My grandmother used to watch the TV show. When I heard they were making a movie of it I was expecting them to screw it up, but Denzel did a great job of being somebody that helps out people that are getting taken advantage of.
😁 I used to watch and enjoy the tv show. Your grandmother had good taste but your comment made me start questioning just how old I am 😆
@@markboorman9583 I tell people that while I'm not over the hill I certainly can see the top of it, lol.
@@markboorman9583Saaaaame.
@@stanleydavidlepretre4241 I’m peering over the edge
My mom and I used to watch the show and I thought the movie would be a wreck, even though it was Denzel. Boy, was I wrong! Really enjoyed 1 and 2 - looking forward to #3.
The scene with pushkin at the end, the reason robert is turning the lights on and off continuously is to blind pushkin. His eyes can't adjust to the lights being on and off so he won't be able to see in case he wants to try something
What I love about The Equalizer as a character is that he almost always gives the bad guys one chance to do the right thing.
It's just unfortunate for them that they very rarely take him up on that offer.
Best line...............He didn't come for help. He came for permission.
Robert always gave everyone a chance to live.
When he was talking to him at the table in the restaurant the story he was telling him (about the little boy) was about the villain. Then topped it off with the "What do you see when you look at me" line. Letting him know "Yeah I know about your whole life". Robert McCall is a BAD man.
“He’s the work pops” is exactly who his character is. Doing his best to improve the lives around him. Work pops.
"Clean up on Aisle 4." Best comment on an Equalizer reaction bar none. 😂
I am a retired police officer from Berlin-Germany and I have to say that in this great film there is a meeting of the worst criminals 1. Pimps who exercise maximum violence on women (not only physically but also psychologically) 2. Corrupt "police officers" who are against everyone violated oath, what they did as "police officers" and became exactly the people that we as law enforcement officers are supposed to prosecute within the framework of the law. However, I wouldn't have let her get away with it so easily. Guys like this belong in prison, just returning the money that was extorted from them is by no means enough 3. a Russian psychopath for whom other people's lives are worthless 4. among others
A Denzel Washington in absolute top form but the other actors are also top notch.
Cant stress how much i love when Denzel says " We who" and advances forward right in Nikoli's face in their first meeting..simple yet bad ass
Love big Denzel, one of those actors who has enough presence and charisma that he can lift mediocre films too. It had Taken vibes, but still felt fresh.
Noumlgnphmp
Anoympympymp❤🎉
Robert McCall is ex CIA, formerly part of a wet asset team whom he trained and then led onto assignments and missions. (this was a tv show in the 80s.)
I was a fan prior, but post Philadelphia, I have absolutely been enamoured with this man.
My favorite is Equalizer 2. I saw Equalizer 3 opening weekend. I loved it.
Playing checkers when others playing chess... that's A Larry Bird comment, trust me. Beautiful executed ;)
Great movie and series!! 😎
I worked at a Home Depot for four years and can confirm that its impossible to not day dream a Home Alone defense of your store from bad guys :D 🤘😎🤘
Wait till you see the second one. OMG. Much different but it's still him.
Your reaction was right on man!!
As we say in Texas; y'all be safe.
After watching Equalizer 3, I can conclude: this is a *perfect* trilogy.
Even though The equalizer is a movie it very much feels like an extended episode. I don't mean that in a bad way. Each movie is an episode and it gives the trilogy a an action tv show vibe
Thank you for this reaction. This movie is definitely one of my favorites of all time. It never gets old. I watch it over and over again. I believe this is Denzel's greatest role. He is an excellent father figure, mentor, and complete total bad ass. In this movie and the sequel, he is always several steps ahead of everyone else. Total bad ass all the way.
This movie never gets old haha. Nice reaction.
It’s like shark eyes. Just a killer staring right through you.
Robert McCall is a psychopath aimed in the proper direction. 😂😂😂
Great reaction! I loved Denzel in Flight so much, his performance was amazing!
NGL 😂 you caught me off guard with that "cleanup in aisle four"😂
Another great movie with a young Denzel Washington is Pelican Brief with Julia Roberts and bonus it has Stanley Tucci in it. I don't think anyone has done a reaction video with it and its awesome.
If you loved this you'll love 'Man on Fire'..
When I was cop, we always got our best intelligence at the 7-11. In the dark hours it seems that everybody, including the criminals, passed through there.
Definite yes on the second one.
Awesome review! Thanks Caped! American Gangster is one to review too.
The Magnificent Seven from 2016 is another great Denzel hero movie. Personally, I liked it more than the original (but I seem to be in the minority on that one)
The tattoos on sunny or like a resume. They show where he served in the military, prison, where other government service.
As a child of the 80s, I loved the original tv. But Denzel version of Robwrt McCall is a major upgrade
Enjoyed your reaction. 👍 John Q, Unstoppable & DaJa Vu with Denzel are really good too. Everything with him is good.🙂
My two favorite Denzel Washington movies are ''A Soldier's Story'' (1984) & ''Devil in a Blue Dress'' (1995), and still, never seen anybody reacting on it on RUclips!
