- #DragonBallSuper was a fairly decent series...but #SuperDragonBallHeroes was not. However, after Episode 12, it turned a corner and has made us think. Should we care about this franchise? Might this be the sign of a revival of Cooler in the main timeline? There are lots of questions to be had here! #DragonBallHeroes

Seeing as Toyable, someone who made Dragon Ball AF is making Dragon Ball Super, therefore becoming an official staff member to the Dragon Ball team, there's one thing that I want to see from DBH, and one thing alone.

Because a lot of the fanservice in Super "especially the designs of the forms" make sense. Super went out of it's way to expand the universe and make up new concepts with it's fanservice. Super isn't throwing SSJ3 and 4 on literally every Saiyan ever like the worst fanfics out there. That's the difference.
And yeah, it's fanservice, that's why it shouldn't be so popularized as something that's positive for the series as a whole. Toyble is already enough of a threat to the series.

Lets establish a thing or two
Toriyama doesn't care AS much about merchandising as the company. GT was done with merchandising in mind that's why everything was so overdesigned. He actually cares about the story, this ain't here in the states where every individual making something ever only cares about the almighty dollar. Big time mangaka with long running stories usually have at least an ounce of passion for their story.
Also they don't need multipliers to make sense they just need to be built out of concepts or rules from the series.
Golden Frieza is perfect for the same reason SSJG is - it's design is exactly how transformations work in Z, no matter what it always goes for the simple. Cooler's 5th form was always dumb and made no sense, if Frieza was to ever have a form further than his final it would have to be simpler as all transformation eventually leans. Toriyama even stated the express reason he chose to design Golden that way was because he couldn't think of any ways to make it even simpler. It's the same reason when an artist passed him the first draft of SSJG and it was bulky with big hair and a cape he said no a made extra work for himself designing SSJG back and forth because that's how transformations work. On top of that this was the first time Frieza ever transformed forward from his natural state (final form) instead of releasing forms he used to take him back. Besides, Frieza is literally the forms guy, if anyone is going to get a new form that isn't a Saiyan form it's gonna be him. Plus as stupid unnaturally powerful as he is, having him train at all is literally bound to give him a new form.
SSJ Rage is the easiest one, we literally saw step by step what things build up to Rage. He starts the arc showing off he can go SSJ2, and when he fights Vegeta we see he has learned to also go max power/ultra/grade 3 while in SSJ2 (also a big deal we never saw before). Then when he goes Rage he literally does those things to push for God Ki. We see him go bulky on SSJ2 and then put God Ki with it. If you're gonna ask how he learned it, I mean he literally started exclusively meditation and energy control training after telling Vegeta he'd get stronger right after he showed him Blue for the first time, and considering literally Rage and the use of God Ki was the only thing in and out of battle that DIDN'T surprise him - he knew what he was trying to do in that moment, he just had to use his highest form and full power and a motivating push to actually achieve it unlike Goku and Vegeta can just pop it on full regardless of form. It's literally just God Ki on SSJ2 whereas Blue is God Ki on SSJ1. Technically it's multiplier has to be 2x Blue
Rose - They literally said that it was the exact same thing as Blue just a Kai's God Ki. It doesn't contradict anything and establishes Kai as having a special or more pure form of God Ki which makes sense given that Kai are the only natural born beings in all the universes literally born with God Ki.
Berserker Kale and Broly? I mean we had so much shown and said about it. We saw her able to master it and condense it like full power SSJ meaning it's not a stacked limit break form like 2 or 3 and that it is a state of 1 (like the ascended forms) and Vegeta called it the truest power of a Saiyan enforcing that fact. We also saw Broly go into grade 3 soon as he hit SSJ (SSJ1 doesn't bulk you up that hard or give you white eyes) and we watched him go right from there up into Berserk showing a clear upgrade from that form. Berserk is the max limit of bulking up from SSJ1. Ascended was simply 100% while in SSJ and Ultra was the whole anime trope of "you surpass your body's limiters for a true 100%" Berserk clearly is the next upgrade to that yet having to break your mind to get it - not to mention every user so far has been explicitly weak minded. There's nothing about the form that didn't make sense.
Fury Broly? It's literally SSJ4 done right without bad overdone design. People have accepted the idea of using the great ape's power in base form, Toriyama just did that in a sensible way finally.
Literally all of these things have basis in prior series' they aren't just out of nowhere they all come from somewhere and advance real concepts set up from the series. Heroes just goes 'lawl lets do everything ever' purely for fanservice over any sort of continuity. That's the difference.

