After we visited beijing a couple month back we have been absolutely craving some of the authentic Chinese food that we tasted in china. so we asked ourselves the question is London chinatown actually as good mainland china for Chinese cuisine? What we found shocked us!

Authentic stir fries are much harder to find compared to snacks/street food/pastries etc.😂

1, The custard buns are probably one of the dim sum dishes for Cantonese morning tea. If you have dim sum in a restaurant in Guangdong, the price should be around 15 yuan (£1.6), but the quantity is three.
2, The teriaki fish is not strictly Chinese, but Japanese.
3, The rice noodle is also Cantonese. The portion you bought is about 3 yuan (£0.3) in the market in Guangdong.
4, The pancakes are probably different from the ones you eat in Beijing. The similar pancakes in China don't have meat.
5, The takeaway looks like a buffet in Northeast China, but the price and the number of dishes are far different. A buffet in Northeast China usually doesn't cost more than 20 yuan (£2.1) per person, and there are at least 30 different dishes. You can consider going to Northeast China next time you come to China.

😂I haven't been to London, let alone Chinatown. But the food looks pretty sophisticated and maybe tastes a little different from the authentic Chinese restaurants.😅Anyway, I'm glad you love Chinese food so much!

The fried chicken pie and bubble milk tea you see are street snacks originating from Taiwan. They are very popular in Taiwan. You should try them. They are very delicious.

I haven't set foot in Chinatown nor central London for may be five years. I can noticed some changes took place regarding the range of food outlets. That Jian-bin is new to me! But, the buffet take away is never my choice of Chinese food, sorry! Looking forward to your next adventure in China. Thanks for sharing this video.

If you go to an all-you-can-eat restaurant in East Asia , it costs 9 pounds per person , but the dishes are very rich, including steak, French fries, shrimp, sea foods , Chinese foods , soup , sushi, bread, cakes, drinks, and ice cream.
@@BB-yi6qn there are better and cheaper ones outside of London but not as cheap as in China. Don't forget wages are a lot higher in the UK. Minimum wage is £11.44 an hour = 105RMB.

@@antwango There are lots of schools offering these courses. The University of Manchester is one example in the UK. Intensive courses are also known as fast-track courses. Students study Chinese for the entire day, and in some cases, there are meals and accommodation provided so students continue to speak/learn Chinese after hours. It's similar to how you'd be immersed in the language if you moved to China, but with instructors to guide your study. As far as dying from it, I guess there is always the danger of being the man who knew too much :)

Lo noodle supply most of China towns their fresh Ho fun. There 2 dishes to do, Beef Ho Fun. Or the Thai Dish called Pad See Ew. Two dishes very similar. Most the China town in London are Cantonese. These came over in the 60s, like my Grand parents. Also China is a massive country, so each place is different. Just like UK.

As a Chinese lives in the UK,I suggest you can go to Cantonese’s restaurant if you like eat steam bum ,it will more valuable for the food.You also can go to Chinese supermarket,it almost cost same but more food 😂.You also can go to somewhere closer to the China town,it is cheaper and better.

A sweet bun costs 4 pounds in the UK, which is super expensive. In East Asia, a meat bun or sweet bun costs only £0.50. I was shocked

Yes it’s true a pad Thai in my local city from a street food stand is £9 in Thailand it’s £1 - £1.50
The Taiyaki fish you eat actually comes from Japan, and the Dorayaki also comes from Japan, not China.

It’s better to live in East Asia. The food is cheap and delicious, and you can eat enough. You don’t have to worry about going hungry. If I lived in the UK, I might not be able to afford the high prices.

I don't understand, why these Chinese London shopkeepers not replying your "xie xie" vice versa or at least a smile ??? Actually Chinese are known for good trademanship and treat their customers as king. My father used to own business and he treated all his customers with full of respect. Next time no need to waste your energy to "xie xie" them. BTW the price of food you bought around 5times Indonesian price. Indonesian price a little bit cheaper than china. China town is good, however the choices are limited. Plan your next trip to China where you can enjoy the different varieties of foods , climates and cultures at reasonable price.

@@OTWD_yt Xi'an, Harbin, good price, most foods suit white people.
Harbin food is famous for it's big portion.
Beijing, Shenzhen, being cities with lots of migrants, you can find all types of foods. There are always restaurants offering authentic regional foods located near The Provincial Liaison Offices in Beijing (駐京辦) , if you don't mind the PRICE.
If you are looking for exotic foods, go to Yunnan which is famous for it's mushrooms, Chongqing and Chengdu for spicy food and hotpots.
Other places have many good foods to offer too, just take your time and try.

@@OTWD_yt I have only been there once. It’s a beautiful city. I recommend you to go to Xiamen University and Gu Lang Yu. But the cost there is a bit high. If you are on a budget travel, I recommend you to go to the north east of China. It is really affordable. You can easily feed yourself very well with 10 RMB😊
