Is it just me, or is that 1jz-gte powered 240sx better that 90% of the mostly v8 powered formula drift cars? And at only 450rwhp compared to most furmula drift cars running 800+rwhp. I feel as though that's why that's why it seems that the drivers have less control over their competition cars, seems like they have way too much power. I would much rather drift a lower powered car that was more balanced and forgiving.
While I agree with you, I think that the reason for the insane comp car power is that part of their competition is to be able to tandem drift. In that, the idea (which I'm sure you already know) is to lose the chaser drifting or to catch the drifter in front..so more hp = faster car and they can stick on them better. Just a thought.

Not just more HP but HP that is available at lower RPMs. Thus you could say that a V8 is more forgiving when it comes to throttle control versus turbocharged inline-6s with higher powercurves, such as the 1JZ seen here
A 240 with an Ls1 would be lighter and more balanced than one with a 1/2j. Or did you mean something else when you said balanced.
Turnt Rollins I think he meant balanced as in a car that was built specifically to your driving style. Although the 1jz is heavy and the power curve is more linear and smooth rather than where you have instant torque in a v8, I think he meant balanced as in you put in a not too big of a turbo so it kicks in at lower rpm, camber and caster adjusted to how you drive, spring rates based on what you find optimal etc. I guess a more PERSONAL car that YOU built rather than a race car that was built FOR you. I think at least. I may be wrong.

As usual kick ass driving Ryan and nice job on the single film takes with fresh rubber lines on the road. It makes the video way more authentic like that. No one nails every corner perfectly every time and specially not on the first try. But at least it looks like you didn't attempt it 20+ like some younger hoonigan videos *cough* *cough* *ken block*

Every time I need a dopamine boost I come back to this video. Thank you Andrew for creating this and Tuerck if you ever see this, I hope you realize how many drifters were born after watching this.
Initially, (without the gentlemen's agreement) the RB26DETT produces approximately 330HP at the flywheel; the amount the JZ engines produce is not that much more. Now, the 1JZ-GTE is similar to the RB26DETT even though the 1JZ is .1L smaller; the head on the 1JZ flows just as well if not better than the RB26 head. Unfortunately, the lower end of the RB26 isn't that great. However, it can be fixed by upgrading the oil pump and installing an oil baffle in the pan.
Sorry to sound like a n00b, but why does the JZ series engines always sound like they're at redline even when they're not at redline yet? I know they're screamers, but to me, they never really sound like they're actually changing pitch. Maybe it's just how the engine is? Like, it's just that wide open ear-bleeding scream all the time.

OH! Okay, that makes sense now. I've only been in one car that had a super loud waste gate (2JZ twin turbo SC300), and I was honestly too scared to pay attention. XD But thanks for the explanation! I really appreciate it.
I dont thing its the wastegate actually, I think its a dump pipe..Look them up. supposidly when they get to a certain pressure or rpm the dump exauhst opens up instead of going straight out the back.

It's just that I absolutely hate mixing manufacturers like that, which is why I now think he should've just imported a Chaser if he really wanted the ever so great 1JZ.
