I eat fast food like hamburgers and pizza sometimes but not frequently and the fact that I make home-cooked healthy meals most of the time and all my other wellness practices help me stay healthy and fit 😄

I'm going to try this, maybe not for 48 hours ;) but definitely try it for like 18 hours first.

18 hours of water fast is a great place to start with

This is the 8th Sunday in a row doing 48 hour fast on Sunday. (Eat last meal at 4PM Saturday and eat again 4PM on Monday). You stay lean with abs effortlessly !

Every week 48-hour fast in a row for several weeks is a pretty strict regimen; need to get the body used to it gradually but sounds like you are already used to it. Good for you!

@@BreeTime Last year threw in a couple 72s as well. Been doin it for the last 3 years, typically start of July to end of October, then lean bulk during winter eating every day.

@@vikingnorsefitness5727 Great! I completed my first 48 hour water fast also in this series of fasting. it went very well. Have you noticed other physical and mental wellness benefits in addition to the fitness related ones?

@@BreeTime oh hell yah, I sleep better now and my digestive issues are greatly reduced. I do at least 5,000 walking steps per day and try to do an extra few thousand steps during the day I’m fasting on Sunday, to burn extra fat. Took a bit of trial and error but now I realize you should add two teaspoons of pink Himalayan salt to a big canteen of water and SIP on it throughout the day. This keeps you from major fatigue and headaches.
I think it’s different for females, what are your experiences with fasting? Do you try not to do it around your period? How often do you fast ?

@@vikingnorsefitness5727 Thank you for sharing your experience with water fasting. Glad to hear that it was very helpful to you! I did many 18-hour and 24-hour water fasts, some for 36 hours and only couple times for 48 hours (this one was some years ago) and fasts have been very beneficial. This time tho, I have decided to do a 48-hour water fast on a regular basis. I have completed the first one and will do another one next week. After doing it a few times, I will make a video and share the details. I am also thinking of making an interim video about the process soon after the 2nd fast. I also add salt in the water like I mentioned in the video for electrolytes and take walks while fasting. It is very important to get your body used to these processes gradually tho.

Would I be able to substitute beer for water with the same results? I’m joking ;) I’ve never tried a long fast, I’ve always been afraid of losing muscle mass. Thank you for the info and the knowledge, I will definitely try it and start slowly like you suggested 🙂

Based on my research, water fasting does not burn muscles; on the contrary it helps with muscle building because it helps the body produce more human growth hormone. Starting slowly is a good approach 👍

I heard water fasting is one of the healthiest exercises for the body. I think it is also good for blood pressure. I have never done it myself, but I was in ketosis during the Atkins diet once. My only question is, how does the body react when you start to eat after water fasting? During the ketogenic diet, I was still consuming meager grams of carbohydrates. With water fasting, I assume, our body gets into survival mode. It makes me a little worried about going back to eat from not eating at all.

I've completed my first 48 hours water-fast in this series and this is how I broke the fast after: I had a Mediterranean salad with only olive oil & lemon juice for dressing and some watermelon. Then in about 3 hours, I had regular meal with protein but very little carbonhydrate that day and added some yogurt and grapes to that. So gradually going back to eating this way worked great for me. Starting with a small portion of food, vegetables, fruit or broth is a good idea in general.