Mine too.
The music he played over the PA system before the final fight was a gladys knight and the pips song. 🙂
You will enjoy Two Guns with Mark Walberg Co starring with him and Bill Paxton as antagonist, if you can believe it.
Funny how most reviewers say the understated performance of the villain makes him more scary but you call him forgettable. Americans never get that subtle is better than big.
In the original tv show he was from a secret goverment agency which was code in the 80s for the CIA
Love your videos dude. To answer your question about the guy at the diner.
I was a bartender for years, not the same thing I know but people tell us EVERYTHING.
And I mean everything. You find out so much as a bartender.
it was a lot of fun getting to re-visit this movie from your point of view. great reaction! you should definitely do a react to number 2 and 3 (when 3 comes out for streaming).
Have you covered Fallen or The Bone Collector? Both good ones❤❤
Fallen was the ish!
This is a good movie series. Saw 3 recently & was just as good as the other 2 to me.
Gotta watch "Fallen" bro. Super underrated Denzel flick.
Just saw the third one in the theater.
Holds up
This is my absolute favorite Denzel movie. Brutal and bad ass!😅
He tenderized Little John’s face
At the end, he was Jason and the Russians were the teenage campers.
Denzel nailed this performance!!
you have to see *Man On Fire* it’s perfectly played by Denzel
Classic TV series becoming films or film franchises
and actually being successful is a rarity.
Other than Mission:Impossible, there is The Equalizer.
One individual to even up the odds for the innocent.
Bringing the pain to the bad guys that deserve it.
I loved the classic tv series (1985-1989) with the late Edward Woodward since childhood.
It was revamped into a new original series with Queen Latifah as Robyn McCall/co-producer (since 2021, 3 seasons).
To have this great actor/filmmaker collaboration make something like this is very rare.
Denzel as McCall/co-producer and Antoine Fuqua directing didn't try to copy the show, beat for beat (except for the last shot).
I saw it in the IMAX format and it became Denzel's highest grossing film ever.
Part 2 is a must-watch, even more kick-a** and grossed more than the first.
Man On Fire is a great and very similar Denzel movie.
He went Jason Vorhees on the bad guys at the end. Not once does he use a firearm in this movie, he improvises. Great movie series. Denzel's take on Robert is excellent.
world could need some thousands of Poeple like him , TV-Show was good but the Movies are Awesome
There are thousands out here like him. After all, who do you think the Equalizer was based on? You won't know who they are. You will most likely never meet them. But you do see their handy work around you every day. Props to Mr. Washington. And Caped Informer.
If you like this you MUST check out MAN ON FIRE
*The Tragedy of Mabeth* (2021) was a great movie and Denzel was amazing in it. Also with Frances McDormand, directed by Joel Coen.
Yes, love this movie!
Denzel Washington plays a former CIA operative turned vigilante to help those in need of his assistance.
Based on the 1985-1989 TV series of the same name.
Not Trynna be mean, but Denzel character Robert McCall was an former marine corps and defensive intelligence agency not an CIA operative
8:40 this is a tribute to a scene in Godfather II where a similar movement took place early in that film.
I think I read somewhere about the water hides fact of strangled. Not fully remember.
That was great, loved your reaction to this x
Man On Fire is a step up from this in my opinion but this was great as well
If you liked this ( which was AWESOME) you should see the remake of Death Wish with Bruce Willis
You should check out Ricochet starring Denzel, IceT, and John Lithgow. Awesome 90s movie
Love this film 😍 Love this character
Teddy didn't choke the girl out, he separated her skull from her spine
I wouldn't expect you to watch even a whole episode oh, but you should look up the original TV series The Equalizer from the 80s. It was about an ex CIA agent who helps people deal with problems that the police can't. It doesn't have the badass hand-to-hand fighting or the timer or anything else but essentially Denzel Washington is doing the same thing especially in the sequel it seems more like the TV show.
Just imagine John Wick Robert and Jason Stathems Transporter gut together
The Equalizer movies are Man on Fire, on steroids!
gotta watch Equalizer…. always give actors their due… he needed that secondary actors to create his character… how else could you say he was a good guy if there were not people ( actors) he helped…
yOU ARE A SMART GUY
12:15 was some seriously cool shit
Favorite DW flix? No way! A great rehash of the age old action hero top tier special agent trope, but not very deep, no real twist, no big surprises, just good action. DW has many more great movies that better reveal his depth, his ability to add different dimensions within a character. He does a good job with this and the movie is entertaining, but it's the same John Wick, Taken, Nobody, one dimensional bad ass guy straight through start to finish. "Man on Fire", "Philadelphia", "Crimson Tide", "Remember the Titans", "American Gangster"...and possibly more are better than this one.
