought though it would be cool to change the map i had and end up blowing the motor 2 weeks after i sold it to him...
Hey man how much does it weigh? Been looking into a similer conversion into eg/ek and was interested in the numbers? Thinking supercharged k24 - but just curious how much extra weight the awd added?
What drivetrain are you using buddy? If you could either respond here or PM me I'd appreciate it. I'd suspect RDX but I'm unfamiliar with AWD K20 setups, this is the first I've seen.
I love watching this video. Song is sweet, Launch IS F+cking SICK. Cant wait to Get mine to Dave Blundell for the tuning/Dyno when i get my rear half shaft back from the DSS. Keep IT UP. GOOD WORK>
Video starts at 3:42 skip there. I just saved 3 minutes of your life.
seriously
Mad respect for who brought this beast alive
Don't care what anyone has to say or how F'n fast it is 0-60 ext. . This thing is bad Ass!
There are plenty of Honda's running 8s... The holes in the bumper help promote airflow on the drag strip, the bumper is a huge air-trap when going down the quarter mile. Evos and STI's are excellent cars as well, but you have to admire the hard work and customization that went into this beast. AWD K20? That's one bad ass civic.
Loving the AWD......

neverknows best I don't think so.. it's true awd, I have talked to the B&C performance myself, they even sell an awd kit.
Johnny Salvattore well the way the crv one works is that it has an output shaft going rearward out of the transmission, then at the the rear diff theres a viscous coupler. when both front and rear are moving at the same rate, the viscous coupler isnt actually sending power to the rear diff. but when theres slip in the front, the coupler binds and sends power to the rear diff.
im not sure how this one is done. but most awd civics ive seen make use of the oem awd parts from the crv's awd system.
if you find out more info on it id love to hear it. thanks man.
neverknows best this isnt crv runninh gear. Stfu with crv stuff. Makes me wanna shit.
noobgamingok oh so what IS it from ?
LMAO at the AEM fuel rail that has "AEM Fuel Rail" etched into it. Branding cracks me up sometimes.
You're not missing anything until 3:30 except for a quick shot of the underside and annoying music...and then it's done at 4:00.
Its not every day you see a respectable Honda civic build, well done.
Is it a rule that all civic drivers must bounce off the rev limiter?
I always ask myself this. Lol! Maybe it's to get more speed? Or something. Idk
In this case (rare exception) Its activating the antilag system.
all vtec motors get their power off high revving
Well most motors in general do. But when you're bouncing off the rev limiter you're no longer accelerating. Respect on the build though
you shift not at the rpm level, but when your tires have spun thru the gear at highest mph for the gear. if we all started shifting when our wheels spun at hit rev limiter, id be in 5th going 60mph lol. dont be a dweeb and learn to drive. rev limiter is your friend, especially in circuit racing when you dont wanna up shift because a corner is coming, stay pinned and then downshift. every raced a motorcross bike? same thing
@artisticstop Major props! Keep up the good work! One of the best I have seen yet!
that dubstep was unbearable...i had to mute it then turn on my dubstep lol
omg i went from honda to evo cause i thought they were better looking and now i want this honda!! hondas are truely the canvas of the honda world you can do absolutely whatever you want!! this proves it, iv seen rwd civics, awd civics, 1000hp civics!! honda did not expect civics to go this far...
Please get another editor next time.
I would love to build this exact car but in a sedan with a J35 TT setup, but this is amazing as well, props on your build.
why is everyone complaining about the audio?....must have some shitty speakers or sum....lol
i agreee though..intro is way too long...edit the pulls into the video a little better and it wouldve been a solid mini clip
M-Audio BX8s . . . doesn't matter how good the speakers are if it's a "Chopped and Fucked" Remix of some top 40 crap.
ikr, i think the audio was great. i love this song
jmialma09 what song is this I heard it somewhere
Darryl MN song is by Frente
@camrsaro a stock K with a tune is about 220 hp, 250 with bolt-ons & about 300 mildly built. so a 530 turbo k sounds about right.
But in the end, it's still a Honda.
but in the end , still gonna have more hp then your car will have
Hahaha so fucking true!
but in the end, bananas.
But in the end, where's your built car?????
In my garage...
Might not be the best thing in the world or cost the most money but dosent matter
Thank you. Just to add some info, theres not an adapter plate in this build. U mention your self, Honda does have some AWD cars so we used what honda had already done. I cant imagine us trying to re-invent the wheel. That would of brought us a BIG pain in the ( I ). Now thats how its done. I knew someone would eventually do it. Instant favorite
I watched the launch 20 times, I need this in my life
that thing is crazy, i love it!!!! screams, what kind of power you makin and can the driveline take that much torque?
This is by far my favorite video on youtube. Your car is fucking gorgeous, and the music is awesome, but I don't know the name of it. I've been replaying the video for hours to hear the song, and as well to hear your car. Sweet video.