Dragon Ball Heroes is in a way something that was created for the lifelong fans of the series, but when this anime came out with the first episode featuring SSJ Blue Goku vs SSJ4 Goku it was good at first but then a few episodes later I think it just went over the top and became unnoticeable. But when I heard about the reaction of Episode 12 it peeks my interest.

I dont get how fans can like it when all they pump out is bad fanfic concepts. Its fun to look and laugh at for like two seconds, "haha they have SSJ forms cool" before going "nah yeah that's awful plot how funny". Yet some people take it seriously and say things like they want Cooler in canon, when the idea of Frieza's extended family has always been one of the dumbest things out there. Let alone the stupid use of hypothetical forms on everyone. Even their what ifs aren't written well.
I'd love to get Cooler to be reintroduced. Both Battlemode and Android. My favourite DB villain. It would be cool if he were integrated in the canon in some form or another. Even if he's say no longer brother but just another Frieza race character from a universe or timeline out there.
I'm not really into Dragonball Heroes, but I can appreciate the attempts that the Dragon Room put into their work.
What if Radiz went with Goku to Earth as young children? What if Krillin was a girl? Or if Bulma was a boy? What if Gohan had a twin brother or sister? Or if Gohan was a girl? What if Goku landed in another country?

One thing I find very funny in Heroes Dragon Balls and that the producers and writers have creative freedom to put what they want, this can be something very good if well taken advantage of. DBH can be an input to adapt Alternative Universes and get excellent ideas from other writers, and even fans and adapt these good things to TV and if it is really good to add to the canonical material.

I always liked Cooler, he's so underrated, I always used to use him in Budokai Tenkaichi, I felt so cool surprising people and winning with him xD
The last episode actually had a REALLY good animated fight between Goku and Hearts.
I'd love to support the series in the future but as long as it's with FUNimation here in the west I can't.
I really want a Cooler reboot. make him the disowned and banished son of King Cold, make him a guy who is brother is terribly afraid of. imagine that scenario, Frieza, swallowing his pride and going to Goku and Vegeta for help. Imagine if he got a "Silver" form to both rival Frieza's golden form and also a be a nod to his Metal Cooler form from the second movie. if done right he can become the most deadly villain of the franchise and give Frieza a reason to become not a complete good guy but perhaps an anti hero. the possibilities are endless.

This reminds me of what Star Wars is doing with their Legends characters/events. Basically taking old non canon stuff and bringing over to canon, but with new elements.
If I ever wanted to see Cooler again, I feel like having him as another universe counterpart to Frieza/Frost or maybe King Cold. It'd give us an excuse to see more of the other universes. Perhaps he conquered stuff like Frieza until the God of Destruction of that universe reigned him in. Cooler could be a calculating villain pretending to be reformed. Think Frieza combined with Frost and a bit of Zamasu. He could even oddly relate to Goku in that he wants to be free to fight however he pleases.

I love heroes. It would be amazing if they could incorporate alot of the characters and ideas into the anime. The way dragonball is set up right now we can have New stuff for the next twenty years.
I been saying the same thing. If they had full length episodes i think sdbh would be better received. I loved seeing Cooler, ss4 Goku, and the new characters and i would love to see more old and new characters. Sdbh is wacky but still alot better than no db at all.

