Hiya. Get yourself a decent headlamp. So much more practical than a torch. Great for walking incase you ever need to move quickly after dark. Also get some waterproof socks. It doesn't matter how your boots feel with waterproof socks. Great video's. Keep it up. Charlie X 😜
Enjoying your wild camping videos immensely. As long as you're enjoying what you're doing, you shouldn't give a hoot what other people think. We're all learning, all of the time and this is only your third wild camp. I did my first last week and loved it. Keep going and looking forward to the next one.
Lovely video with some great drone shots. Please don’t worry about getting everything right. The only things that matter are your safe and enjoying what your doing ……… x
Sod what anyone else thinks! If it works it works - who cares if it’s proper or not! As long as you wake up the next morning, it’s never a serious mistake and it’s part of the fun of wild camping, blazing your own trail. For safety I keep a torch and headlamp for safety but my camp is only lit by a UCO lantern, which kicks out a surprising amount of light for a single candle. Makes it look more cozy. I think for the weight cost, I’d rather just stick a tarp over my tent/bivvy as it’s easier to dry the tarp than the whole tent. Just bought the OEX expedition tarp but now I’ve seen it in videos, the pack size seems huge compared to the cheap tarp I bought off Amazon! Really good video, thanks for sharing! It’s not the destination, it’s the journey! A great experience doesn’t have to end in a particular place, it’s about the fun of being out in the wild!
Hi lilu. Great video and you are doing great too. I would recommend some things. If you had a larger tarp you could set it up so it covers your tent and gives you an admin area. By having the tarp over your tent if it rains only the tarp gets wet you can pack away a dry tent and only have to dry the tarp which will dry very quickly. Or do away with the tent and use your bivvy bag with the tarp. A 3x3m tarp is great Mike
But what an epic 3 miles, nice camp spot, good food, you slept well and had fun. One thing though be careful spraying insect repellent on your waterproof as some can damage the waterproofness of your jacket. Really nice area great drone shots along the stream.
Loving your videos! You're doing great, especially solo. Mistakes are the best way to learn. The process of fine tuning your kit as you grow & learn is a fun part of the process. Best wishes moving forward!!
Another great video in your usual laid back style 👍. After getting wet boots in my first forays into wild camping, I splashed out on some waterproof socks, money well spent, so nice to have dry feet all day!. Looking forward to your next adventure....thank you 👍
Great video. Regularly change my trail due to unforseen things. Enjoy yourself and make your videos. It's more real for us viewers. Great job as always ❤
You are quite right with your attitude towards the people who will tell you your doing it all wrong. Your having fun and learning. Lighting and maintaining a wood fire, either on the ground or in a box is challenging and we will let you in on a secret…even the seasoned YT bushcrafters are bringing some sort of firelighters with them. Cos it’s a long night when the fire doesn’t light😉
You're having fun, and it works, so you are doing it right. For the midges, I would urge you get a midge head net, and some long fingerless lycra gloves (I think cyclists use them but great for stopping the wee b*stards.) Citronella tea light candles are brilliant for in the tent. You also may want to look at getting a pair of gaiters to help keep boots dry, especially if crossing streams walking through bogs. When packing a wet tent is a good idea to pack the outer in a separate stuff sack, have it easy to get to in the rucsac, that way you can take it out and let it dry a bit every time you stop for a wee strategic cuppa. Excellent video!
