  • This incredible but sadly falling apart plantation house was built in 1830 but the property dates back to the late 1700s.The history of it is very interesting and I will share some of it in my pinned comment below. This was honestly one of my favorite explores, I can just visualize how beautiful this place would’ve been back in the day and still is now even being in the shape that it’s in.

This incredible old plantation was built in 1830 but the property dates back to the late 1700s.(The original house was burned down by British troops in the American revolution) And then wood left from that house was used to construct the plantation shown in this video. During the civil war times this plantation was a small town consisting of a school and even a post office. The history of it is actually pretty interesting. This was honestly one of my favorite explores, I can just visualize how beautiful this place would’ve been back in the day and still is now even in the shape it is in. Some of the coolest stuff I find is after I manage to reach the 2nd and 3rd floors around 8:30 in.

Urban Exploring With Kappy You did an incredible job filming this home! Bravo! Thank you for being slow enough with the camera. So many beautiful old things to see. The poster bed resembles one in Williamsburg, Va. The top that is pointed is meant to represent a pineapple. A symbol of friendship. Yes it's still a beautiful home today. Your footage may be its last. I'm so appreciative you shared this explore with us, Kappy!

Thank you for sharing this though it breaks my heart. The last person who lived in this house was Dillard Riddick and he was my grandfather’s cousin. I visited there in the 70’s during a family reunion. It was absolutely grand. Dillard took me inside the first floor and I was fascinated. Many of the furnishings were the original ones. Dillard’s mother invited all her great-nieces, which included my mom,to spend a week there. together in the summer. Mom (now 101), has wonderful memories of those times. When Dillard died the house was left vacant. It is so very sad to see what has happened to it.

What an amazing old house. I'd surely love to know what made them leave so much stuff behind--especially all the furniture. I'm assuming either people have come in and trashed the place after it was abandoned or else these people were hoarders.. Why so much trash and papers all over the floor? That's crazy... But this is one of my favorite explores... Such a shame to let such a beautiful home fall to pieces like this. 😓

When I watch these videos I am always interested in the history of the mold houses. If I had inherited the house and I didn't want it (which I doubt very much) I would have taken the furniture rather than let it rot away. But then that's me I guess. This is so sad and disrespectful o the owners and the building which has so much history. I could never leave my parents or grandparents house to rot away.

Thx again for another wonderful tour. Almost in tears. I can never wrap my head around how people can just leave all those treasures! Even if they couldn't afford to live there anymore, there were so many things that could've been sold or donated. Now it's impossible to save anything. Even if no will or descendants, someone could've salvaged things. So sad. :)

I always wonder why almost every abandoned house you URBEXers go into has a thick layer of mixed items just strewn around. Do all pillagers feel that they have to do this? Sheesh!! If I went in to search for valuables, I'd just hit the most likely places and leave the rest of the place as is. And what is the point of breaking things like TVs and china? What is the mindset there? It's sad that so much is lost through deliberate destruction... sigh...

This house is a treasure trove of 19th century furniture! Some of the furniture left to the ravages of time would feel right at home on Antiques Roadshow! I loved the lectern and the child's cart and the old advertising piece on the top floor were definitely quite valuable! This is the best collection of antiques I've seen so far on Kappy's video adventures. It almost makes one consider a life of petty larceny!
The house itself would be easier to see without all the garbage and clutter, but it appears to be remarkably well preserved, in places at least, considering its age. Strange how one portion can be relatively intact and the other completely devastated. How sad that this could happen and nobody seems to care. The history of this once grand house begs to have a book written about it, especially as no one seems to have plans to preserve this treasure of a bygone era.
Seeing these things happen to such wonderful houses makes me look around at my own humble dwelling and wonder if this will be its fate.
Thanks again, Kappy, for saving these visual records for posterity.

I really like the clapboard siding and it still seems to be in good condition, at least under the porches. I like the whole house in general, very unfortunate that it has been allowed to fall into such a state of decay. Thank you for your time in presenting this. Truly a loss of history;once they are gone, they are gone. So many people would love to save a house like this, but often I think old places like this get tied up legal hurdles. There is always disagreement in how to dispose of the property, and so it just sits.

This house should have never been abandoned. Too much important history to pass down to the next generation. A historical museum would have been nice with reenactments of special historical moments. It's nice when history is kept alive and treasured!!

oh wauw incredible mansion, must have been so nice in the days. It definitely have been abandoned for decades. By the look of television and the coin saying 1964 is around the time it was left, what a shame.

Is it sad what people do to these old houses. They live here, move out, then others come and junk it up like it is now. A shame.