Check his top 3
90s movies:
Malcolm X 1992
Devil in blue dress 1995
Hurricane 1999
Sopranos..... let's get crankin
Another terrific role for Denzel is "American Gangster" with Russell Crowe & a terrific supporting cast with everyone from Cuba Gooding Jr. to Norman Reedus to the always wonderful Ruby Dee.
If you haven't already seen it, it would be a great one to react to. Hope you do!
💙💫💙💫💙💫💙💫💙💫💙💫💙
Next one might be arguably better.
I love the Equalizer movies, but Man on Fire is a MUCH better story and better overall movie! If you have not seen it, I think it's one of Denzel's BEST movies.
I don’t understand it myself but I am definitely nonplussed to always see recos to watch Man on Fire! I love Denzel, his body of work is so reliable but for some reason, I don’t cotton to that movie. I don’t know what it is - storyline, pacing, editing?! If we’re talking Denzel action flicks, I really like Equalizer, Safe House (have never seen a reaction to that one) and Inside Man. #unpopularopinion
Home Depot safety-training film, extended edition.
I love the Score from Harry Gregson-Williams. Denzel Washington Performance and Antoine Fuqua is one of the best directors, the DOP Mauro Fiore too.
Can't believe you haven't seen this! Looking forward to your reactions to them all! We ❤ Bob...lol
These guys never learn, you don't give protagonist Denzel an opportunity for revenge its not gonna end well for you
Personally don't think the second one is as good but still worth watching, I thought Eqaulizer 3 as a movie was better than this one though. It's so damn good.
Crazy how many people are finally watching this movie. It kind of got overshadowed by John Wick for a bit cuz both came out same year.
Hey, take a look at Nobody.
The Old Man and the Sea, great novel by John Steinbeck and a great movie (IMHO) with Spencer Tracy.
Please if you can do a review of the Old Man and the Sea.
Ernest Hemmingway, not Steinbeck. Among other stories Steinbeck wrote "East of Eden", "Of Mice and Men" and "Grapes of Wrath" for which he won the Pulitzer.
Safehouse with Ryan Reynolds
My coworker way back recommended this movie.. i only knew of the name cause my mom watched the tv show in the 80’s.. denzel is a total badass in these movies.
only one other character beats out robert's deadpan stare:
Motoko Kusanagi (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, "GitS: SAC")
ruclips.net/video/dhUueNk3w6s/видео.html ( @1:35 ) robert's eyelid/eyelash twitched when the water droplet ran down it, but not with Motoko, ZERO movement of her eye when her sweat water droplet ran down it, grins
(and @1:08 and @3:08, and @3:25 to near the end of vid, for more deadpan stare)
(and also, Motoko had ZERO eye/face/head/body reaction when Saito's bullet grazed her cheek too, @3:16)
He's OCD.
I've seen this movie multiple times and never picked up on the foreshadowing when he talked about the books. Probably why I'd make a lousy movie reactor.
@Caped Informer - if you like vigilante movies, check our Joaquin Phoenix in "You Were Never Really Here" His weapon of choice is a sledge hammer. Good stuff.
Yep, surprised most reactors don't know that this was originally a show on British television, then when the show got transplanted to the US in the 80s they couldn't find an actor to adequately play the main role, so they cast the British actor in the same role for the US version, and now there is a successful movie series. Strange how things sometimes happen.
For more intimidating, skillful Denzel, watch SAFE HOUSE with Ryan Reynolds.
Man on Fire (2004) is my preference over Equalizer for Denzel films of this type. I'm a bit biased from seeing Man on Fire way earlier but I really like the troubled character Denzel plays and his relationship with the person he is out to save is way more developed.
Man on Fire is trash as hell. Equalizer movies are way better 💯
@@thaistomp pathetic take.
Hit Girl all grown up.
Denzel is the 🐐
All my reaction channels been doing this movie lately. What up? 🤔
Hi❤
This movie is badass, but the only thing that makes it weird is when Denzel mispronounces Heckler & Koch.
Denzel is an amazing actor...
Two more you should look into..
💥...The Fallen...1998
💥... The Magnificent Seven...2016
Of course he has so many great roles but these two are vastly different but the same..just as
💥...Man On Fire
Is the same but different from todays reaction...
He always gives a strong portrayal to all his roles..must be in his contract..😄...
Thanks and yes watch them all...
🌿🌿🌿
Don't forget Glory! Denzel was awesome in that.
This is based on a late-80s TV series. A mysterious retired British agent advertises that he can help people who have nowhere else to turn. So in each episode someone answers the ad, he finds out their problem and solves it, usually with some violence involved. In the series he has a younger American sidekick and also brings in experts to help with particular problems. I liked the series, I loved the two Denzel movies (and can't wait to see the third), and I even like the new series with Queen Latifah as McCall (but then, I love anything she does). But with what you see in the news these days, I can't watch any of these vigilante movies or shows with complete enjoyment. Because a lot of these people who shoot up a school or a shopping mall or a place of worship think they are doing the right thing, righting some kind of a wrong.
And I’m still waiting for Sopranos 🙄