I too want to see Cooler make it into the cannon. But I don't think making another villain like Frieza is the way to go. Now what Akira Toriama sued do, is put Cooler in the anti hero role (Red Hood) to Frieza's villain role (Joker). And this has a lot of opritunatie's to show off. Plus they don't need to change a lot of thing's about him. Just change his morality to semi good.
1: Making Cooler NOT a copy of Frieza.
2: Cooler gets to be his own person.
3: This would show that not all of Frieza's race are evil. But at the same time, not souley good.
4: MARKETING!

Heroes is probably best to watch after it has finished releasing episodes. Someone can then edit them all together to get anime episode length (so I guess 3 at a time) and you’ll have a season of an anime by the end.

When factions were mentioned it made me think of how chaotic the namekian saga would have been if cooler and his armored squadron had been there as well.
Hopefully it reveals why Frieza hates Saiyans!

Ancient Saiyan? Hearing that reminds me of Shallot and the Saiyan in Red, both from Dragonball Legends.
I loved the Cooler vs Camba fight and I was sooo rooting for Cooler. He was cooler than ever.
I do think that Yamoshi will eventually be used, but it'll be a very tricky implementation. Yamoshi represents some of the last unexplored lore from the original manga story, and as such could injure the impact of some of that story if his use in a future story falls flat. On the other hand, he could potentially make a perfect counterpart to Goku and Vegeta if his character is well-written and he makes a good first impression.
Having Yamoshi coming back would be the one, decisive thing that pulls me back to DBS. I really got burnt out with the Battle Royale.
ss4 Vegito's design was so sad to me considering how different and interesting ss4 Gogeta's was, and he's STUCK with the same outfit! So they had less to work with!

I want a semi good cooler, kinda like an anti hero. He is on the good guys side but not by choice. Kinda opposite of your idea of freiza joining good guys to fight cooler. Frieza is too good as a bad guy.
Potentially interesting future plot kinda inspired by SDBH, but more grounded in the actual series:There are now a lot more more mortals are aware of the Omni Kings because of the Tournament of Power. I'm guessing that Freiza wasn't the only one who found them "vexing" (lets face it, kids with absolute power are actually terrifying). As such, it would be great to have a "long-con" kind of overarching plot where mortals and gods across the different universes start working together to get rid of the Zenos one way or another and then deal with the fallout whether the plan succeeds or fails. This gives us ample opportunity to revisit some of the more interesting characters from the Tournament of Power and see how people decide which side they're on (and quite possibly switching sides depending on the actions of others down the road).

I'm all for a Dragon Ball Super: Cooler movie, and if they could find some way to introduce Bojack and the Galaxy Soldiers, and maybe even Turles, that would be even better. As for the idea of evil Saiyan factions at war with each other as well as the main cast of characters, I'm completely sold on this, and I want, nay, NEED to see this happen! Although I think it goes without saying that seeing pure evil Super Saiyans or brand new transformations unique only to these evil Saiyans would be awesome, I kind of want to see a return to the Saiyans of old. Cruel, brutal Saiyans who only rely on the powers of their base forms just seems really cool to me. I know transformations are pretty much a staple of the series, but I think that having strong, ordinary Saiyans who possess enough power to solo Goku and Vegeta, at least in the beginning, would be interesting to see, and it could breathe new life into the old school concepts of Dragonball. Villains who use their wits and their own unique techniques in combination with their combat experience would serve to mirror what Goku and the original cast of characters were all about back in the days before transformations and massive ki blasts. However, as I stated before, transformations and Dragonball go hand and hand nowadays, so if this evil Saiyan factions thing becomes a reality, I could see each faction having its own unique transformation. Having said that, I think there should only be two factions, because introducing more than two new transformations at a time might be overly ambitious.

It would be neat to see Cooler like Magneto. He has his own agenda apart from Frieza. He'll do anything to accomplish it. He switches sides as it benefits him.
Some other evil vs. evil moments include Vegeta vs. any of Frieza's minions, as well as Androids 16/17/18 vs. Cell.

the SDBH anime has been amazing, i'm just waiting for it to be picked up for a full show like you stated. I know the time patrol works in ways that make the out of timeline people involved forget about the experience, but I'd still like some of this glorious chaos to spill over into regular anime canon.
If the franchise is making all their old movie villians canon by giving them updated movies, then please, absolutely do Cooler and the rest! That would be so awesome!

