What a great reference video! Does a much more accurate job of capturing how these colors behave than a static image. Comparing the candies over different ground coats was really informative too. Big kudos to your team for putting this together & for breaking out the timestamps as well! I might have to build more guitars just to spray these colors ;)

Sad part is knowing the beautiful powder coat finishes ive done video never captures just how beautiful a color is especially candy metallics. Based on my experience of trying to show my finishes through pic or video I can tell those samples in the sun are magnificent in person.

Excellent video.!! I have a lot of 6000 transparent clear sealer. Can I use that with the candy instead of 4050?
Thank you. 4050 UVLS Gloss Clear is by far the best medium we make to add candy2o with as it holds the dye in a uniform mixture, essential for an even color without build-up or a "splotchy" look. 6000 AutoBorne Transparent Sealer can be mixed with candy2o, but the color mix is not help as uniform and the candy's dye will bleed / leach more compared to 4050 Gloss Clear used as the medium to mix with candy2o.
I'm looking to paint an electric guitar and have a few questions. I like the grabber orange over charcoal metallic.
Is this type of paint a good fit for an electric guitar?
What type of primer works with the metallic basecoat?
What type of clear works with this too? I'm looking for a high gloss finish.
Hi Mark, You also emailed us this inquiry, so this response is in supplement.
Start with AutoBorne Sealer, www.autoborne.com.
For W359 Metallic Charcoal, apply over 6002 Sealer Black, for W306 Wicked Pearl Orange, apply over 6001 Sealer White.
For candy2o, mix with 4050 UVLS Gloss Clear, www.uvlsclears.com.
A standard mix ratio is ~ 4050 Gloss Clear 6:1 candy2o color.

For W306 Pearl Orange, mixing 4050 UVLS Gloss Clear will improve leveling, adhesion and orientation of the pearl.
Mixing 4050 Gloss Clear ~ 20% per volume with W306 Pearl Orange, then thinning as needed with 4011 Reducer will work well.
Top-coat with a solvent-based, 2k gloss urethane clear.

Can 0351 Wicked Metallic Silver be used as a base under the candy colors? The local shops do not have the full range of products so the 4 base metallics are not available. Thank you
Wicked Metallic Silver can be applied over a base of AutoBorne Sealer Black or Grey, and used as a base for candy20. However, 6013 Silver Sealer is much better as it has a higher metallic count and is more reflective, which is why we use it as the standard base silver for candy20. However, any metallic can be used as a base for candy20, each producing a different value (color) of candy. Thank you.

Yes, all Createx paints, including candy2o, are inter-mixable. Thank you.
May be a strange question, but would candy2O colors be fluorescent over an opaque white??? trying for a specific effect on a piece , I'm contemplating in particular poison green, sunset magenta and caribe blue and deep purple.
While technically a fluorescent color is dye, its much different compared with the metal complex dyes used to make candy2o. candy2o, applied over white, is not a fluorescent as light is not emitted after being absorbed by the complex dye, hence no luminescence, as would occur with a fluorescent dye. So if I'm trying to make a candy pink, what combination of base to Candy 2O do you recommend?

Can I spray a automotive 2K clear over the candy2o, as in like a graphics design? I'm going to paint my truck with BC/CC and want to add some candy graphics. Let me know. Thanks.
Not sure Createx will respond to this as the video is over 6 months old. But yes, you can, and should, shoot 2K clear over this. You can spray 2K clear over all of Createx paints. I do it all the time.
We always apply a 2k solvent-based gloss clear as the top-coat over candy2o. Allow candy2o to thoroughly dry, then apply the 2k clear using a slow to medium reducer, not a fast / high-temperature reducer. Thank you. ruclips.net/video/JuroIpJOCNo/видео.html
Iam brand new to all this an i think i ordered 4012 i got a few sets of paint i think i got a 6 or 8 pk of transparent a 6pk of autoborne an some $70set i dont remember but had illustration i believe. Will the 4012 work or do i need the 4011
Only 4011 Reducer is recommended for use with candy2o. Thank you.

Not really sure what you're referring to, however we've many videos showing how easy it is to mix candy2o with Wicked Pearl Flakes, both Hot Rod Sparkle and Cosmic Sparkle, wickedairbrushcolors.com/pearl-flakes. Try an even mix candy2o, Hot Rod Sparkle and 4050 UVLS Gloss Clear, thinning ~ 10% per vol. with 4011 Reducer. Thank you.
How much psi for hvlp gun with a 0.8 nozzle?

Does an actual colour chart exist for this new candy2o chart other then RUclips so I can show customers? I can't find anything on your website.
Actual chip charts for candy2o are not available. Its best to paint actual samples (such as the discs used in this video) for customers. We do have a new catalog coming out soon which shows all the candy2o color reference discs featured in this vides. Thank you.

Yes, candy2o can be applied direct to cured solvent-based base-coat paint after scuffing with 600 - 800 grit sandpaper then cleaning with a solvent-based degreaser before applying candy2o. Thank you.

4664 candy2o Black. For a faded-ghosted effect over a metallic, extend candy2o Black generously. Try a mix of 4050 UVLS Gloss Clear 8:1 candy2o Black. Thank you.

Can you mix these in PlasticDip topcoat (clear)? Which color line can you use with DYC Plastidip?
We’ve never tested candy20 with PlasticDip, but if it’s water-based, it will mix. Test first before any actual paint jobs. Thank you.

I think the gold and blood red candy will look great for painting an Iron Man helmet I just made.
For the Iron Man red, try a candy20 mix of ~ 60% 4650 Blood Red, 30% 4651 Sunset Magenta, 5% 4659 Deep Purple, 5% 4663 Red Oxide. Mix this 4050 UVLS Gloss Clear 6:1 candy20 color-mix. Thanks.

“Best applied over or mixed with a metallic”…. Unless you’re doing wood. Candy over wood grain (for instance on guitars) looks great.