Video is awesome everything goes very well wouldn't have presented that beast in any other way .
Man, this is one of the cleanest honda tune... The engine doesn't sound like a lawn mower, is this a k20? and how did your turned this car 4wD? Did you implanted CRV parts?
Woah! One of the best iv seen! Whats the 4wd out of by the way?
thi is effn koo!! i love it. and im a domestic man. but i love all wheel drive!! what format, or base did you use to make it AWD??
BRING ON THE EVOs and SUBIES! Don't know if your AWD systems are perfected enough to compete but I'd love to see what it could do vs them.
wow very clean and unique, is that a rear diff from a crv though? i'm just wondering...i got a b20 going b20 vtec all motor. i like your style must be a beast.
yes. Luckily other than time there wasnt much we had to spend. We are a local auto shop and that made it easier. We've done K, B, and D series AWD but this one is our baby.
This is amazing and how all hondas should be, stock... What drivetrain did you swap into it?
just out of curiosity, what kind of transmission/differentials did you use?
impressive build btw. i usually laugh when a civic wants to run it from a dig, but next time i'll think twice... o.0
whats song title? this car is a work of art. i cant begin to imagine how many hours of labor, the imagination of it. Insane!
amazing job. did you use the 6 speed clutch and trans. or you use the cr-v?
Holy shit balls! I would love to have this setup in my '89 Civic Wagon!!! Beastin!!!
rear diffuser keeps air from getting trapped in the bumper so you can go fast faster. and the other is a tow hook
Not bad!! Would definitely like to see how it handles in the snow...
Man you nailed it. I wish i could keep this comment at the top. Everyone thinks we invested a lot of money on this when in reality it was more research than anything. It's all logic and im not sure why people dont use it. Great comment my friend, you know your shit..
good shit! props to the builder... my boy is trying to do this to his eg6 but on a LSV he is going to use a cr-v set up.
This is the baddest fucken Eg in the whole bloody world. Hat's off to you sir!
I believe some honda crv's are all wheel drive with k20's but i'm really shooting in the dark on that info. You would need to make that subframe mate up to the shell of whatever you're going for. A lot of cutting and welding for sure. If you can do your own fab and have the money to blow go for it.
it allows the air to flow for their wont be any drag. its basically for aerodynamics
Mad props Art. I gotta know how much was the awd conversion?
Nice, respect from the other side of the honda vw rivalry.
Reno. That Komatsu dealer is in Sparks near Glendale ave.
Epic "budget Gallardo"!!!
I salute you good sir, because you are a gangstER!
crazy build yeat at 3:44 I geeked out about the clock
Awsome car, just a random question, would it need a higher RPM gauge? At the top end it redlines so quickly
Considering this isn't a very common build yes it is special. When was the last time you saw a awd k20 powerd eg?
awesome stuff!! CR-V running gear? or custom?
All these ass clowns saying he could've bought this or this car is better. You lose sight on being original and having something that is outrageously built. Props to the owner and the builder. In car sense it's a crazy civic. In any other forum this is a beautiful piece of art.
Awsome car, awesome song I give a 5 out of 5. Plz keep new videos on it.
its either a crv rear frame or ef rear frame the crv is a civic just streched out to look like a suv but its all based on the civic
B18C5 with GT28?
But which transmission would fit to that thing?
I did some research for an AWD Civic and everytime the transmission was the part which i couldnt solve.

That is sexy, I want to do this to my EJ8 :D by the way what muffler is that? It sounds amazing with the k20
are you guys coming to sac raceway this year? really want to see this thing in person
Inspirational! I have a 93 EG... I know its alot to ask, but can you give me a list of parts used. Thanks, much love
we've done EKs before and actually we have one for sale ready to go at our shop.
it's called sail, can't remember the band, but their on red bull records
I'm loving the car, if you don't mind could you link me to, or tell me what you did to this? Honestly I have no clue how to convert these cars to AWD, I would love to own an EG AWD Civic.
I THINK I JUST FELL IN LOVE
Amazing i love the originality. Good job guys
Anymore videos?? everyone is dying to see more of this hatch!! :)
what you use as a trans and diff? CRV mayby?? sick civic bro!! i would love to do this to my RSX-s

i thought about this a longgggggg time ago, glad to see people really doin it. crv drive train?
Nice build brother no criticism on my end beautiful daily with a smart tune :D no one is gonna be able to roll up next to you disrespecting!
If Civics were AWD from the factory I would totally get one of these. I love my V8's but god damn, an AWD civic is just bad ass. I do like.
depends what kind of set up you're trying to go with. b series turbo can get you those numbers without breaking the piggy bank...
Sooo many questions what transmission did you use being the biggest one
Got to see this thing at winters warm up. Real legit.
this is the coolest car in the world how much would it cost to do the awd conversion and where could i get it done haha
depends on what setup you're trying to go for.
Nope its an EP2. Has an EP3 Suspension, but weak engine(30th anniversary version or something.) I want to keep it as an daily drive and get myself an older gen Civic.

10.1 so far, check more recent videos. This car is very much still alive and making it happen.
Wow i hate hondas but this will be the only exception. Hiw much are u into it and what donor was used?
What is that hole plate in the rear bumper? I like it. But i don't know for what that is or what it is.
artisticstop
which axles where used on the front? normal eg/ek/dc K swap axles, (ie is the Fwd box similar to the 4wd gearbox, in terms of front setup only? cheers
Do you have any more pictures of your drivetrain? How did you make the Civic AWD, I am not too educated on JDM stuff, are some things out of an S2000?
you can try Bseries, less expensive. What kind of car do you have right now?
Are you saying that because you already had all the machines and metal necessary?
under 10 is not a problem for this car, the way is setup it's not runing at full potential.

It's fast enough to have whatever title it wants.
sounds sick it sounds like a wrx and a rsx at the sametime
What drivetrain are you using buddy? If you could either respond here or PM me I'd appreciate it. I'd suspect RDX but I'm unfamiliar with AWD K20 setups, this is the first I've seen.
I love watching this video. Song is sweet, Launch IS F+cking SICK. Cant wait to Get mine to Dave Blundell for the tuning/Dyno when i get my rear half shaft back from the DSS. Keep IT UP. GOOD WORK>
any video of a launch? wana see that awd work its magic on a civic!!
Nice setup! I want my del sol like this.
Also howd you get the diff constantly engaged?? CRV diff is based on torque response!! Or you use a different diff??
Ek Hatch? we have 2 at the shop ready to go.