Excellent video. Hike your own hike as the Americans say and don't worry about anyone else. Take on board constructive advice. Ignore the trolls. I foresee this channel is going to grow exponentially as will your skill and knowledge. Cheers. Ken
@kenhenley7599 haha just a childhood nickname ( Lisa is my name) and the "where to now, lilu?" Comes from one of my fave children's books "where to now, Blue?" About a 12 Yr old girl who ran away from home to go on an adventure. lol it's always stuck with me
Another great video thoroughly enjoyed it again looked fun and dont worry what others think as long as you enjoy yourself we are always learning . Keep it up and look forward to next video
thank you for taking us with you, at least you got out and maybe learned a few things so not a loss, i love the fact that you are careful, i'm looking forward to seeing your next trip 🥰
@Adventures with lilu well done !! lovely little camp.. carrying a pack that heavy , 4 miles up a mountain !!! Is an achievement... I camped up at kinda down a cpl of weeks ago and the noise of those planes, when your up there is extraordinary !!.. put dubbing on your boots to improve waterproofness.... carry a cpl of those disposable hand warmers in your first aid kit.. they are so versatile. As soon as you can take your wet boots off ,, pop the hand warmers in and in the morning ,, warm dry boots... the warmers work on contact with air so if you have hardly used them put them in an air tight and they will turn off till next time... put a disposable foil flan case thing under you twig stove and no-one can claim you scorched the earth..... play safe and shine on xxx
Another great film love the way you come over as an honest person and not as a well seasoned hiker you make mistakes but show great enthusiasm love it keep it up
Always beautiful scenery are you camp. The stream going through it was amazing. You know I don't know that there is a right way to do things just different ways to accomplish it. Stay healthy and dry, Looking forward to the next one.
You are doing fantastic for a beginner. It's always better to be safe than sorry. You did wonderful with your little firebox. As long as you are enjoying yourself that's what matters. Stay well and be safe.
As others have said, look into a headlamp as well. Very nice having both hands free and still able to see at night. Even in the house I walk around with an Olight i1r2 light (around $20 here in the US on Amazon, should be cheap there in the UK as well) attached to a tiny carabiner that I clip to a zipper. It's so light in weight, I don't even know it is there while walking around. 😁 It's rechargable only, no batter. Some other mini lights have batteries. Please do not feel insecure about what you're doing, the nitpicking "pros" whining can go kick rocks. 😉 We are always learning, even the pros don't do EVERYthing perfectly. Anyone with a bit of mental maturity knows that and doesn't have high expectations, especially from someone who is new. As usual, a great video from you and, again, that music is freaking amazing, especially at the end. Dang girl I love your taste. 😄 \o/
I've done that exact walk many times and pitched where you did, great spot for a camp and back in Hayfield there's a fantastic coffee house called Marmalade which does great food and coffee, the owner is really friendly and nice she saved me from starvation a fee years ago when I forgot cutlery and she gave me some for my camp Thanks for sharing the awesome video I'm up Kinder tomorrow for a hike and camp
Red Brook is a great way up Kinder especially in full winter conditions. Love the spot where you camped. Nowhere near as busy as some of the routes up the hill. You are correct about silver birch, nature's firelighter but try not to burn any live wood. It just doesn't burn that well. Loved the drone footage. Thanks for another great video.
Taking one of the smaller gas cannisters would save you some weight and rucksack space. You can even refill from your larger cannister using one of the inexpensive gizmos. Great that you're out despite the rather grim combo of midges and rain.
Hi there, Ive just discovered you. Thoroughly enjoyed your vid and love the honesty you have too! Regardless of experience, you have produced a vid which is entertaining and fun to watch. Look forward to the next adventure! 🙂
There's no right way or wrong way there is only one way, and that's the way we do thing as individuals, everyone has their own take on things and that's perfectly fine.
I use a cheap camo tarp for sitting under and extend it over the tent so the tent packs up dry. I use an alloy two pole spreader from Temu each end with some old tent poles I had laying around, the three part steel ones. it’s amazing how you just shake off the rain from the old tarp, it’s 3x3. After years of avoiding. Ready meals, I gave in and brought a ready made meal for just over £5 from the Steak Detective. It’s steak, dumplings and carrots and you just heat up in the packet in boiling water. I have a brilliant meths Swedish Army Stove..I love your videos solely because you are a beginner and that no one else does this.
