What I'm interested to see is a fight between a factory and a spidertron team. Like they're storming in with their missiles, taking down sections of the factory while being shot at and destroyed by turrets and artillery.
@@Xterminator And i am thinking there will soon be controllers for all spidertrons with a certain color and same owner, formations of them etc. Maybe even stations, so you can automatically have them go back to regrab more materials at a refilling station and then head back out to go on building blueprints. It's a must really.
Two things I found out about spidertron; (i) if you send one off to do some remote bug-extermination there is no way to tell how many rockets it has left in its armoury, so I almost sent it into a big nest with no weapons >:-o (ii) it doesn't have very smart pathing - one of the places I sent it was on the far side of a big bay, and instead of skirting around the shore it headed for the water's edge and stuck there until I steered it around with intermediate target points, and (iii) THREE! /Three/ things I found out! equipping spidertron with 3 exoskeletons and a fusion reactor does increase its speed, but not as much as 3 exoskeletons increases the speed of my engineer. Something to do with being exoskeletal already! Also, it's *very* expensive by the time you have researched it, built it and equipped it. However, Xterm told us that already, so that isn't thing #4.
The Spidertron doesn't need fuel as he has built in reactors, but they only power him - you still need power sources for anything you put in his grid. I think his personal power is also why he's like a remote player avatar, which for me is a bit of a game changer for the late-game. I'll be honest I never really cared much about spidertron - I don't really get on with vehicles in the game anyway and the main things it was talked about doing (walking over stuff) seemed like a bit of an edge case. But I think having the spidertron basically be a remote player avater will be hugely useful for managing and building bigger bases, especially when combined with being able to do blueprints from the map. Just place all your blueprints from the map, fill up spidey and then send him off to go do it for you - then all you need to do is a bit of troubleshooting and/or hook up trains. I mean, even just setting one of them running around clearing out trees and biters automatically is going to make a lot of stuff so much easier.
+1 I find that you can't resupply spidertron with inserters though; unlike a car or a tank, spidertron's trunk doesn't seem to have a hitbox for an inserter to latch onto.
@@maximnikolaev6627 i actually would love it very much if you actually had to aim your mouse efficiently to get kills it seems like aim automation should be a skill you research into or add to your armor as a combat module.

OMG, I love the Spidertron so much ! That's what we've been missing in the endgame. Clearing biters and expanding will be much easier. Time to make a missile city block because I'll launch a LOT of these now !
i spent like 6 hours automating production and utility science and researching it and then like another few hours getting its resources I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT IT IS SOOOOOO ABORABLE TOTTALY WORTH IT
I agree! I really hope we can like set multiple way points to patrol or go destroy multiple bases one after the other. It can automatically build blueprints already as long as you stamp it down.
But you can let them build right? Just throw a base blueprint on the map. Fill up the spider with stuff and bots etc. En send the spider instead. Omg so awesome!
@@Xterminator I forgot about the map blueprint placement, which obviously makes that easier. I was thinking you can just send it to a ore field 10km away without having to plot the exact path with blueprints.
@@Revolver.Ocelot Yep, that works. I had a minor modification in a spot with no robot coverage, so I just gave spidertron a MkII roboport, 25 constructor bots and the materials and sent it over. Job done in seconds, especially as it always just makes a bee-line for the target ignoring cliffs, forests and small water features.
Im super excited. Its still missing robo charging towers tho. And/Or generally more robostuff like better charging, more charging ports than 4. Im aware theres mods for that but still :)
I really like the way Bob's does it. Break the different functions apart and have Separate components for storage, charging and network extension. Would be great to have that as an extra mod without all the rest. There are other charging mods, but not ones come with chargers + extenders from what I can tell
I feel like the grid title in the Logistcs tab should simply be called "Personal logistics", and let the "auto-trash" be implicit in that. The description when hovering over the sliders gives all the neccesary info. I think that should help with the confusion you mention at 37:11. That way it looks like 2 aspects of the same thing, instead of 2 different functions in the single grid, wich is the confusing part.
Ultimate Satisfaction: Spidertron gets included in the mods allowing for automation of vehicles. Imagine a squad of these things fully outfitted to clear the map.
Depending on wich mods you use (if any), this might be different for you. I use Bob's and Krastorio 2 (plus some minor ones) and the only movement speed upgrade you can put in it is the skeleton legs 3. That's pretty since it actually fits the theme of the Spidertron.
I want to say I started paying around .10 Took a long time off part frustration or whatever. RUclips recommends factorio to me again. And boom modding is easy now. Next thing I know I put a couple thousand hours into it from .15- now. Playing space black. Sea block and pyblock. Super excited the game is finally 1.0. And now a lot more people will buy the game because of the aversion to buying Early access games
It does a bit. On my map, vanilla spidertron took around 9 seconds to move across two roboport logistic squares o------------o------------o With three exoskeletons and a fusion reactor, it took around six seconds. Faster, but not hugely faster.
Im not too sure on some of the icon changes, like the battery feels like a complete downgrade and feels too "clean" or generic compared to the old cylinder with red and blue wires.
I can just imagine a massive multiplayer game where everyone gets in their Spidertron and swarm over a biter base
Next alien they make will be spider queen XD spider enemies for the ultimate boss battle

Your factory must grow if you deem it very expensive :)

I don't think you noticed or not sure if its new but when artillery shoots it leaves behind a expended shell on the ground
