Its a whole Christmas Carol thing with Daemon. He has been visited by the Ghost of Christmas Past (young Rhaenyra), and the Ghost of Christmas Present (Aemond) - all thats left is the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come, which will be whom, I wonder?
Because they've flown to battle together for years and Rheanys knows they're not going to come out on top this time and that hurts because they're great characters and this isn't fair. 😊❤

Viserys used the term King Consort in season 1 when talking about Rhaenyra needing to marry. I know it came up a few other times too. I don't think that term is coming from Daemon.
When Daemon meets with Willem Blackwood, when he’s dazed, in the sub titles Willem says “I’m only Regent until my Nephew Benjicot becomes of age” we getting Bloody Ben

More than that, by propping Rhaenyra up he's made this whole war happen (that's effectively what dream-Rhaenyra was saying with that whole "you created me" bit), so it's the blood of the realm as well. Multi-layered mucky hands!
One critique I have is that Aemonds attention wasnt on Meleys. If you notice after he burns Aegon and Sunfyre he was looking for Aegons body in the sky. It wasnt until Meleys went back that Aemond was like Meleys is just another obstacle in his way to kill Aegon. Also he had his sword drawn but sheathed it bc he was going to use the kings dagger instead, so yes Aemond was planning to kill Aegon with his own favorite dagger Aegon flaunts all the time
Even after reading the book and knowing what would happen this was a heartbreaking episode to watch even hearing sunfyre get hurt was just devastating.
I call BS on that sneak attack, we saw the cliff before the battle. You telling me that big ass lizard was able to hide and launched itself fast enough to attack like that?
I feel like Daemon couldn’t understand young Rhaenyra’s high Valyrian because well it was muffled and it was a dream and Aegon couldn’t understand Aemond’s because he was too lazy or didn’t care enough to learn it.
maybe Aemond, by saying to everyone that Aegon killed Maelys/Rhaenys, gives him a narative where Aegon is the hero in order for him to not tell that Aemond purposefully burnt him : if he doesn't say anything, he gets to be the hero and respected, if he says something, he might bring down his brother, but appears weak, doesn't help the realm and is still burnt to the crisp. With this narative, Aemond push Aegon to never reveal the truth, hence the version we get in the book
I've not read this far into the book, but watching ep5 preview and hearing them say that Aegon is the one that slayed Meleys felt like propaganda from the Hightowers and I think this is really going to wind Aemond up. And this rage and feeling of invincibility will be his eventual downfall.
Daemons red stained hands could also be from the red sap of the warewood trees. He may have sleep walked out there and thus it might be the red sap that makes the trees appear to be crying blood. It would be interesting if it somehow relates to that, especially with alys rivers involved

While I do think Aemond plans on finishing off Aegon, I didn’t see it as him standing over his brother with his sword poised to kill him. I saw it as him walking through an active battle, armed, looking for the crash site. Then sheathing his sword when he found it.
This episode reminded us of the importance of our native tongue. Imagine Aegon feeling embarrassed for not responding to his brother in front of his council.
... small note, it was Lord Gorman Massey, the one pouring himself a second cup of wine, not Broome. But yeah Broome's pommel leaning up against the table near Rhaneyra's map figurine is definitely a foreshadow of his intentions made known later in the story.
I notice that when Rhænys and Meleys return to the battle the first time, they climb up from behind the castle, following the same path Æmond and Vhægar will later fly when they kill them.
Both dragons are experienced at war. Aemond isn't, but Vhagar is almost 200, so she's battle enough for the both of them. And Meleys and Rheanys have been pulling up on suckahs together for a long time, so they got the squabble dance down. 😊❤
Aemond definitely not trying to finished off Aegon, he probably draw his sword due to some sort of defense mechanism. He's trying to sheath it before Ser Crispin called his name.
If Josh Brolin’s Cable thought us anything is that once you taste that first kill, the next ones are gonna be easy. This is what happens to Aemond once he accidentally kills Luke.
Do you think Aemond will discover the Song of Ice and Fire in Aegon's dagger?
Probably the way that he looked at the knife
Hmmmmm…yes but he will either keep it to himself or tell another character that ends up dieing or not revealing it either
If Aemond wanted to kill his brother, why not kill Christian Cole and then finish Aegon off?

Except for Hodor´s... yeah
@@lekalitzin1119oh for sure
There are many deaths far worse in GOT.
@Chimera_166 dude nvr said there weren't just tht tht was the one he felt the most
@@ANJIN-p4q this is jus my opinion! rhaenys has been one of my all-time favorite characters since the books!
21:20 also daemon and aemond are both second sons who believe they would be more fit to be king
This was so good!
Aemond definitely not trying to finished off Aegon, he probably draw his sword due to some sort of defense mechanism. He's trying to sheath it before Ser Crispin called his name.
First thing I thought as well, I immediately rewatched the scene to make sure he was sheathing it before hearing Cole...
I get that vahgar has war experience, but where did aemond get battle experience from
The review we’ve been waiting for
Best recap by far! Great work!
If Josh Brolin’s Cable thought us anything is that once you taste that first kill, the next ones are gonna be easy. This is what happens to Aemond once he accidentally kills Luke.
I think Vhagar read his intentions and acted on it. He meant to kill that boy.
@@Clairejart Aemond clearly commanded Vhagar to stop.
Oh my gosh - the framing of the crown and the sword with young Rhaenyra between them is brilliant.