Great video , good to see people enjoying the wild camping . Do tour feet a favour and get yourself a pair of haix cold wet weather boots , goretex lined ,, you won't have cold or wet feet again and you can stomp through those streams with no worry of slips or soggy feet 😊
It may not be right but as long as it’s right for you that’s all that matters. Love watching your videos the only thing I can comment on is the tarp if I were you I would get at least a 2m x2m But if you can afford to get a 3m x3 m that is what I would get gives you loads of options even to the point of making shelters. More than happy to answer any questions I can I’m no expert myself but if I don’t know an answer I usually know where to find it lol
Well alright by me. Some people get really an*l about it all, but they'd be like that in life anyway camping or no. I forget there's hills down there. Living on a Fell - good song title for an 80's hair band - I get passing mists and rain clouds almost daily - but no biggie. I'm sweltering at the moment with this heat - fan on all day and night. In summer i mostly use a thin sleeping bag and even just a liner as sleep very hot. To keep boots dry may I suggest a carrier bag and stuff with microfibre towels.
Brilliant little adventure there Lilu. Great to see you enjoying yourself and learning as you go. Keep the adventures coming. ATVB from a Brit expat now living in sunny Malaysia 👍🏕🇲🇾
Always remember its your adventure you do it your way.i take citronella incense sticks when the midges are out also smidge repellent is the best ive found also they do midge nets.another tip get a spongi and wipe your tent down its amazing how much weight the water adds on a wer tent.
Hi Lilu I read in Trail magazine a few years back that if you have a shot of Whiskey/Whisky every night the week before you go on a hike it keeps the midges away, something to do with excreting the drink through the pores of you skin that they don't like, I don't know if it works as I've never tried it but I will be trying it next week if the weather keeps warm, even if it doesn't work it's an excuse for a tipple. Looks like you had a great time again (apart from the midges), great video, stay safe, stay free.
Great video 👍 I use the foot print for a tent as a tarp. Works just as well 😊 good job getting a fire going in that rain! It can be a nightmare sometimes when everything is wet 😅
Love your vlogs ! Excellent content and eagerly await your next go up to Mermaid Pool and the Downfall on Kinder Scout. It's a wonderful place in good weather. God luck Lilu !!
Another great video. Love my Bushbox and often use as a windshield for a spirit burner. I have to say your bag looks really heavy but I suppose doing RUclips you end up carrying extra power banks and filming kit.
I’m surprised you managed to dodge the crowds as well as you did do. Pork looked nice, good job you didn’t add the mushrooms you were talking about as they were Amanita muscaria, not good eating unless you are a Viking!! Everyone is moaning about the midges this year, and the heather looked gorgeous. Shame the weather was against you, as you said no views from the top. Gather you are off again, hope you get better weather and maybe find a friend for Cedric🤣😂
I may have put that grill on top of the bars, more air would mean less smoke. But other than the green wood you cut off you did pretty good for only your third 'wild' camp. I've been camping my whole life and don't think I'd have done anything different! Keep it up! Bread bags are a good solution for wet boots. A few in a zipper bag weigh next to nothing and keep your feet warm on day 2! Also good for dish rags and wet socks!
Great video again, ive said before its good to see someone reasonably new to wild camping and being totally honest about their adventures (something sadly lacking with others lol) but can i just say DD tarps are worth the money, the 3x3 the most popular will cover most needs and price wise you get quality that you can't improve on (honestly)
Wow, I thought you did an excellent job....part of the fun is finding your own way to do things, making mistakes along the way as we all do, and having fun whilst doing so. I personally thought you were brilliant and being a novice wild camper with the same approach to things as you, I am very impressed. Keep doing what you are doing and keep those videos coming.....😀
You are doing really well reminds me of my Marine days on Dartmoor. I allways used a Swedish Trangia meths stove, but we allways find a stove we like. Allways a pleasure to watch your adventures. Stay safe x
U are making the right desisions at the right time, enjoy loads of whole new adventures, go out ur comfort zone, you'll never regret, but you'll always learn. Did u adjust ur pak length to fit ur body length?
