There is something inherently cool watching Ivey play, he's just such a great player.
I kinda liked the idea of hold em and kinda started getting interested then I watched Ivey play in 2003 main event and watching him hooked me into playing. I love his intensity and how he intimidates people. As a sports fan he is in my top 10 of watching someone compete at their sport. Hes a straight killer
He is a phenomenal player.
Soyza who lol
helps to play against a guy like Soyza who constantly misreads his opponent and bets into the nuts
ikr right haha. impossible to read what the man has
Thank you guys for talking poker and allowing us to hear the table talk as well. Kudos to you for doing it right.
how is 7 an out in the last hand for phil??
@@eashwaransridhar252 It's short deck Holdem so the wheel straight is A6789 :)
Ace plays 5 as well in short deck
That fold he had on a queen high straight vs quad 8's was so impressive
Why can he fold so fast😢😢
At 43:00 where Phil has K,7 and Michael has 8,6 the board comes out with 6,J,8,9,A and Phil wins with “a straight”. Am i going crazy? Can someone explain what’s going on here?
I was looking for this comment bc im confused as ever myself LOL
Happy to have found this comment because I'm as confused as you!!
Sorry it took me sonlong to reply. This is short deck poker. In short deck, an ace counts both as a high and a low card. So, A6789 is a straight. Hope that helps.
I'm glad you brought it up. I was going crazy!!!
@@PokerXpressso an ace is essentially a wild card for straights?
Phil Ivey really is the greatest poker player of all time.
I love how when Phil out flops his opponent from being behind he still has a steady and calm demeanor. Cool as a cucumber.
I love how when Phil out flops his opponent from being behind he still has a steady and calm demeanor. Cool as a cucumber.
When you have been playing as long as Ivey man, you’ve been outdrawn, and outflopped so many times you get used to it lol. He’s also outflopped and sucked out on his opponent countless times as well. It’s part of being a professional poker player 🤷🏼♂️
When I think of the embodiment of a poker player, I think Phil Ivey
Ivey is a monster... this is amazing
What did Ivey win with at 45:00 ?
It's short deck, so ace counts as a 5, and he found a straight on the river
Thanks, I was looking for this comment 😵💫
@@zondberg thank you. I kept rewinding to see what I was missing.
6:13 Ivey's eyes right here are just insane. There's a poker machine behind those eyes just calculating every little thing.
lol
Drugs :D
He's just checking reactions
@@030Cappucino He's "just checking reactions." He's 'checking breathing and chest movements, hand movements, known tells and non-tells, calculating history and knowledge of the players at the table, the last hands that have been played, the pattern of cards that particular dealer has been dealing, the history of the dealer themselves, the players' chip counts, if they've been playing aggressive or passively, how that dynamic changes when they're losing or winning, if they're heated or drunk or high, thinking about if they owe money, how much they probably have in the bank, and most importantly if they play new-school or old-school poker.
And you say Phil Ivey is, "just checking reactions" hahahaha
he's like a gekko
Before I think I’m in love with Ivey, now that I’m all grown up ,I know now that I love Ivey and his talent for Poker..
I haven’t seen a player win more than Ivey. This guy always wins.
Negreanu
I have watched Ivey for years and he is 1 of the most aggressive players ever or lag poker player but now he’s more tight passive with lots of pot control while still shifting gears back to lag
i was gonna say he seems alot more passive. Probably because the game has changed. In 2003 tight aggressive was taught so lag was prolly easier to run over the table now everyone is lag. Or who knows maybe people tighten up as they age a la doyle brunson chip reese
phil is more tight passive nowadays because the skill gap between him and the rest of the field is way smaller. in the past he could profitably 3bet any two against 90% of the players because of his huge edge post-flop. now the game is very different and all his opponents have a very consistent fundamental understanding of the game. that being said, he's still an elite player.
you also seem to forget that this is short deck poker, not regular. it plays out differently
I actually just discovered there's all these videos on poker which I love I used to watch WPT all the time. But your channel is definitely the best
I agree with that
Ivey is a legend... flops 4 kings and no reaction.
He’s probably dead inside :(
The way Ivey knows when to fold is so impressive
It's safe to say that Phil Ivey is the Efren Reyes of poker can play any games at a high level and dominant in any game he wants to
@44.50 time frame Phil has 100% straight? Where is the straight? Is there a glitch I'm not aware off. k7 with board 6j89A
was wondering the same thing
@@jaydenverhoek2590 This is short deck poker. All 2,3,4,5s are removed from the deck. As Ace plays high and low, this makes the low straight A-6-7-8-9. In short deck a flush also beats a full house.

