Thank you for sharing your journey here. I am half Scottish but far away so dont get to visit but dream of moving back and of staying in a bothy sometime.
I often have bouts of low mood and agree sometimes nature is the best medicine. I think being honest and sharing thoughts and feelings only helps over time, knowing that others have sinilar struggles.
Please keep sharing, it is uplifting, and I will gladly follow along vicariously.

Thank you so much for your lovely words xx I hope your dreams come true and you will be able to move back here. I can totally understand how someone is drawn so much to this country, and especially for you being half Scottish it must be even more powerful. It is truly a beautiful country of yours. And that is so true what you are saying about being honest and sharing your thoughts. I had strong depression a few years ago and had to go to therapy, in the beginning I felt like I failed in life and was ashamed to talk about it but now I am opened about it, because it is exactly how you say. The more we talk about it, the more others will feel less alone as they see that there are people out there with similar struggles. I hope to achieve that with my videos. And just a disclaimer, I never want to claim that a walk in nature magically heals you from depression. I am glad I had access to therapy when I needed it. But being in nature definitely helps me to lift my spirits, at least for the day. Hope you have a lot of nature days too, and thank you so much for being here with me. I truly appreciate it! xx

That was a tonic for me to join you from here bog bashing and all. I really felt your joy and decision to come on out. You certainly made the right one - the views, the camp and the chat. It's so good to talk amid the nature that heals. Well, good going. A new subscriber here on account of the great vibes. Mark

Was so lucky with the weather though. And healing it was for sure! Hope you enjoy all the other videos to come. Thank you for being here :)

Fantastic , well done , hope you feel better after a few days in the hills . I stayed in that wee bothy too a couple of years ago . Really bad for midges.

Thank you so much! I feel better and worse, going up and down like those hills :) It's time for another escape I believe. So great to hear that you stayed in that bothy too. I think that's one magical thing about them, to spend a night there and to either feel the presence of the previous wanderer, to read about them in the guest book or to then meet them randomly, like here on youtube! And oh yes, those midges were on fire...

Fantastic video 👏🏻 My brother and I enjoyed walking the Minigaig a few years back, it’s a lesser known trail which is good! New subscriber here, delighted to see you here in Scotland 🤩

      @walkstheshire  2 месяца назад

Thank you so much! I also stumbled upon this pass quite randomly while searching for a bothy that’s easy to reach via train + walk as I don’t drive. I think if the Minigaig Pass was on walkhighlands, more people would do it. But you are right, I was so glad that it’s lesser known as I enjoyed this remoteness so much!
Thank you for your kind comment, people in Scotland definitely make me feel more than welcome 😍

I think “shite” was the first word I incorporated into my own language after moving here 😂
I am glad I inspired you for another wander in the outdoors. We might meet out there 😊

I'm only halfway through but can already see that you're a natural presenter.
I fully identify with your thoughts about being outdoors and what it does to make you happy from times that are not so good for your feelings.
I absolutely love Scotland and spend as much time walking, cycling and canoeing up there as I can.
My area in the north of England is nice enough but it is Scotland where my heart lies.
Being in the outdoors, anywhere, is my drug-free medicine of late, it recharges my mental batteries like nothing else.
I'll now watch the rest of your video 😁

    • @walkstheshire
      @walkstheshire  2 месяца назад

Thank you so much for your words 🙏 I could relate to every single one of them.
Being outdoors truly is the best medicine. It might not work as a final solution for deep and long lasting struggles, but as you say, it definitely recharges our batteries to help us dealing with our wounded hearts and minds.
I want to explore the north of England very soon! Would love to visit Cumbria and the Lake District. But I agree, Scotland is where the heart lies 💚
Thank you for your kind words on my video, they mean a lot. I try to improve with every video I post and I am happy to see that it works 😊

    Great video!
I fully get what you mean about being out there.
I find it's amazingly healthy for my mind.
I did the Minigaig in May this year - thankfully not a midge to be seen.
But I did it the other way around, starting at Kingussie.
Like you, I took the route over the moorland from Kingussie instead of the long walk. I think its mich more scenic.
Yeah, what can I say, the middle third of that walk was a constant "find the path, lose the path, cross a river, cross a bog, etc" 😂
Finding a tent pitch amongst it was a case of "nope, not walking anymore, this will do."
Enjoy your travels, wherever your feet may take you.

Oh and and let me just say:
      Waterproof socks.
They've been a game changer for me.
I let my normal socks get soaked on the first day then second and third days I wore the waterproof socks in my wringing wet boots 👍

That is a beautiful tip, thank you so much for sharing this! Don't know how I never thought about waterproof socks yet. So great to read that you have done the Minigaig too! A bit jealous though of the no-midge-situation :D And yes, I am totally reliving the bogs now after reading your comment. They haunted me for a while after :D I should have just pitched my tent there too, I decided to get out of boggyland and then I got quite stressed as it started getting dark. Luckily everything turned out to be ok.
Thank you so much for watching, it means a lot!

Hello there I enjoyed the video and your philosophy on life. It would be a good idea to take a copy of The Bible with you on these reflective journeys, because God answers many
questions by the reveaa New Testaments, for a full revelation of what God wants us to be and that he will enable us to do it. He is always with us and never tires of answering your questions, maybe not right away, but He does answer us. With Him all things are possible, but without Hjm we can do nothing,
Thank you for your kind words about Scotland, it will always be here and you are very welcome to enjoy its people and places.
I hope you keep well, remember, God is always with us as His Holy Spirit resides in us.
    Safe journeying.