Really enjoyed watching your video… One thing I’ve learnt about camping, is there are absolutely no rules and most of it is learnt by trial and error? Hope you do some more videos soon 👍
I am really enjoying watching your videos. Love the drone footage, and you are very natural in front of the camera. May I ask what make your red and black trousers are?
Wet wood smoke is good for keeping the midges away . I also noticed the airlines flying over to Manchester airport forgot my ear plugs and it was constant noise
Enjoyed watching your video, something I could never be bothered to do with all the walking back for the camera, editing etc etc. Thank you. Quite fascinating really watching someone new to the outdoors not actually making a complete pigs ear of it, well done! When I was 14, 15 years old I used to spend a lot of time in the Hayfield, Kinder Downfall, Edale area and your film brought back many happy memories from 61 years ago. A bit of obvious advice from an old man which might be useful: as you were carrying trekking poles why not use them for balance crossing the stream? I suppose you have to hold the camera with one hand, but you still have another hand to hold a walking pole.
Such lovely scenery you have chosen in hills
It’s great to watch someone learning their way. It’s much more fun than someone who knows it all. Well done
Thank u kindly
The only way your going to learn is find your own way then you will get better as time goes on 😊
I love your choice in background music 🎶
Thank you, it's my favourite part of editing. Brings the video alive 🙌🏻
Hiya. Get yourself a decent headlamp. So much more practical than a torch. Great for walking incase you ever need to move quickly after dark. Also get some waterproof socks. It doesn't matter how your boots feel with waterproof socks.

The drone footage at the beginning was excellent Lilu! You've nailed it now. Great video again 😊
Thanks so much! 😊

Great determination - thank you - have had many a wet camp but it is all worth it as the endurance pays off
Finding your own way is the best way sometimes. I would look at getting the pack size down first tho lol😃
Definitely!!

Ahhh ok thanks for the advice
No no no
Never never never cut live branches from trees.
Apart from that I'm loving your videos
Pretty sure that was a dead branch
You might not have gone where you planned, but it was still an epic camp :)
Thank you!
Good for you,the only way to learn your mistakes is to make them, enjoying the watching the journey you are on looking forward to seeing more
That looked like a fun camp, Lilu. Glad the wood stove worked with all the wet wood - it's a great luxury item 🔥🔥

Thanks!!!
Thank you!
Well done Pork looked great.Good wee camp.
Thanks 👍
You are doing really well reminds me of my Marine days on Dartmoor. I allways used a Swedish Trangia meths stove, but we allways find a stove we like. Allways a pleasure to watch your adventures. Stay safe x
Thanks for the tips!
Beautiful locations 😊
They are!
Carry on doing what you do and learning as you go, the point is you enjoy your journey and all that brings along the way. 👍👍👍
Thank you kindly!
Excellent stuff. You are doing fine!
Thank you! Cheers!
I just discovered your channel and enjoying your content. I am an avid hiker in the USA.
Thanks!! And welcome!! 😁
Keep doing what ur doing, ur way!
💪⛺️👌🏻
Thank you! Will do!
U are making the right desisions at the right time, enjoy loads of whole new adventures, go out ur comfort zone, you'll never regret, but you'll always learn. Did u adjust ur pak length to fit ur body length?
Yeh iv tried but I may look at a better fitting bag.. it might just be too long for me being unisex. It feels OK but just heavy lol
Really enjoyed watching your video… One thing I’ve learnt about camping, is there are absolutely no rules and most of it is learnt by trial and error? Hope you do some more videos soon 👍
Yes will do..just back from holiday but lots being planned!!
Don't worry about what the so-called experts think. By the smile on your face, you done very well 👍❤
Thanks!!
I am really enjoying watching your videos. Love the drone footage, and you are very natural in front of the camera.
May I ask what make your red and black trousers are?
Revolution race... thanks!!

Yeh the turned up just after I pitched. Thanks for watching!!
@@AdventuresWithLilu keep up the awesome vids 👍👍👍
