keith... gotta be one of the most overlooked cats. love the way this guy talks about the drums and how he plays them too.
Those fills had me legit gasping..... mother of God. I could listen to this over and again.
To study the little details of Steely Dan through the years could take a lifetime. Respect.
No one, I mean no one, solos like Keith Carlock. Just amazing, great grooves and technique.
Man his Grove concepts are just incredible....and i love how he uses his paradidles.
Incredible resume Incredible drummer
What a great man and what great accomplishments!
...and great drummer! ;)
How good is this...? The man is a real Drum clinic all by himself...Beautiful Fills and Beasty Funk Chops! A WOW Drummer!
Don't miss the new Toto album "Toto XIV" with Keith Carlock on it!
The discussion on Sting had me rolling.. Sting pissed everyone off lol.
Tom G I asked him about Sting when I saw him play live in NYC in 2012...Keith was pretty diplomatic about that experience when I asked him, but I think he was trying not to poison my mind about Sting. I've also heard that Sting is hard on his rhythm section.
+holygroove2 Heard the same thing from a sound guy who worked with the Police, and later Sting solo. Said the dude is alright in daily life, but becomes quite the dictator when it comes time to play. Same thing about the rhythm section too.
@@holygroove2 The musical term for Sting is 'wanker' !
the man in all his sweaty glory
one of my favorite drummers!
Keith is amazing!!
I LOVE KEITH CARLOCK GROOVEMAN
insanely talented and just THE COOLEST guy
His touch makes all the difference like most great musos. Technique is secondary but then again his technique is awesome. But the magic is the touch. Pleasant to listen to him just doing straight eights.
Wow!
Nice feel , he also picks nice music to play to . There are great drummers who can't do just that
Good stuff....
What a fantastic career.
Very inspiring Keith! Thanks for opening up about your approach (some drummers keep that a secret) :)
i love it! 2:44...
Great drummer ! Mr.Keith Carlock !and very good groove ! (Didier D'agostino " French cours N.1 " video-youtube)
Scullers! I wish I had seen this show...
One of my all-time favourites... what a player
Way to Go Keith... Hey Blessings and everythin good for you my dear friend okay... I like your playing and your way to play cool... W: Pekka :0 )
A very articulate guy too.
An inspirational drummer indeed
fill at 6:26 sweet jesus
classic gadd fill
Yup - he might even owe Gadd lunch for that:)
Topher Stott
But man.....it was clean as hell.
Sticking??
might be - llrrLRK?
This is great. I am torn have always have been between the desire to see pro jocks like this play a tune exactly like the album versus letting them improvise.
his solos sound like a party
Super burner!!
LOTS OF TONY THERE...
350kph some elvin too
What is the concert venue keith is playing at in this?
Damn, Keith. Some jazz sweat right there! Go with a black shirt dude haha.
Andrew drumming is sweaty work. It's not the flute
dat shuffle
What kind of overhead mic does Keith use?
What is the title of the song starting at 6:00?
I love Carlock's "sloppy arsed" sound :-)
Love the Keith Carlock sticks but the tips don't last very long. I switched to the Peter Erskine sticks, they are working better for me. Sorry Keith!
That's what she said.
What Erskine model? If you're talking about the originals, then I literally can't imagine how the tips on those things could possibly be more durable than the Carlock ones by looking at them.
He nevermore had the sound he had when he used yamaha and Remo
He was at his best when he was just "medium chunky".
Sweatiest drummer (possibly person) alive? Incredible drummer.
Well, he did the record with Toto but I wonder why he would compare them to Steely Dan on the same day. It's not the same thing as Toto rocks way harder and has such a variety of songs. Plus it was the drummer's band from the get-go as Jeff Porcaro started it and was the band dad. Maybe a little afterthought on the comparison between the different acts would be healthy?
+Daniel Lekardal
from what i got, he was referring to the fact that both bands have song where the groove makes the song so he had to penetrate the essence of those groove in a deeper way.
Yeah, might be the case. He got to record with them anyway, quite an achievement in itself.
+Daniel Lekardal
indeed. he archived a lot and he's still pretty young.
Filthy.
He's better than Bob Knuth 😂
