Vlog: Five Nights in Snowdonia

In the run up to my birthday, I decided to treat myself to a few days in North Wales. I wasn't able to do anything at this time last year, due to Covid restrictions. At other times, I've used words like 'expense' and 'travelling alone' as reasons to not bother.
With a lot of planning beforehand, I booked myself in to a hotel for the first two nights and then a bunkhouse for the final three. This helped to keep the costs down a bit.
Planning the walks was the easy bit! I already knew of two routes that I'd been wanting to do since my last visit to Snowdonia in 2019.
I'll put links below to each of the walking routes I followed and my accommodation. I'll also be uploading longer videos for each of the walks from this vlog and overview of my trip.

Things go as they go sometimes Olly but you rolled with it. If you got tired you rested and you toured a bit and walked. I'd agree with you that was a good break - fairly varied. Now that was a treat to have the bunkhouse to yourself. Me and and Andy had a whole YHA room to ourselves on the Wye Valley walk and it cost next to nothing. It felt good. Glad to hear you were cool with your birthday on your own out there. I'm thinking of doing the same thing this year for mine. I look forward to the walking videos. Take care as always. Mark
Hi Mark,
I am one for making plans and trying to stick to them. A few years ago, I might've pushed myself up Arenig Fawr and away from that rest day. It's nice to see places and meet people with less of the extertion. But given the weather I was treated to, I was able to achieve a lot and very satisfied with that.
Of course, I recommend the idea of taking yourself away for any occassion. I wasn't pining for any one person - the last is in my past. Left behind. I've moved on. I did struggle with the initial drive up (and that contributed to my migraine) but overcame it to enjoy the week.

Great video Olly. Cant wait to see the full length vids of the walks. The snow scenes were amazing especially the timelapse from the bunkhouse. I enjoyed the timelapse going back home. I recognised a lot of the places on the way back as that is the same route we use when visiting Snowdonia. The Llan Ffestiniog area is lovely. We've only had a little explore of that area but I would like to explore it more fully when we next visit. 🙂🙂

Nice summary of your trip to Snowdonia Olly and a great birthday treat for you. How fab was that having that bunkhouse to yourself. Looked like a brilliant location too with the views you had. I went to Snowdonia back in 2015 and stayed in the Travelodge at Porthmadog, but it did the job and I managed to spend one day around Ffestiniog whilst there which I thought was a beautiful area. I look forward to seeing the longer videos of your trip. All the best 👍
