    Just bought this watch , wear it for a day , and my first impressions is as follows:
    1. Very nice and readable dial and big round indexes. Great lume!
    Hands are great too.
    Logo and text above 6 could be better. Red arrow in seconds hand is very nice.
    2. Very nice (and comfortable) crown at 4 that feels robust.
    3. Case beautiful designed and built. Thickness at 13mm (thinner than most dive watches i saw) gives a classy look. Diameter is perfect for a 17 cm wrist.
    4. Bezel perfectly aligned, clicks nice, no return, feels robust.
    5. Movement has been +5 sec in 24hours. Date change immediate ,a little before 12.
    6. Bracelet could be better , but for me is ok, gets the job done.
    Overall, it is a very nice sporty watch, that is easy to wear (not very heavy) and looks away more expensive that it is.
    Very Happy to own it.

      Kamasu or Ray 2 are a great size. I own a Ray 2 and love it. Compared, for example, to a Seiko SKX or SRPD, it looks so much slimmer (to me, it's the bezel design that makes it look slimmer, on the Seikos they are more vertical). The one shown in the video is still too big for my liking - but if you like the 43mm case and 51mm lug to lug go for it - the design is beautiful.

    I have had a blue Triton for over two years. When I saw this new model, I realized Orient was probably discontinuing the Triton/Neptune and picked up a black Triton while I could. I do like the longer minute hand of this new model and that it wears a little thinner, but like having a power reserve and full minute markings on the bezel (not just 15 minutes). My other Orient divers are a blue Ray II, a green Kamasu and a blue Orient Star Diver (RE-AU0302L00B). The Tritons have the best configuration of indices and lume of all my watches. I do not like totally losing an index to a date or day/date window. The combination of round and quadrilateral indices makes for very rapid reading of the time in dark conditions.

    This watch suffers the same problem as the Kamasu - sapphire crystal with no AR coating. I would rather have mineral crystal at a lower price, or sapphire AR at a higher. Index of refraction for mineral crystal is 1.5, and sapphire is 1.76. That means uncoated sapphire has much more glare and dial washout.

    I like the looks. More understated than many. Also, the inhouse calibre is nice.
    But for the money, a pressed clasp with a generic locking mechanism and hollow end links is a downer and takes away from the plus of the head piece. They could also go with better polishing on the case. I guess I'm spoiled with the CW light catcher style cases. Those are amazing.

However the size and value of the Kamasu is better. Also I think you really need to replace the bracelet with a Strapcode miltat one to really enjoy this watch. Hi Teddy, hope you doing fine. I'd love to see this watch in a smaller case, not more than 41mm in diameter an above all with no date function. Who needs it nowdays? And it is spoiling the simetry. I mean, if you dive, you going down and up the same day. If not, who cares? And a tool watch needs to be a tool watch. Let's keep complications for dress watches. Hands-dial contrast, good lume, and a good water resistance are the important things, yet it can be used as a dress watch when simple and balanced. Great video as always...

    This is really just a prettier (subjective I guess) and probably better in a lot of areas SKX inspired. More expensive though. At this price I would have love a ceramic bezel and maybe a bettet clasp.. but hey, this is no microbrand.

    When i hear -15 / + 25 per day I just wonder why they would not lower that margin a bit? I have a ray raven 2 and the watch sits well below that threshold. Nothing special of course in terms of timekeeping, but safely inside. That daily deviation is just sort of…funny ☺️

    Hollow end links and pressed clasps do not bother me; they allow the watch to be sold at a price point that falls nicely into my preferred range. This is the watch for anyone who complains about the Kanno's mineral crystal and the Kamasu's smallish crown.

    • @WolfiPr
      @WolfiPr 3 года назад +3

      The kamasu wears smaller and is the "dressier" diver. Two things I don't like about the kamasu - the bezel has not much grip and the crown is too small and also not grippy enough. Both things are much better on this watch. Because this one uses similar indices to the triton, lume is also better on this one. For me this one is the more practical watch and I don't mind the bigger size. The kamasu on the other hand is less practical, but the more elegant watch and also fits on more wrist sizes, because it is smaller.

    • @crazysheepfilms
      @crazysheepfilms 3 года назад +1

      @@WolfiPr good answer, the Kamasu is more of a desk diver (although you can absolutely take it diving) while this one looks more "tooley". Matter of preference. As a Kamasu owner, I can absolutely recommend it even for smaller wrists.

    So brush the buckle from now on sombitches thanks

    I own Orient Kamasu, and it's a bit smaller in diameter and a bit taller in height than I would like it to be on my 7" wrist (I wear it above the bony protrusions there). I wondered why you are not stating your wrist size regarding the particular watch diameter in each of your videos about a new watch? I appreciate that you always state that particular watch dimensions, but you see: not every viewer knows what your wrist size is when watching that video about that watch. A viewer may be thinking whether this one would look good on his wrist but can't get that knowledge from a video if he doesn't hear there and then about YOUR wrist size.

    So I just realized this is another big watch from Orient. Shame, one of my favorite watches is a cheap 36mm Orient tri-star. I wish they would make more watches under 41mm, its sad to see so many good watches get ruined for some of us by oversizing them (all).

  • @MikeRenzulli

    My understanding is that this model is known as the "Triton" while the watch it is based on is known as the "Neptune." It is a mistake for Orient to go strictly by reference numbers since it will be too complicated for consumers. If possible, you, other watch dealers, and enthusiasts should push back with Orient about this. None the less, I think this watch has a slight edge over the Kamasu having been able to look at and review both.

      Originally watch with power reserve on dial was called Triton and for some people Neptune but Triton was first and most known name. This watch when go out was called mini Triton or mini Neptune. Triton and Neptune are names reserved for higher spec watch, but now people starts use those names for this watch. Stupid but true.
