The story of open boosters is so crazy. Guy said he would trade for sealed product over singles back in the day when they were inexpensive. Then he lost it all somewhere in life of being married, kids, etc. Then when moving he found it all either in his attic or storage (can't remember) and since he's "well off" aka doesn't need the insane amount of money for selling it, he just opens it on camera. Kudos to him for sharing it with us bc otherwise that black lotus could've forever been in that pack.
As someone who does not play Magic I can say I truly appreciate this. This is a very good channel, you speak clearly, you're funny, you explain everything perfectly using examples that I would understand (Sports). I've never seen those two god starter packs opened, that's insane. This was a great video! Was kind of expecting to see BadBoyGaming's Gaea's Cradle pull, Joey's reaction was so good there. Also was surprised to not see the actual God Pack pulled by Booster Therapy, afaik the only one that's ever been filmed. Openboosters reaction to pulling that Lotus lives rent free in my head 😂

I had a great MH2 pack opening once, stopped into a gaming store I’d never been to before and which has unfortunately since closed, picked up a single MH2 set booster, pulled a Ragavan and a foil scalding tarn. I’ll never forget it
A personal favorite is watching the Professor open a single Legends pack at the end of one of his booster box game videos and pulling a Tabernacle as the first card.

Welcome aboard! I had never heard of them until I saw them open for August Burns Red recently. They put on a great show! Crazy that a band that good has never toured the states before after almost 20 years. I talked to the guitarist at the merch booth - super nice dude. I bet it's super cool to work with him!
It's really funny seing people gush over cards we drew ourselves back in the day. I can still remember drawing a Timespiral and a Yawgmoths Will with my two boosters from my weekly allowance in one day. Didn't know what to do with it, because i was playing mono red.
I've pulled some pretty sweet stuff over the years. I think my best one though is a Mox Diamond. Back when stronghold was still available in stores, I went to a shop looking for one for a deck. The guy didn't have any left in singles, so I decided to get two packs and try my luck. First pack I opened had it, the guy behind the counter couldn't believe it. So I paid something like less than 3 bucks for my mox diamond, still have it too!
Unfortunately wasn’t able to record it because I was at work on my break, but I pulled a neon red hidetsugu from a single kamigawa collector booster I picked up when I got my lunch.
Ha yeah I had no idea he opened one until people mentioned it in the comments. Maybe I’ll make a part 2 some day and include it! And thanks! Glad you liked it!
I haven't played mtg in roughly 20 years now. It's so weird to see what cards in old sets that are still coveted today. Some like Tolorian Academy makes perfect sense, but Gilded Drake? I suppose there's some crazy combo with it these days :) All I know for sure is that getting back in to MTG would cost an absolute fortune lol. It really has become a rich man's pass time.
For the legends pull from Dominaria United, I actually have a family member that pulled the Tabernacle. They got it graded right away, thankfully they knew what it was on the spot.
And I felt so lucky when back in the days planar chaos was released I unboxed 3 foil “Damnation” in the same day. 3 million dollars for a “black lotus” just make me feel so small…
This was well done. Thanks for posting. The only thing I would say is that the graded versions of these cards can sell for well over some of the prices you mentioned.

At our Prerelease for OG Ravnica we had Packs only containing Rares (German), on the other side i was present when someone opened an OG Ravnica Box containing only commons. I dont know if Boxes with only Uncommons exist but i could imagine.
At the Aether Revolt prerelease, I pulled out two Kaladesh Inventions (Chrome Mox and Extraplanar Lens) from the same 6-booster prerelease pack. Still the best opening in my life.
Had a friend pull an all gods Theros pack back in the day. I myself have had some exceptionally great pulls from many double masters 2, and the recent LOTR set (pulled a surge foil bucklebury ferry opening weekend, and an Elvish Sol Ring reskin ( 1:3000 version) the 2nd week.
My best pulls were from both double masters. On a trip to Michigan, I found some packs of og Double Masters for their $15 a piece and grabbed 3. The first pack had a foil doubling season. The second was a textured emerakul out of double masters 2022 which i sold for $300.
My coolest "pack openings" are that across the 6 drafts I did of Battle for Zendikar over a few weeks, I opened expedition lands in 3 of them. Hallowed Fountain twice and Polluted Delta. One guy happened to be in all 3 drafts with me. When I opened the third he just completely lost it.
I just recently got into getting mtg cards, I impulse bought the 2024 festival box despite seeing complaints about it being over priced. After all the mystery packs, the first card in the first of the three collectors packs I opened was a confetti anime Rhystic Study. I didn't even know what I had until I was cataloging it and saw the value lmao, I was just stoked I got such a pretty card that seemed really good Gonna try and get it graded soon
We had a local open a tabernacle. And then another 40 mins away a 2nd tabernacle. No RUclips openings but this is crazy how close they were to each other
Good video mate. A few you missed. Openboosters opened a Eureka in a Dominaria United Collector Booster Box. There is also a video on Unhinged Magi of someone opening an Alpha Lotus in a Beta Starter box. 10% of the original Alpha rares were used in early Beta Starter Decks to save money back then which is wild to think about.
Anyone who has played has one or two stories of insane boxes or packs. I have several myself. A triple mythic SOI booster. Playing the Booster Box game IRL during Kaladesh release weekend. I kept hitting a Chandra over and over. It allowed me to open 5 boxes and land 2 masterpieces. Or a box of Onslaught giving me a foil Delta. But the one that made me cry was 3 packs from a Walmart. Two were Commander Masters, while the other was a lone pack of Double Masters. I ended up with a Jeweled Lotus and a Mana Drain from the former, while the latter disappointed with a foil Force of Will. All of my luck for life was used that day.
nice compilation. I should let you know that Mana Drain was not one of the cards seeded into Dominaria United collector boxes because, that's right, zero Mana Drains were opened out of those cases and cases of boxes that WotC opened!! How did this happen?? due to a collation error, the boxes were released as "A" and "B" boxes. Mana Drain was on list A, and all the boxes only contained cards from list B. So it is impossible to get a Karakas and a Mana Drain from the same box of English Legends

