The futurist is now my favorite and blends so well in my skin. Love it too!
I love how in depth this review was! I've used the Double Wear for years but maybe my skin changed a bit (after using some products from my dermatologist) and it's starting to be a little too dry for my taste. I always have to prep the skin a lot and even use some hydrating mist after, but sometimes it still does look dry and it emphasizes my texture! I tried a sample of the Futurist Hydra Rescue and I've loved it but after this review I'm even more convinced I need to finally switch haha the pump and the higher spf are nice upgrades as well!
I feel exactly the same, I thought maybe they had changed the formula but I think it’s just ageing, my skins so dry with DW, I’m excited to try it now! I hope they have my shade, as it’s perfect..
I like the new product best because I do like the dewy look and feel. I'm 77 and just started looking into makeup and this sure has been helpful. I have used Estee Lauder Moisturizer in the past and always loved their products. Thanks so much. Blessings from Canada!
I still love the EL Daywear and Nightwear moisturizers too 😀 They smell divine! It is definitely dewier!
Estee Lauder double wear is my holy grail foundation
I can see why...I've been wearing it more than the Futurist as it's a better color match with my winter skin, but I'll re-assess once I get a little color on my face! I still need to mix the DW though, your really sheer out with sponge on application.
I am lucky that it matches my skin ..I use Sand and I use it lightly when I dont want full coverage ..works like magic...my pictures are wonderful..since I am aging now ..my skin has suddenly turned from oily to dry skin so I mix mousturizer with the foundation for flawless coverage without flakes..
Excellent review! I used ELDW and only ELDW for at least ten years from age 30 something to my mid forties...then it just stopped working as my skin aged. I have fond feelings for EL foundation so may have to give this one a try!
It definitely is more moisturizing! My normal DW color is a shade "darker" than the Futurist, though the Futurist actually is darker on my skin.

It’s given your cheeks a slight illumination, and I know what u mean about how drying double wear is, It’s ok with Aqua brilliance glow primer undeneath. You’ve sold me on this new product, Darn, I wish I’d seen your review before i re purchased another bottle of DW! ❤️
I really love this foundation! We don't have it in Australia yet but I happened to see an instgram post whilst I was in Hawaii so I went to try it at Macys. I love it! I haven't found it oxidizes on my skin but I am pretty pale haha. Its really nice to put on, its not drying ( I have dry skin) I found the coverage really good and buildable. Another winning foundation from Estee Lauder for me!

Late in seeing this but so happy to see your review and that you like this. I was super excited to see this release and jumped to order. I loved the EL Futurist that was discontinued a few years back and have spent these years trying to find one I loved as much. It’s hard to say if this is the same since my skin is older and drier but I do love this new version. Natural looking finish and good coverage that doesn’t dry my skin up! About the same time Lancôme released a new Renergie and I like this one too.

Double Wear is a staple!! I really like it because it's easier to apply with my fingers but still has all day coverage.

I love it, especially as it's getting more sunny in AZ and I am really liking the extra sunscreen, I feel it has more protection than other foundations with spf.
I used Double Wear Ivory Mist for years until Estee Lauder developed Futurist Hydra Rescue foundation in 1N2 which I have used since. People complement my makeup often, thinking me 50!rather than 70!
The Futurist Hydra foundation is literally the first (!!) foundation that i've ever found that matched my skin tone, matched my neck, matched everything. You have no idea how relieving it was to finally find one.

I never even knew for sure that I was a neutral. I have always been given warm yellowish, or pinky, or ashy looking ones. I'm just happily relieve to have found this shade tbh.
Excellent comparison! I love the Futurist Hydra Rescue! I used to use the Double Wear Nude foundation but they discontinued it. Tried this and love everything about it. I only smell the scent while I'm applying it, which I'm thankful for. I'm 61 with excellent skin and I'm combination. I just purchased my 2nd tube!

I was surprised how light coverage it gave me, and it is a thin formula. I’m not in love, but like it especially during spring and summer months for SPF.
Agree, I think it will be perfect in the summer. To me, it just smells like sunscreen...so I'm more in the mindset when its warm...otherwise I want some dreamy spa fragrance, lol.

Thank you so much! I found since that video was filmed, the double wear has ended up still my favorite for just the feeling on my skin. I like foundations that don’t leave my skin tacky, the futurist feels more like a sunscreen.
I am a huge fan of Estee Lauder Double wear and Double Wear Nude. I actually mix them together to get the perfect blend for my skin! I am kind of upset that that the Double wear nude is being discontinued. But I decided to try this out, a test of course, I wore it today at work in a hot factory and it wore fantastically! It did not oxidize, its stayed in place and yet so lightweight! Looked natural and dewy. I fell in love today! Tomorrow I will see what mixing does! Thanks for your review

Definitely, Futurist Hydra Foundation. Looks amazing and dewy finish is so natural. I’m going to see if Myers or David Jones are stockists tomorrow. Thank you for sharing a great video review. FYI, I used to wear Double Wear but my skin is way too dry for this foundation as I’m now a mature 58 😘
If I put a drop of my serum in the foundation or apply on really freshly moisturize skin, DW looks lovely and still lasts all day. But if I just put directly on my skin with no special prep it can look drying.

