Waylon Jennings played his last major concert at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium in January 2000. Waylon and I traveled thousands of miles together during the 70's. From Elko NV to Carleston, W. VA. Texas north to Montana and Idaho. We never met actually. I was a supervisor with an Oil and Gas Exploration company, (Doodle Buggers)! His tapes played in my old 8 track every mile of the way. Some songs made me laugh, some cry, about all of them made me think. I was sometimes asked, by those unfamiliar with, and skeptical of, that way of life, how we did it, moving from state to state, town to town, every few weeks. Told them I only needed three things to make the trip. Thermos of coffee, carton of Marlboros, and Waylon in the 8 track. Strange really, how you can miss someone so much, that you never really knew.
@PastorDavidJMiner That's great!!! I bet you truly enjoy that. You know, I still have most of those old 8 track tapes. The "Red Headed Stranger" album is among them. I thought for years that I would have them digitized, but never did. They're too brittle now to handle, but the memories they bring are still strong. I was going through a bunch of stuff recently, when I came across the 8 track tape box. I set there and let my mind wander back to, what I consider, much better years. I was with the company in the eastern division, when I got transferred to the Rocky Mtn division. I left Charleston, W. Va. for Elko, Nevada. Me, Waylon and Willie. Thanks for listening! Be well.
Grew up listening to waylon as a child and still my daily favorite. Nothing catches Jesus by surprise!!! Thank you Jesus for your sacrifice that we all may have hope to see you one day.
When i was a little girl my grandmother listened to Waylon. I listen to him and feel close to her. But no nothing catches Jesus by suprise. Thank you Waylon you will always be apart of a bond that was special to me.

This concert was spectacular. We knew it was the final one, and Waylon gave it his all making people like you and me wish we could go back in time and see it in person.

I recall dad & mom sharing "Storms Never Last" as one of their favorites.
