The TOG is a not a bad tank at all. Yes it is big, it’s armor offers as much protection as cardboard, and it has the speed of a sloth, but it also has a really good gun, preferential matchmaking, a heavy weight only rivaled by the German and Japanese super heavies, a massive health pool, and the slow speed is actually an assets because you can fire on the move without losing accuracy and don’t need to upgrade the tank for it. The TOG II* is a textbook lethal joke vehicle.

Back in the early days of World of tanks. Parking your tog on a bridge sideways was a winning strategy. The enemy could not move you even after your death.
I didn't play at that time, but I think I remember some map choke point that once blocked would force a draw. I do certainly remember that in clan wars TOGs or Mauses would surround an ELC in the spawn circle. In an alternate timeline the TOG II was actually adopted into active service and lend-leased to the French army, only so we could give it the pet name Death Baguette. Alas, 'twas not to be.
Fun Fact: Though Basil Liddel Hart advocated for the use of armored vehicles to be used with infantry units to target supplies and communications, these were only the building blocks for the blitzkrieg. The methodology and employment of units for the blitzkrieg actually came from a French commander by the name of Charles De Gaulle and his book 'The Army of the Future(1934)'.

The fun bit about the TOG II is the 'mysterious' extra crewman. Included in the crew of the TOG was a submariner. The job of this submariner even baffles Mister Fletcher. While I will not claim to know what this crewman did, I do have an educated guess: Operating the switchgear that matched the output of the generator to the demands of the drive train. The TOG used an electric drive train. The engine drove a generator and the generator supplied power to the motor (motors?) that drove the tracks. Submarines have sophisticated switch panels to vary how the field windings and rotor windings are connected, so that the electric motors run at the desired speed. A similar set of switchgear on the TOG would allow for a wide range vehicle speeds, while operating the main engine at its most efficient speed.
"The 17 pounder is accurate" said right after missing 4 shots in a row against a target that was staying still every time it got shot at. Oh Jingles, never change.
Anyone in the mood for a hotdog? About the KV 1 or 2 on the east front. It was loacted in the path the germans had to go, so they threw tanks at it and they were slaughtered. It was then decided to pull a couple of 88s into firing position. They hit the KV 7 times and penetrated it 2 times. The KV stood still and smoke came from it. The german troops moved towards it and then it's turret started turning again. Once again the germans swarmed it with their tanks and more dazed it than killing it and infantry dropped handgranades through the hatch of the KV.
One of my best potential damage received games was in a TOG. I was toonned up with a couple clanmates and I was reverse sidescraping. TOG is one of my favorite and arguably one of the best tanks in the game, especially for its tier.