I'm torn between DW and Hydra Rescue! I like HR for its hydrating properties but it breaks at my laugh lines. Whereas DW doesn't do that. So I'm still playing around between the two. Thank you for your comparison.
I will say six months later, I wear DW with one drop of the night repair serum mixed in and it’s a beautiful finish and wears all day without looking dry. I have to wear HR with a mattifying primer underneath on my skin, and then it wears beautifully.
double wear is the greatest summer foundation of all time!!!!!! In the winter it needs mixed, I mix it with IT CC Cream

Thanks so much for watching!! I think how it wears depends on what you were coming from and how you prep your skin! I was used to a light coverage with no prep, more like tinted moisturizer and then I realized how much better my skin looks when I cover all the dark spots, lol! So it has been taking me a while to find the perfect blend...but now I'm mixing my DW with the adavnce night repair serume and it has taken over my Futurist Rescue as coverage of choice!

I'm oily on the forehead, normal everyplace else. I love the Futurist and the way it looks on my skin, however it just disappears off my nose and chin. Double wear is the only foundation I have found that stays on my face, but it does look very dry.
After a few months of use, I have actually gone back to preferring my double wear. But I put a drop of the night repair serum in it, and it keeps it much deeper on my skin. I have a very nice finish all day instead of it drying out

If you find DW drying but love the weartime, you should look into it (you can always get a sample at Sephora or at the Estee Lauder counter)

Yes, it went on initially better, I think because it had more coverage...but usually it looks dry on my skin unless I use beauty blender...maybe it was the Charlotte Tilbury magic cream on my face before I applied, it stayed nicer.

I thought the side with the Hydra wear looked better on you. It did give you more of a glow and smoothness. I use double wear stay-in-place and I want to try the Hydra rescue because I have more normal to dry skin. I may have to combo both which I do that a lot too. Lol
I am JUST learning to mix and combine products to get the results I like...I don't know why I have such a block on that. I want the perfect shade out of the bottle, instead of mix to get it just right...I am learning to mix with the DW because it is so drying...but the shade is so perfect!!

Thanks Robin! After playing around a few days, I do find the double wear is a little more long wearing, but I haven't tried a primer under the hydra foundation, that may increase wear time.
I used Double Wear in my 40s and then switched to Double Wear Light. I’m annoyed it has been discontinued. We don’t have the Futurist in Australia
If you have a favorite serum, you can mix in with your double wear to make it more "wearable" too. I'm not sure if it's similar to the light, but I can still get all day wear with a mixer in it!

Is much less and not as longwearing with warm weather..
I definitely think you have to work more with DW to find how to make it work...which usually is a deal breaker for me, I don't want to have to work that hard on my foundation, but I haven't found anything else with the coverage and finish when you do find the right formula! Lately I've been mixing with their Night Repair Serum and using damp beauty blender and it has been such a great finish on me, it's not dewy but not dry. I also like the YSL All Hours foundation, it has nice, long lasting coverage without looking as dry. You should ask for a sample next time you go to store that carries brand.

Hi. I just discovered your Chanel and loving thia video. I been using ELDW for about 6 years now. But as I age it seems to get drying after awhile. But I still love it. I been trying different brands but keeps coming back to it. You mentioned you put something in it to make it it look less dry. Can you let me what it is? I am mixing with Charlotte Tilbury's Hollywood Flawless Filter, just a swipe of it and it adds the perfect amount of dewiness. I've also heard of mixing with the EL Night Repair Serum, I'm going to try that tomorrow. I find I reach for DW more because it's a better color match for my winter skin. I think once I spend a weekend outside (soon in AZ, maybe this weekend, lol), I'll get a tad bit more color and the Futurist will be a better match for m.
Double wear with no fragrance & the future hydra rescue has fragrance? Is this correct? You can use your Clinique, for me, moisturizer under double wear & should be less mat looking? Jeanne
Correct, Hydra rescue lists perfume in their ingredient list and Double Wear does not. And yes, use your Clinique, just make sure it well moisturized and it will help it look less matte.

Just habit! Before I put on powder blush and highlight, I powder so it doesn’t grip and give me a dark patch of product. I typically do my entire face in five minutes, so I don’t wait for things to settle, lol.
I notice that the Double Wear side looks dry. The Futurist side looks like you have a nice healthy glow and is thus a dewy finish.
Yes, it does get too “dewy” in humid environments for me, but is great in winter! I now realized it’s the high spf foundations that get too “glowy” sometimes

Yes of course, if you needed more coverage everyday! I like to mix it with a drop of a face serum to make it blend better if it’s looking too heavy.

