- Simple tutorial showing how to reset any Windows 7/8/10 account password using Windows Recovery Environment.
Reset Windows 7/8/10 Password

The Ease of Access Center Method
Reboot into Windows recovery environment. If you don't have one, create a bootable USB using the method described in • How to create Bootable... or just burn a Windows 7/8/10 ISO to a DVD.
Boot using the USB / DVD.
Click Next - Repair My Computer - Troubleshoot - Advanced Options -Command Prompt
or Simply press Shift+F10 anytime.
Type the following commands:
cd /d C:\Windows\System32
ren Utilman.exe Utilman.exe.bak
copy cmd.exe Utilman.exe
Here, we basically change the executable for Ease of Access Center with that of command prompt.
Type exit and click on 'Turn off your PC'.
Now, remove the USB and boot into Windows.
Now, click on 'Ease of Access' icon. A command prompt will open.
Now, you have two choices. Either you activate the admin account, login, and then reset the password for other user, or, change password directly.
In case of 1st option, type this:
net user administrator /active:yes
net user administrator *
..Type the password here. It won't be visible, for security reasons :)
In case of second option, type this:
net user
..See the username of the user you want to reset password for
net user replace_this_word_with_username *
..Type the password here. It won't be visible, for security reasons :)
Type exit and hit enter.
In the video, I followed the first method.
Time to revert back changes.
Click on 'Ease of Access Center' again
In case of 1st option, type this:
net user administrator /active:no
Type exit and hit enter.
In case of 2nd option, do nothing :)
Boot again, to the recovery environment. Open Command prompt. Now type:
cd /d C:\Windows\System32
del Utilman.exe
ren Utilman.exe.bak Utilman.exe
exit
Now remove the bootable media and reboot back to Windows!
Done! :D
That is all folks! :D

kamal lohmod, it was a while ago, but think it was retrieve original key from PC (with CMD included) and upgrade from 'within' Windows, not 'boot' directly to USB. My memory not what it once was.
Sorry, ignore that ... I suspect manual removal of password as per guidelines.

I have a slight problem now, i couldnt change the local account passoword so I deleted it which i was left with only the administrator account
So I deactivated that
Now with the last part to delete it through code, it showed access denied.
How is this to be fixed?
Also I cannot access the administrator account due to the fact that i deleted it even if it just appears as user on the screen?
Should i take it to someone or can it be fixed?
What happens when you try to activate the admin account again? Just create a simple user after that and login as that.

Ty! Worked great. I chose method one. Now how do i remove pw on my sons account to hopefully prevent this from happening again? I already changed him from Admin to standard.

haven't been able to download an iso file onto my memory card or usb stick. I then have to change boot sequence which isntveasy on a Dell.

Msoft won't allow me to reset password as they won't accept my answers as good enough. even though I only sent test emails after setting up account.

if neither of the commands above work for some reason you can also type "control userpasswords2" in the command prompt and it opens a window from which you can easily change the password :)

The accounts listed when hitting net user are admin, guest & plate king for me. However, Mike Dimarco is the one I am trying to get into so I don't know what to do in this case. Any advice?
Just enable the admin account and set a password for it, then login using the admin account and then change the password for Mike Dimarco

Your internal hard disk might not be getting identified. Does your motherboard recognize it? If it does, you will be able to see it's capacity and/or model number in the BIOS/UEFI settings.

I think the latest upgrade of win10 has locked the file. I cant access it through Linux even. :(

+Nehal J Wani never mind.. my problem is that Windows is installed on the C: drive but when I was putting the same command in cmd it wasn't working so I changed C: to E: and it worked .. still don't know why but the good thing I was able to regain access and now I have 2 admins just in case .. lol

Mine is windows 7 pro. The user name is AGA\lnguyen. I did the same thing but did not see "Administrator" login option popping out.
Edit: I got it. Just login into different domain with the ending is administrator .

1 i followd your first steps it went well until i tried to open the easy acces thats when i discoverd i v made a speedy mistake 2zo making it undone following your steps their went somthing wrong and it say that Utilman.exe is damage or unreadible

so how do you fix damaged or unreadible file
You can try replacing that file with a fresh one from another computer running the same version of Windows. Send a chat request to me on hangouts for quicker response.
Will this only work on local passwords?
What do you mean by local passwords?
Well for example for Windows 10 it uses as well as your Microsoft account to access your information. Yes you could also just do an account without using an email but if someone let's say use there email as there account this won't work correct?

Did you follow the video in this tutorial? I never boot in safe mode. I boot using a rescue media and then move a file.

Actually, no. This was all done in a virtual environment and I forgot to pass the flag '-usbdevice tablet' to qemu without which, a Windows VM sees two mouse pointers for some weird reason. Also, 'he' is me :-)

Yo Please reply im fucking tired of this shit I get the blue screen EVERY time I try to access the D, E ANY drive except for the USB. It says FAT_FILE_SYSTEM computer encoutered an error and needs to restart yata yata. I get into the drive on CMD for like 5 seconds before this happens.

Is your Windows account synced with your Microsoft account? In that case this method won't work.
What do you mean
If you login using a PIN or your microsoft account's password, then this method won't work. It only works for local accounts.
I uploaded my laptop old version to Windows 10. Set up windows live email and password. I also set up the pin password to unlock the laptop quickly.