Recently pulled a full art imperal seal and phrexian alter from one double masters booster, that was pretty dope, then also got a esper sentinel from modern horizons later that week.
Nah, you didn't. They only had "B" boxes in that warehouse and Karakas, and Mana Drain are only found in "A" boxes. It was a correlation error when legends was printed.
Such a big fan of Rudy, i was there on the video release and i freaked out when he dropped this video, i watched it 3 times with friends! I didnt know that alot of people dont like Rudy to much, he's my role model to strive for *timmy drops the mic on left nut*
Just a heads up: for historical reasons you shouldn't be able to open a Mana Drain in those Dominaria United packs. There are 2 versions of Legends boxes and some uncommons only appear in one version. The leftover Legends boxes are likely from an exchange program in '94, and only one version of the boxes was left.
The Black Lotus made it into the World of Warcraft at launch, they were very valuable as they were used to make the most powerful potions. (...and they look a lot like the card)
I know its been a year since you uploaded this lol so I'm not expecting a response, but do you know how much the gaia's cradles in the same style with the gold signature go for? I wouldn't say they're in perfect condition, maybe 6-8s, but I have 3 knocking around in a box somewhere in my garage. I also have I think the cards from three 1999 tokyo world championship decks, the green, red, and black. If you respond, thanks!
Hope you enjoyed the video! I would say that those boxes are worth finding. Depending on what you have, there could be a couple hundred to a couple grand in there. I'm editing a video right now on revised vs unlimited. If you have any cards from those sets, it's important to know the difference since unlimited is worth usually ~10X revised.

My brother had a Beta Black Lotus in the 90's paid around 100 bones for it...Bet he wish he didn't sell it a year or two later. Thanks for the memories. Of course when I was a kid my big pulls were Force of Nature, Serra Angel, and Shivan Dragon. Fun times.
I got lucky in 94 or 95, made a deal on a Alpha pack and a legends booster,traded 10 Shivans for it,and a few sol rings,plus like 300 bucks... Didn't hit anything big,but opening those,...I'll remember it forever.🥰--Then I passed on a beta mox ruby for 60$--like a idiot.🤪
First unlimited starter deck (way back in time, must have been before 2000) had Mox Jet (traded it away in an instant) and Serra Angel. That 4/4 no tap flyer was for me the FAR better card than the "useless" zero mana artifact which did nothing but giving you mana.
I remember being a kid in 1995 or so at our hobby town playing magic on a friday night and a guy came through with I think a beta black lotus. Even then it formed a crowd and everyone talked about it all night.

Anyone who has played has one or two stories of insane boxes or packs. I have several myself. A triple mythic SOI booster. Playing the Booster Box game IRL during Kaladesh release weekend. I kept hitting a Chandra over and over. It allowed me to open 5 boxes and land 2 masterpieces. Or a box of Onslaught giving me a foil Delta. But the one that made me cry was 3 packs from a Walmart. Two were Commander Masters, while the other was a lone pack of Double Masters. I ended up with a Jeweled Lotus and a Mana Drain from the former, while the latter disappointed with a foil Force of Will. All of my luck for life was used that day.

I should let you know that Mana Drain was not one of the cards seeded into Dominaria United collector boxes because, that's right, zero Mana Drains were opened out of those cases and cases of boxes that WotC opened!! How did this happen?? due to a collation error, the boxes were released as "A" and "B" boxes. Mana Drain was on list A, and all the boxes only contained cards from list B. So it is impossible to get a Karakas and a Mana Drain from the same box of English Legends

Nah, you didn't. They only had "B" boxes in that warehouse and Karakas, and Mana Drain are only found in "A" boxes. It was a correlation error when legends was printed.
Fyi, Wizards reprinted the Power 9 in the limited edition 30th anniversary boxes that they sold last year.

Just a heads up: for historical reasons you shouldn't be able to open a Mana Drain in those Dominaria United packs. There are 2 versions of Legends boxes and some uncommons only appear in one version. The leftover Legends boxes are likely from an exchange program in '94, and only one version of the boxes was left.

I know its been a year since you uploaded this lol so I'm not expecting a response, but do you know how much the gaia's cradles in the same style with the gold signature go for? I wouldn't say they're in perfect condition, maybe 6-8s, but I have 3 knocking around in a box somewhere in my garage. Hope you enjoyed the video! I would say that those boxes are worth finding. Depending on what you have, there could be a couple hundred to a couple grand in there. I'm editing a video right now on revised vs unlimited. If you have any cards from those sets, it's important to know the difference since unlimited is worth usually ~10X revised.

My brother had a Beta Black Lotus in the 90's paid around 100 bones for it...Bet he wish he didn't sell it a year or two later. Thanks for the memories. Of course when I was a kid my big pulls were Force of Nature, Serra Angel, and Shivan Dragon. Fun times.

First unlimited starter deck (way back in time, must have been before 2000) had Mox Jet (traded it away in an instant) and Serra Angel. That 4/4 no tap flyer was for me the FAR better card than the "useless" zero mana artifact which did nothing but giving you mana.

Yes he pulled one at the Vintage Magic booth at Vegas I think either 2018 or 2019. I was right there to see it. Then he sold it to Rudy.
I remember being a kid in 1995 or so at our hobby town playing magic on a friday night and a guy came through with I think a beta black lotus. Even then it formed a crowd and everyone talked about it all night.
