  • I’m sorry to say it, but it’s true. Granola is a topping and not the star of the show.
    🎯 Deliciously, crunchy and crispy, granola can add plenty of incredible nutrients to our breakfast. The problem is that when we eat shop bought granola, we are eating a high carb food that may not fill us up until lunchtime and may only deliver short-term energy. Also the portion size to fill it up is normally greater than we actually require.
    🎯 While granola is healthier than cornflakes or rice crispies, commercial granola can still be rich in sugars and lower in protein.
    🎯 Adding granola as a topping to your full fat yoghurt, kefir, or quark, with a large handful of berries adds in healthy fats, fibre and protein, all of which are digested slower than simple carbohydrates.
    🎯 Eating all good groups together will slow down the foods absorption in the small intestines. This can help to keep your blood sugars more stable.
    🎯 This makes it easier for you to keep your energy on an even keel all morning, and reduces hunger pangs that send you heading for the biscuit barrel by 11 o’clock.
    🎯 So, it’s not about avoiding food groups, it’s about eating them in the right proportion for us, as human beings. When we eat in tune with nature, we generally feel better, have more energy, better digestion, Balance, energy and improved blood sugar and hormone balance.