I have used the double wear for many years and I noticed that after few hours my skin started to look very dry. I would like to use the product that you used in combination with the double wear, may have the name? I’m 72 yo and I need to used a primer as well, which primer would you recommend. Thanks for watching and subscribing. I just mix in a drop or 2 of my face serum in the foundation. Since I use the Estee Lauder night repair, I have been mixing that in the most and it makes the foundation sit so nicely on my skin!! Before I was using my Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Filter, it gave it a glowy finish. As for primer, I just use a moisturizing primer with the double wear, I usually use the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream, but I think any moisturizer would help, you need to put it on just before the foundation so you skin still looks dewy. I think the moisturizer and primer just help it adhere to the skin, instead of sit on top of the skin, which can start looking dry as the hours go by. I hope this helps!

I use Embriolysse or Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream
I tried both on my dry skin. The hydro did wear off after half day. I did not use powder.

I don’t have issues with HA. I always mist my face first and then apply. I usually need a thicker moisturizer at night in the winter, I’m testing a few new ones out right now...my go to was La Mer and I’m trying to find a less expensive option.
@@LisaMonique new moisturizer or ha?..ordinary makes a solid HA but I work for dermatology practice and we refer people to LA Roche Posay alot for moisturizers. I use and love.

Is that a summer foundation
I think Hydra rescue as a summer foundation because it is so high in SPF. It also has that kind of dewy glowy light finish. However if you feel like your face gets too dewy and glowy and sweaty in the summer then you may not like it…

I have about 8 more videos by Lisa lined up to watch now, on myTV... Since I just started for first time in my life getting into E.Lauder, I have found this to be the best source of information on it and finding out about the different present-day foundations.. Lots of people talk about past formulas, but the ones discussed here are the ones presently sold online and in the stores, That's what I appreciate -- the skinny on the shades, do any of the oxidize, are they long- wearing , after 10+ or even 12+hours, and so forth. My NEW FAVE CHANNEL😉😄👍🏼
Thank you Kara! I did find the futurist oxidized just a little on me, not enough that it look like a whole shade darker but it did look a little different than when I first applied. Originally I was mixing Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter. It's a pretty heavy liquid highlighter/primer and it made the DW dewy and moisturizing. Now I've been mixing in the Estee Lauder Night Repair Serum. I like it better because it thins it out but still has all day coverage, without it being dewy as with the Hollywood Filter.

I used DW for years back in the day, but got to the point where I told myself that I couldn't afford it. When I look back at all the $ I have wasted trying to find a new foundation that works for me (that is also easily available & not eventually discontinued) I realize that I need to go back to DW. You are the only person I know of who adds another product to it and that's a great idea! One more question, what primer do you use under the DW? BTW, I am going to binge watch your videos this weekend! 👍
You are so sweet! I use Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream as a moisturizing primer, However, it is rather pricey. Before I switched to CT, are used a moisturizer called Embryolisse, and it works just as well. I think you can buy it on Walmart.com.

What do you mix with your double wear. I'm in Arizona as well.
I was mixing it with Charlotte Tilbury's Hollywood Flawless Filter, it adds a nice dewy finish but dries down a little more than the Futurist...but LATELY, I've been mixing in a drop of EL's Advance Night Repair and I am LOVING the look, a sheer semi-matte finish with buildable coverage.
@@LisaMonique thank you so much. I will try that because I do need to keep that porcelain look that the double wear gives. I have a very dark mark on the left side of my face this is the only foundation that has covered it fully. Once again thank you for the content and the reply.

Did the futurist oxidize?
It did on my skin. I heard other people had no issues. I have medium to dry skin so I thought that was interesting because I thought oxidation would occur more on oilier skin skin
How old is Lisa? I’m 50, and that comes with it’s own skin characteristics.
Hey Ms Kathleen! I am 53, and know all about the issues with mature skin! I just spent an hour testing new foundations on my face to just find a formulation that doesn’t give me lizard skin!!! And then I went to my car and am not sure it sits the best on my pores and lines....it is a struggle!!

I rarely get to Ulta these days, Which is strange because I used to shop there all the time for hair products. But I’m not as familiar with what brands they carry! It’s just as close as a Sephora, I should check it out because I do know they have different products
Estée Lauder sell pumps for the double wear.
And they probably work better than the Amazon ones, lol. Sometimes it gets cruddy around pump.

Sunscreen does cause oxidation
Well, there you have it! It did work good at a tennis competition, I think I ended up with a little color on my face after being outdoors for most of the day. The coverage was overall lighter than the DW by the end of day though. I should do a follow up!
@@LisaMonique All my foundations lately have been oxidizing terribly. I have been orange many days. I have been trying out all these new foundations and they all have chemical sunscreens. It has definitely been a journey of late.
I hate fragrance in my skin care. Either it irritates my skin or my nose & my eyes.
I have a lot of friends like that! I usually don't mind, but this one did smell strongly like sunscreen to me.
