    I'm still team Daemon as well. I've never claimed to be a well adjusted person either. Lol

    Great reaction guys! A “Game of a Thrones wedding” always end in chaos lol 😅. Criston was dealing with a lot that day and having some random dude come over and “hang a secret over him” was his last straw! He was unhinged, taking out all his frustrations on this poor guy. Viserys went thru with the wedding because, after all these delays and hang ups. He just wanted the damn thing done! The end scene is a perfect portrait of how beneath all this pomp and circumstance is a unruly, unkempt, uncivil world of lords and ladies 🫠

    Hey, so not to say you’re wrong for feeling she’s annoying but I wanted to explain a bit since y’all mentioned how you didn’t understand why she was mad and that this marriage would be stabilizing for the realm. I don’t think she cares or is mad about this marriage. It’s the fallout from everything in episode 4.
    So Rhaenyra gets taken on a night out by Daemon and chaos ensued. The “bowels of the pleasure den”, the persuading of Cristin Cole. A spy sees them, tells Otto, Otto tells Viserys, all that. Alicent witnesses Viserys give Otto a talk down and subsequently goes to Rhaenyra to get the truth. Rhaenyra swears on “the memory of my mother” that Daemon didn’t touch her and that nothing happened which we know is a lie. Alicent believes her and defends Rhaenyra to Viserys. That prompts Viserys to fire Otto. Now she feels somewhat responsible for her father’s firing. She probably feels like she chose Rhaenyra at the cost of her father.
    The piece that sets everything off though is the tea. She naively believed her “friend”, stuck up for her, got her father fired for it, then finds out she had been fooled. The most important detail though is that the tea was sent by Maester Mellos, which means it was sent by King Viserys. So that tells her not only that Rhaenyra lied to her but that Viserys KNEW she was lying and fired Otto anyways to cover for Rhaenyra.
    Alicent is not only angry that her own blood was shamed and fired to cover up for Rhaenyra’s lies and misdeeds. She’s also probably angry at herself for being so naive and playing a role in making all this happen. You mentioned Margaery but I actually see a lot of Sansa in young Alicent. Believing and living by these ideas of duty, tradition, honor, religion, etc, and slowly realizing that everyone else doesn’t play by the rules.
    True, You could say that it isn’t Alicent’s business who Rhaenyra is or isn’t with in the first place but still.

    I feel like there's been a shift where people have decided that the morality of the characters a person likes is a direct reflection of their own morality so either people try to not like bad people or to defend all the bad actions of a character they do like. Daemon is a dumpster fire of a human AND an excellent, complex, and fun character to watch. Totally reasonable for an absolute monster to be someone's favorite character.

    People complain about Cole not being punished for killing a highborn. But punishing a Kingsguard ultimately comes down to the King regardless of guest rites or how high ranked the victim was. Just cause a similar incident didn't happen in ASOIAF, doesn't mean the authority to dish out the punishment suddenly changes hands. All it actually takes for Criston to live is Viserys' mercy, regardless of the nature of the crime. If Viserys refuses to punish there's not much you can do no matter how powerful you are unless the Lonmouths want to declare war, which would be ridiculous. Robert forgave Mountain for the murder of a "high ranked" Martel, while Ned could do nothing. Laenor himself wasn't gonna be able to do anything without Corlys' backing. Corlys had no real incentive to push for punishment as that would've brought his son's sexuality into the forefront. So it's not a stretch to assume Viserys acquiesced to Alicent & spared Criston as a compromise/olive branch for depriving her son from being the heir. Criston living was an example of Viserys' incompetence. Which is the theme of the first season. That Viserys' weakness, leniency & habitual bad decisions predestined his two families to a civil war. By thinking Criston is Rhaenyra's paramour, as in side piece, Joffrey thought Criston was "just like them", as in more open minded to a libertine lifestyle. Joffrey didn't know Criston walked away the moment he realized Rhaenyra had no intention to marry him. Criston was literally asking for a death sentence for himself. What is he gonna do to someone who approached him & said "I know about your little secret"? The wedding death is so beautifully shot & Criston's slow unravelling is so well tied in to the overarching theme of the two women under medieval patriarchy that it's def far better than another jousting death woulda been.

    Rhaenyra was too complacement to see the forest for the trees. It's only fitting that while Viserys, Corlys, Rhaenys, Lionel Strong & the rest of the gallery of clowns were bargaining & splitting hairs about who will sit on the iron throne & while the audience is too busy fawning over what kinda edgy villainy Daemon is plotting, the chain of events that sets off the downfall of the mighty Targaryen dynasty starts with the two unlikliest of peoples finding each other on that cursed night. The Green Wedding. "One flesh. one heart. I am yours and you're mine. Whatever may come"...that was about the two tortured souls, being united by fate, in the godswood, under the moonlit tree. It's them who were becoming one, until the bitter end.

    Love daemon. I know whom he is and what he has done and I normally wouldn’t like him but he makes it very hard.

    The scene in which Damon kills his wife was filmed in the same place where Westley and Buttercup rolled on the hill in The Princess Bride.

      @MrSupertallblackman 10 дней назад

      Yes that would be part of it. But when the dragon people make the rules but then don't follow them it's kind of reasonable that she would be a little jealous. Especially when her supposed friend blamed her for years for marrying her father even though she didn't really have a choice.
