My first wig was bought in a panic. My alopecia areata progressed fast, and I just wanted to hide it and felt pressured to get something. I wish I had known about rooted colors, density, and permatease. The style, length, and size were good. But the hair was sooooooo dense and had quite a bit of permatease. And without a rooted color, the wig looked so fake on me. Now I know better, but it was discouraging at first.
You just made me cry because I feel exactly the same as you did. I can get away with a topper. But I actually didn’t want to leave the house. It wasn’t vanity it was I felt I lost my identity and didn’t look like me at all. You have made me realise my attitude was all wrong and I feel so much better just watching your video. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. ❤
2015 wasn’t my best year. I had chemo and bought my first wig….knowing nothing about wigs. I still have this wig but I realize that it needs to be thinned big time. After I recovered from CA, my hair grew back great. Now, it’s thinning again for unknown reasons. Thanks for your help because I’m going to start using wigs again.
A really informative wig video, Stephanie. I'm so glad now that mine is a synthetic one. And my colour of my wig is perfect. Thanks for all your help, Stephanie! There's so much to learn about wigs, always learning, I guess. Your videos help so much. ❤
✨ What was the first wig you ever bought? Did you love it, or did you have some regrets like I did? Let’s share our stories and tips to help each other out! 💬👇
It was a Belle Tress because it looked so real. It was the wrong color, too big and I pinned it to my head and pulled my bags out. It looked pretty bad. Then I bought Peppermint by Belle Tress and stitch the cap to fit my petite head and got a better color. It was amazing. Now I buy only petite sized in ash blondes, synthetic and heat friendly. I now teach people how to pick and wear their wigs. I learned all of it from RUclips. The boutique knew very little and got me set up with that horrible ill fitting first wig.
My first wig was Winner by Raquel Welch. The color was way too dark for me. I let my daughter talk me into buying that color because she thought it was closest to what I used to have... No it wasn't! She also thought that since I was losing my hair and I had buzzed my head I would feel more comfortable in a crop type hairstyle. I did not. I might try to wear it again just to see if I can adjust to it if not I will be donating it. The tags are still on it and it was only worn when I tried it on and then pulled it off because I said nope immediately. I now feel more comfortable with wigs and love Belle Tress. Because of my age and my skin color I look better in the slightly blonde ashy colors. It was an expensive process but a great learning experience that I can share with others when asked.
Yeah all true❤ I start 10 years ago with extensions, then start worsen my alopecia and start with cheap wigs on amazon or Aliexpress 😊 BUT always i had an artistic eye and modified them to look pretty 😂 now I roaming your site and chiquel , I be sure is canadien without too expensive shipping ...I have as well 2 human remy but brought them from Europe to somebody who do it local , was in my vacation 😂 I think 5000 a wig is excessive high pricy so...😂😂 I love all your videos very éducatives especially for our community ❤️ Merry XMASS 🌲 y'all 🎉❤
Actually it was a synthetic one and I was so lucky that it is still one of the best I ever had. And it was very cheap. I still love that wig and after 5 years it is still great . After I tried human hair and some of them disappointed me . The hair gets frizzy sometimes and I leave in summer weather all day long. I couldn't say until now that I found my perfect wig. I am still looking for it. I have a very small cap and neither a customized one doesn't fit well and needs adjustments
That wig looks totally natural on you. I wish I could find one that would look natural but it's hard. I bought Dolce and Dolce 18" and had to return it because it was too much hair and it kept riding up in the back even though my circumference is 22 and that it was an average cap. I am not having good luck here!
Does Simply Stylin' Pure Silicone Spray have a fragance free option? The smell to me is a bit overwhelming. Is there a way to mitigate the odor strength?
@@andrealwright yes they definitely do! The link I attached in the description of this video is where you can also find the fragrant free version! It’s brand new!
I have a wig with ear tabs with a lace front ear to ear, but the ear tabs stick out. Is there a way to fix that? They won’t lay flat despite all I’ve tried. The rest of the wig fits great and was professionally fitted.
Desperately seeking advice. Loosing my hair due to meds and menopause. Since August Ive lost about 50% overall volume and much of it has gone from around my face. I just wanted to find a simple, and low cost, solution to looking half bald, and Im really struggling, mentally, with this change. I dont have anyone around me who understands. Here in the UK its really not proving easy to buy a wig or even get advice. Locally, there are no high street stores, other than a couple of 'party' supply type places, so im relying on online options. Ive tried a couple of synthetic wigs but they were soooo heavy and hot I couldn't keep them on more than a few mins. Ive been looking at human hair options but having watched this video im now worried to go down that route as I dont have the ebergy and mobility to spend hours gluing and styling. Budget is limited, so the expensive, high end, real hair options are not for me. (I have several health issues I wont bore you with, but both shoulders are impinged so raising my arms up is painful). Im not active, as Im in an electric wheelchair, but i still want the wig to feel secure and comfortable. Im not afraid of bright colours, having had several shades of red, blue and purple on my own hair over the yrs... But my natural colour is dull ash brown, with a lot of grey, and not really one I can colour match.

What brand of hot comb do you use?? Thank you!!
Where do you buy your synthetic wigs?
Do you think that using clothes softeners will help with frizzy hair?

Have you tried a velvet wig grip? It’s pretty foolproof and keep my wig on no matter what.
@@starmanda88 The wig grip I have is the one that Stephanie has. I got it on amazon. It really doesn't hold my wigs down.
@@michellescarborough16 Try " It Stays " adhesive, water based, comes off with water, used in the theater. can be used on the nape too.
I got Upstage, which was beautiful but seemed like WAY too much hair. I thinned it but didn't really know what I was doing so ruined 😥
hi there i bought a wig from temu and i love it makes me feel beautifull but the cap is too big and iam finding it hard to get it to fit any advice

They have a fragrance free version! Order from their website and add fragrance free to the order.

I bought a human hair wig, lace front but you can see the hair weft sections on the top of head and back. How do you hide that?
I have a wig with ear tabs with a lace front ear to ear, but the ear tabs stick out. Is there a way to fix that? They won’t lay flat despite all I’ve tried. The rest of the wig fits great and was professionally fitted.
Cut them off ,, it worked for me.