I'm so happy for him

I have to ask, but how did Phil have the winning hand in the third-last hand on this vid (44:35) according to the hand-history-percentage on the left of the viewer's screen? Soyza's two pair (8's and 6's) vs Phil's... ace-high?
It's short deck poker so 2,3,4,5s are taken out of the deck. Ivey made the A, 6,7,8,9 wheel straight since the A plays both high and low.
@@matthewmelendez1755 Thanks champ! Part of me just went "Duh!" and the other part went "Ahh!" lol
44:51 can someone explaine why ivey has a 100% i cant see why how he has a straight?
In short deck game Ace represents the ¨5¨ as low start of straight..A, 6, 7, 8, 9
Love to see Phil win!
I watched and liked it. Asking people to like before they've watched it is stupid.
Only one problem, we watch 1 hour of great poker, and we are not aloud to see 30 seconds more of the winner getting the prize?? The video ends too soon🙈🙈
Did Phil just win $15m dollars?
Or what do the chips mean
he‘s still the king of poker
another day in the office for Ivey... he didn't even smile after winning a big tournament.
he had to go to the bathroom, no more poker face, but peeing face
Cristhian Valencia , LoL
at the end after the handshake he said "I am going to the bathroom" lol
Lmfao, I didn't even notice this, good spot!

when you're winning as a 40/60s 75% of the time, you're gonna have a good time.
44:35 was there an error in the graphics? Phil hit nothing while the other player has two pairs
short deck, A counts as a 5
He's a stone cold assassin, when they're head's up the guy looks like he's going to throw up

That fart has a color. Piiiiink
Phil ! Tell me how ur feel after winning a tournament?
Im going to the bathrroom
LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOO
How did Ivey hit the straight at 44:21
I don't understand this poker rule?
because ace plays high and low so ace6789 is a wheel straight because no cards 5 or lower in short deck so 6 is lowest card
This is short deck poker. All 2,3,4,5s are removed from the deck. As Ace plays high and low, this makes the low straight A-6-7-8-9. In short deck a flush also beats a full house.
@@Flanksy WTF? That's weird. I wouldn't want to play these garbage rules.
@@starrebornalpha It's just a way of playing Holdem with more action, almost like a more sane version of Omaha when you think about it.
@@Flanksy How is Omaha
44.37 min in. Phil has K7 hearts. 6J89A on board. They said Phil rivers the straight. He has 6789... How does he have a straight?? Anyone???
Thank you! I went straight to the comment section to make sure I wasn't having a stroke or something
Dude I paused the video trying to find how phill had a straight or even 100% equity, I cant find sht I'm guessing then overlay just got it wrong: edit: I'm not familiar with short deck A6789 is a straight just like normal Holdem would be A2345
The Ace, don’t forget it’s short deck!
This is short deck, 36 cards instead of 52....no cards under a 6... but the ace can act as a 5.
Also 3 of a kind beats a straight, and flush beats a full house. Very fun format with tons of variance!
I paused the vid to see if I was missing something, but I'm stumped. Unless the ace falls in some kind of rule allowing the ace to fill as a 10???
At 6:54 may i ask when Ivey has 3 Kings what river card can help Soyza win.? They said he have 14% change of winning.
yea was just looking at that, seems the graphics are wrong lmao
@@mola4everyourz the graphics are not wrong, if 9 hits guy has a straight which beats 3 kings, a6789, ace is 5 and ace in shortdeck.
Why does Ivey win the hand at 44:08? He didn't hit a straight or have a pair even. I'm really confused as a poker novice, can anyone explain?
Seems he's still kinda strong. Made many final tables.
Definitely a top 10 player. He just had the legal issue so he hasn't been playing as much cause they trying to take his winning every time

Probably just didn't want to claw his way back up, he was already gonna take #2 at least so he probably just said fuck it
im so confused how did he win that hand at 44:30, phil had no straight or pairs
How did Phil win with a straight at 44:23??
-44:33 "obviously gonna jam de nuts"
he should've said nut flush bc the nuts are J8 of spades followed by 99
But those are so unlikely ppl commonly refer to second and third nuts as the nuts
@@Nietzsches-Disciple nuts are nuts, you know it when you hav'em
(sorry, inevitable joke)
Why the hell does Phil's hand win @ 42 minutes???? The commentater says, ''Ivey rivers the straight.'' But I can't see a straight. What's going on?
