Good advice thank you. I would add to caution “new to wig” wearer’s not to jump into “customization” right out of the box. Do not remove tags, do not remove zigzag part, do not even comb, as to preserve original condition to be able to return. This is well known among wig wearer’s however not every new wearer does enough research before jumping into purchasing a wig or two…. Pop it on your head check for color, length and general style/shape. Then make a decision whether you can keep it (and work with it/customize it) or not. I appreciate all the great wig review gals online. But I am always surprised at how few times I’ve heard it mentioned, to analyze and make a decision first, before cutting tags/altering. Thanks for including a lot of good tips in this one. Kind regards 🙂
Hi Steph, thanks for the tips. I have been wearing wigs for a little over 20 years. I have used fabric softener the entire time for my synthetic wigs as a conditioner. However, I can only use the scent-free variety, as fabric softeners can have an extremely heavy scent, that can linger for quite some time on a wig. I hang the wig upside to dry. Then, I spray AllDay Locks Synthetic Wig Spray on it. I also lightly spray this on my synthetic wigs after each time I wear one, especially underneath at the nape and in the front pieces. Its amazing stuff (sold on Amazon). Yes, I too have the Simply Stylin', which I use and like very much -- it's a great product. As to taming permatease on a synthetic: The hot comb does a great job, even on regular synthetics. Of course, it has to be at a low setting and use a very light touch. There are several videos demonstrating this technique. I have been using the TressTech wig wax spray which is fantastic, albeit very expensive, but will try the KeraCare wax stick. This will be good for when I travel. Thanks for that one and for this video.
Steph I want to thank you so much! I have been on this wig journey for the past year and totally enjoying changing up my look at a whim. I don't have a medical reason, fortunately, but I am just loving getting the hair I cannot grow myself. I have short fine hair. Your videos have taught me so much & helped me get those natural looks from a variety of styles & colors.
@@Suesthedancer hiii! ❤️😍 oh my gosh, this is wonderful news!! You’re so very welcome 😊🫶 I’m so glad my videos have been helpful to you and that you’ve found some great wigs that you love!! ❤️
I use a hot comb to maintain my heat friendly synthetic. The best time to use it is after it is washed and before it’s dry. The water protects the fibers.
I have never seen a hot comb here in Australia. Hope I can find somewhere that sells them as I want to try it. Great video Steph, thanks for your help.
Hey, I bought the Andis hot comb based on your link (and reading reviews). What number (0-20) do you set it at for your HF synthetic wigs? TIA. I live your humor and content.
I bought a raquel welch upstage wig from chiquel. 5he wig smelled like moldy mildew, yuck. I decided i had to wash it before i would put it on my head. Unfortunately, when i tried it on it was too short from front hairline to back bottom hairline. Meaning when i put it on it will not cover my front "widow's peak", hairline. I decided to measure the inside of the wig from front to back hairline on the inside. It measures 13.25". My hairline is 14" from front hairline to the bottom back hairline. So if i wore it my front hair sticks out in front. Do you have any suggestions for wig to make it wearable? Would you please measure the inside of your raquel welch upstage wig and post the inside measurement from front hairline to back? I am so upset that i wasted 400 bucks. Help!
Hi Steph I've just seen and subscribed . Re the silicone spray - what was the product called or similar available . I live in the UK . I've just used company product conditioner regulalry to soften my wigs but never have i got them okay so the silicone spray sounds perfection and was something id never heard of . Many thanks :) Christina
Hi Again - I've just googled and there are several products -- Wow, but delivery direct from the USA for the Simply styling product seems to be the only option to get it here in the UK . Just wondered is there anything similar that you would reccomend or is it better to stay with the product shown in the video
I am expecting my first wig heat friendly brooklyn from belle tress, now I am wondering if I have washed this wig can it be put in a hood dryer. so that the inside dries faster. or is this not necessary and does it really dry overnight? or do you have a better tip on how to dry the inside?
@@C5gogo Hello! ❤️🤗 Here is the video of how I wash my wig, which includes the use of fabric softener, and you can really use any kind you have at home! I keep hearing “put some heat on it” my wig is heat friendly but it’s wavy/curled. I don’t want to straighten it. So what am I to do? I’d love more detail. I have Simmer Elite. Chose it after watching your videos
Hi Steph - thank you for all of your videos. I think I have watched all of them at least once. :) I'm hoping I can get your advice on you would handle the following situation? I hear so many women in my FB wiggie groups complaining about the Jon Renau human hair wigs and I have spoken to JR so many times about an issue I had with a piece I ordered from Best Wig Outlet. I returned the item to BWO and they claim they sent it back to JR, but never gave me a QC number. Now they are saying they can't contact the person I gave them previously, and I know they did because when I spoke to JR, she mentioned speaking with them. So either Jon Renau has a quality control issue, or BWO is just deceptive and selling fraudulently because I returned the item to BWO and they are offering me 50% refund for a defective item I no longer have. Which is clearly contradictory. If Jon Renau is telling them I should only get 50% return, why are they asking me for contact information at Jon Renau? I don't know who is at fault. Regardless, I do not trust either of them at this point. Also, I will say that my issue did not show up until after my test wash instructions (which were suggested by Jon Renau and included in the box). However, because you are not buying directly from the manufacturer, the supplier (BTO) is stating that they won't cover it because Jon Reneau says it was washed and heat used on it, which is what Jon Reneau clearly states to do during the test wash within 14 days, and that it's now out of warranty. Any suggestions?
I have a question, What can I do to a new synthetic wig that came in frizzy and ratty? I really dont know how to describe it without sending a pic of it. Do u have an email I could msg u on. I really love the wig style and color and want to save it
I’ve been trying wigs with bangs and all of them have arrived with the bangs stuck down to the forehead, which is very unnatural, do you have a video on how to style synthetic bangs right out of the box?
Spray you're bangs with water get your self a round brush then on low and low heat put the hair dryer on your bangs that you have in your round brush on low heat for five seconds on your bangs take away the dryer do it again for five seconds let your bangs cool for a minute if you have a cool setting on your dryer use that after you have applied the heat I'm a bangs girl and only use regular synthetic this works perfect on bangs just make sure you spray water or you'll synge your hair. Only a couple seconds at a time with the lowest heat setting then you have to let the hair cool completely hope this helps and I hope I'm making sense 😁👍👍😂
