He has always been great at explaining what he's doing - totally open about his awesome drumming technique.

This is great! "Use it as a compliment to the groove that's happening." Let it be free, fantastic! Thanks Keith! Great way to incorporate hi-hat instead of quarters or 8ths all night!

Keith has got to be the best young drummer going right now! The best video I've seen him shine is a live Steely Dan "Aja" vid on You Tube. Check it out if you haven't seen it. Blew my mind, & left me asking who the heck is this dude w/the sticks? Following his career since.

HH chick as a complement to the groove that's happening. The "chick" integrated into a rock 16th note setting and not have it just be a limb keeping time. It's simple and brilliant things like this that can get you gigs with John Mayer. And the fact that he admits he doesn't know that he's playing a HH hemiola 4:3 in a clinic where most other guys would anylize and explain it just kicks ass.

It's crazy but I almost *don't like when incredibly good drummers talk about things like polyrhythms and paradiddles and break down the "math" (like Keith said) behind what they're doing. For me it's like a magician showing you how he does all of his tricks before he actually does them.
I just love watching, listening and hearing them talk about what inspires them and maybe a LITTLE bit about how they approach they're style and practicing...etc.
It's just a weird me thing.
