Nooo! I had the same issue and it wasn’t a hard fix! A new fully charged battery and og power cable, press the power button once, don’t hold, then she’ll come back. Just let her sit for a bit, there’s an internal battery or something that needs certain conditions to recharge I’m guessing. Too hasty man.
Would be curious what a video of you sending this to black magic for repair would look like and was your experience with them good? Might make for a good video
BMPC: If you hold the power button ‘too long’ it will blink and shut down. Hold the power button for two seconds, let go and it will start up like a second later. That’s been the case with my 2015 since new.

To the overheating question, there aren't a lot of choices now. Basically pick one of those, if you beed autofocus too: Sony FX30, Panasonic GH7, S5II or S5IIX. If you don't need AF, the original S5 and most older m4/3 cameras will do (G85, GH5 etc)
I own 2 Canon C70s with speed boosters. I think you'd really like the image... its soft, well saturated and of course has good dynamic range. Its the colours though... they look so dense and rich, yet natural. The R5s files either look too sharp or mushy (depending on the mode), and the colours are never quite as solid. As long as you keep the ISO under 4000 on the C70, its image is unbeatable. And here's the kicker... I'm in the UK and just got a quote to sell one of mine..... £1600 ! There's no way I'm selling it for anything close to that. But it does indicate that now the C80 is out there's going to be some serious used bargains to be had on C70s shortly.
Turning up the light makes your background darker because of the inverse square law. In simple terms, the light hitting your face is much more intense than the light that's traveled all the way across the room and back to the sensor. It's just the same as using your flash. Crank the light up to blinding and the background disappears entirely.
For lighting I may suggest a hibachi, some charcoal briquettes, and a can of lighter fluid. Lay out the briquettes, squirt liberal amounts of lighter fluid and light away! The hibachi is compact, and the flames will keep you warm in the winter up there in Canada.
The batteries are serialized, try and external adapter. If that works, one of the serialized batteries balance charge capacitors or mosfets have gone bad. Their really expensive, but you could use a checker to test the capacitor or mosfett inside the battery. Get one the T100 soldering irons, put a gob of low melt solder, then use the solder sucker, its black magic, work fine with low melt, but regular tin solder sticks alot better. The trick is to clean the surface really well, the get three feet of 0.1mm, you feed a foot at a time, its just like mig welding, ain't gonna do much.
@FPVwineUK Made 4k on LUMN today, still 3k down on GNLN, this one guy had like a housekeeper and this tiny little wife, not a dumpster fire, but all work and no play will kill you after 30.
My condolences for your loss! Hope flat earth Santa or someone hears your cries and tears! Never a fun day when equipment breaks! Take care and thanks for entertaining us!
The reason the back ground gets dark when you turn up the light, I think it is called "the inverse square law" if you are 1m from the light then something 2m away will get 1/4 the light that hits you, if it is 3m away it will get 1/9th the amount of light that hits you, and of course you are exposing for yourself so the back ground will appear darker, intendo ?
I have an OG and a sigma FP. If I had to keep one, it would be the FP. If my OG went out, I wouldn’t replace it either. The FP is 100 times better, but I wouldn’t go out and buy a new one. I would get a used one.
Back in my MFT days, I used the Olympus 12-40 f/2.8 pro lens. The lens is so good that when I took a fall and the lens took a whack and then wouldn't zoom from 12-18, I bought a second 12-40 pro. The lens is that good. If my Sony A74 took a dive, I'd strongly consider another to replace it. And if my SoundDevices MixPre 10 ii completely died, I'd likely replace it the same week. That thing is that good. But beyond that, I'd likely replace what I have (GH5, A7Siii, full Sigma E-mount set, 2 RED Komodos, DZO Vespid set, Insta ACE pro) with something better. Photography and film making tools improve so much every 24 months that there are few pieces that hold their dominance for more than a few years. It really comes down to personal preference and comfort for me.
R5C is the only accessible full frame cinema camera from Canon. That Wide DR profile is amazing straight out of the camera. Full time filmmaker has a interesting video about it. But for RUclips scrubs R5ii makes more sense. You can't beat those skin tones and that Canon glass that will never come back.

Have you disconnected all power sources (additional battery and removed the original battery) and left it like that for a few minutes. Maybe it will work. It is possible that the contact of the additional battery is making a short circuit. Try to turn on only with the original battery in the body.
I gave it away, he got it to work. It was working with internal batteries but those don't last long. And sometimes it would turn on with the DC plug. I don't miss it lol.
@cameraconspiracies Did you try to turn the BMPCC OG on with only a normal battery in it? Because maybe it is the electronics in your np-f battery plate.
Yes, and it worked but that's no solution for me. Those batteries last 20 seconds lol. I also tried with the DC plug and it didn't work. I gave it away, and the guy says it works for him, cause he uses batteries. I'm happy it's gone lol.
A stupid question but are you sure you are not pressing the power button for too long? I recall that the OG initiates shutdown immediately if the power button is pressed for too long. Most newer BMD products require a looong press to turn on and won't shut down if you end up pressing the button for too long.
Get the canon r5 c. That will satisfy your needs. For now. You could join the Sony fx30 or fx3 club . The Sony just discovered shutter angle. Because you're cheap you'll probably get the DJI osmo action 5 pro. It needs an update for the over sharpening.

If you had to buy an iPhone you did it wrong or are boomering super hardcore. Grab the APK direct from DJI and have a nice day. Even on your latest Samsung. Please stop mouthbreathing about payola when you don't even understand your own phone.
@@POVwithRC Ok Mr. Clever Clogs my Galaxy A14 would not run the app that DJI
required me to use, to get into the video camera. The phone was two months old. So I bought an Iphone to get it working. I didn't mind I prefer an iPhone. My point was no one ever in any review ever mentioned that maybe you should check to see if your phone would run the app. To actualy allow the camera to start! No they were all happy to take their "free" Pocket 3 and tell the world how good it was. Probably because they all had the very latest $2000 mobile. Incidently you might find with a modicum of observation you probably breath through your mouth too.
@@madrazproductions5776 Thank you for your informed observation.
Filming shirtless men in 960fps. .... .... thanks.
