    SO appreciate hearing people delve into and helping to articulate
    the complexities of being human with all of the incredible diversity of experience - there is such a range of possibilities for sexuality & gender identity. At 60, i am ace, sex positive, non-binary and bi (& wonder what life would've been like if this level of awareness was happening when I was your age.) Big thanks!❤

    So I don't see as many of these types of videos anymore, maybe because they are not trending, but these kind of publicized stories, imo, are very, very necessary. There are still, way too many people scared to be themselves because of the unknown. If we share our stories, they too can realize that indeed, it does get better.💚

    Two of my faves in one video! Love this collab, you two interact so well together and would love to see more ❤️
    I no longer speak to half of my family (nothing to do with sexuality or anything specific, they were just toxic and generally sh*t) so I relate on that level to Jackie's story. 100% here for the message that if someone is toxic you cut them out, whoever they are 👏

    This was very informative and it is nice to seeing two guys talking about their experiences. Jackie really has had some experiences and overcome many challenges. He has focus and knows who he is. He has moved past the challenges and can share openly. I feel for him and understand overcoming the difficult background and he still made the right choices. He got out of the toxic situations. It is a journey. It was interesting hearing about your experiences as well. Well put together video Courtney. Keep it interesting and your channel stays interesting. Thank you for the effort.

    I also had a series of a-ha moments because of Alice sharing her beautiful universe with us. I'm almost 50, and I finally understand myself to be aroace (although I've always known I was queer.) My journey started a year ago, and I'm still having a-ha moments. Thank you both so much for sharing with us.

    I totally relate to Jackie when it comes to family. I’m still not out to my parents for a lot of reasons. My dad’s homophobic, he says homophobic things whenever something queer related shows up on a tv show or movie and just walks away/storms off. He didn’t even want me to wear a shirt just because it had the word gay on it because he doesn’t agree with what it stands for. My mom is just as bad as he is. Last year, my mom criticized me for wearing a Heartstopper shirt in public when all it was was Nick and Charlie holding each other at the beach scene at the end of season 1. And what’s worse is that she used the “think of the children” excuse. She apologized but it was a half assed apology. The only person in my family I came out to was my sister. She was more accepting but she wasn’t there for me when I was dealing with them, she was too busy making her own family. Now I have suspicions that she might have outed me to her friends, her husband, and to her baby because I’ve seen pictures of her baby wearing a rainbow heart onesie. When I make enough money to move out of my parents house, I don’t ever want to see my family again, I’m sick and tired of revolving around their pretentious, sanctimonious, self absorbed, smug little worlds just so they could stay happy. So yeah, family is so full of shit.

    i really think the Issac character does a huge disservice to asexual people. just because you're asexual doesn't mean you're anti-social and boring. i see little difference between having your head in books vs your head in your phone when you're in social situations. if they weren't able to put in the effort to have him be a real character, they should have just dropped him. oddly, in the latest comic that dropped it's Tori that is asexual. Tori clearly has tons of personality and is very compelling to know more about her.

    • @Newest_editsjustbecause
      @Newest_editsjustbecause 11 месяцев назад +4

      Isaac isn't anti social and boring. He's actually very intuitive, opinionated, funny, and excitable... He's just that friend that doesn't just talk to talk, he talks when he has something to say. I was the same way growing up. I read a lot, but I was still listening, still part of the conversation when I had something to add. If you read Isaac as boring, that's on you. The point of him not being a huge part of season 1, is because it was so focused on everyone coupling up and he wasn't a part of that, and that's what happens as friends do that, single friends tend to fall into the background.. and season 2 he had plenty of storyline, and lots of great moments.

    • @michaelthomas3821
      @michaelthomas3821 11 месяцев назад

      @@Newest_editsjustbecause sorry, it's a myth that people can multitask. look it up. the Issac character has no development. the most memorable thing he did was read Harry, but that was pretty minimal in comparison to all of the other characters. but it's still rude to constantly be anti-social. to be asexual doesn't mean you are an emotional black hole. if anything, it frees you to released from the expectations and share.

    • @Newest_editsjustbecause
      @Newest_editsjustbecause 11 месяцев назад +5

      @@michaelthomas3821 you can't just tell me to "look up" something and have it prove my lived experience wrong, tf? I literally just told you I can read and stay in a conversation. I can read and cook a whole meal. And being someone who reads a lot certainly doesn't make someone uninteresting. Also, "being antisocial is rude"? Excuse the f*ck out of me it is not. Some people have social anxiety, some people feel drained from social interactions, some people don't enjoy being social, some people are more comfortable being in their own world and joining when they feel like it... What is rude is thinking it's okay to shame people for not falling into your social norms. Neurodivergent people also exist, pretty interesting of you to not consider them in what is socially acceptable to you... People don't fit into boxes that way. And he did plenty more outside of the Harry thing. All of his storyline involving James, the way he supported Tao with Elle, the way he helped with prom, he didn't read the entire prom after-party. The way that you're acting like he didn't give a good aroace rep while simultaneously fully dismissing his entire discovery journey, as if it didn't happen, is so backwards. And he's not "an emotional black hole" he's literally so excitable and supportive and silly in most of his scenes... It's like you aren't watching the same character at all.