SDBH's quality is all over the place, but that Naotoshi Shida cut from Episode 13 was jaw-dropping amazing!!
I enjoy watching it as its simply different to the norm episode 13 was really really good and the story of taking down the omni kings is quite interesting quite looking forward to see how it goes hopefully the time patrol joins in would be cool to see them all join together for a big chaotic fight
Is so funny how i just watched heroes 1 thru 13 today and then see this video, I've watched heroes before but every time i finally realize a new episode is out i just watch the whole sha-bang all over again sooo i can remember, kinda like when u come out with a new what if episode i try to watch the whole what if over to keep it fresh in my brain

I try not to miss an episode of SDBH because it's mindless fun, sometimes the fights even look really good, and it's not much of a time-sink.
I really hope they bring Cooler into whatever they do next with the mainline series. Cooler is one of the best villains in DB, imo. Imagine if Frieza wasn't so far up his own ass that you could outsmart him. It's terrifying!
I'm almost certain that Cooler is getting canonized like Broly in the near future.

I say it every single time the topic of bringing back old villains come up, but: Give me Mr. Perfect Platinum Cell or give me death. I guess I'd also accept Cooler learning to harness god ki in his 5th form or w/e too.
They simply saw how well Fate GO is doing even in the USA and they want to see if they can do the same. The main difference is that Heroes totally lack any form of cohesion or long term appeal.

I'd prefer if Cooler was more efficient than Freeza when it comes to ruling their respective forces, in a way that challenges Freeza. Maybe Cooler could undermine Freeza by offering security to any of Freeza's men who wish to switch sides.
or maybe cooler could be an outcast of the family, like a bitter underdog who trained in secret to get his revenge on frieza, so the 2 brothers are permanently stuck fighting one another like ragna & jin in blazblue...
Totally agree; this isn't a good example but it's a great idea. I hope we see more of this kind of show, but I hope they evolve the formula properly so it can serve as a testing grounds for the main timeline the way elseworlds and what ifs do for superhero comics.

Dude I love super Dragon ball heroes. It may be all over the place, but it is only like seven or so minutes so it's not like it's saying any real time. I think it's fun to look in on these crazy stories. Also, the ads Masako!

Making movie villains part of the main story means retcons, and I think we've gotten enough of those already.
I watched the first two episodes of Super DBH when it first came out about a year ago, but then I stopped watching it. But now, I may start watching it again
Yeah... I keep forgetting about Heroes honestly.
I'm never really alerted when it comes out and honestly, that's a little annoying when you wanna know but you forget because you're doing other things and only remember on the off-chance or because someone's talking about it, case in point. I'm like... 5-6 episodes behind!
There are things in heroes and xenoverse that I think could be good ideas moving forward for Dragon Ball, but at the same time it feels like heroes doesn't even know where it's going. Honestly I think that Dragon Ball could benefit from a villain team up. We have had villains teams before but never Villain A teaming up with Villain B. Sort of like a Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance theme.
Cooler and Cumber are villains I would like have be introduced into the main series. Cooler being worse than Frieza is an interesting idea that would explain on why he isn't even mentioned in Super: Broly. Cumber with the whole ancient evil Saiyan idea is a good one and could have him be disappointed when learning the fate of his people. Could have him try and brainwash Broly to his side seeing the same primal and beastial nature in Broly compared to Vegeta and Goku.

One thing I find very funny in Heroes Dragon Balls and that the producers and writers have creative freedom to put what they want, this can be something very good if well taken advantage of. DBH can be an input to adapt Alternative Universes and get excellent ideas from other writers, and even fans and adapt these good things to TV and if it is really good to add to the canonical material.
