This place is a national treasure! Everything in here needs to be catalogued and saved. The house itself! Just got my heart racing. It truly needs to be restored. Thank you for sharing this. I hope there is some sort of historical preservation society that you can contact about this.
I totally agree it needs to be taking pictures of just as is first and then carefully those antiques need to be restored I mean that whole thing could be in a museum
Hey #Dave, I'm revisiting this one. It's amazing how the thatched roofs hold up to the test of time over any other roofs over there. I'm comparing them to the roofs here in the states. Codes out the arss here! This is such a beautiful home. I hope it gets saved! The Roman numeral is 4= IV 💜🫶🏻💜🙏🏻💜🫶🏻💜 ❤️🇺🇲💙
I had to smile at the jar with the 'golly' on the label! Quite simply, Robertson's Jam etc. had the catch-phrase, 'Golly, it's good!'..hence the logo..!!😊 (not offensive in the day.👍)
Beautiful, the house needs to be protected from vandals. I could spend hours there, enjoying every moment. Dave, the IV, is the number 4. Thanks again for each of your adventures you share with us.
Those roman numerals are Carpenters’ marks which were created with a race knife and used as tags to distinguish various elements of a timber frame and how the entire ensemble should be pieced together. These marks are formed using a straight line often gouged with the u-shaped, or scooped, end of the race knife. Roman numerals were commonly used to mark up the timber elements of a timber framed building. Great explore as ever guys!
Realistic was a brand of electronics made exclusively for Radio Shack. The device you were looking at was their model DX-200 shortwave radio transmitter/receiver. The previous occupant was a shortwave radio aficionado. The boxes of electronics materials included several cartons of old radio tubes. He enjoyed building and repairing radios. The testament of his naval service means he was probably in the Naval Signal Corps, responsible for communications with other ships.
What a lovely little house, cluttered but I bet he knew where everything was. In the navy and looks like he was a ham operator, loved his old communications, which could be all over the world. Bet he had some stories to tell. Love that it's untouched, you could spend hours going through everything though, interesting guy. Thank you for sharing, amazing place.
Absolutely beautiful ..love how your so respectful..when I first saw this video I thought it was the house of Thee sir Tom ..lovely place I'd love to do your job I really love old abandoned places ..Thankyou guys wonderful video ❤❤❤
truly the kind of home that draws you in. once there you can't seem to pull yourself away. there seems to be no exterior damage or repairs, cracks, patching for a house of this advanced age, good as the day it was completed. it makes you wonder who the first occupant was. I realize you had precious little time to film and try to fit what you could into the content. I was thinking to myself wait, go back a second I want to see that again !! I think I saw a pocket door but I am not sure. with the absence of cobwebs grabbing you and hitting you in the face I think it may be looked after once in a while ?? I can imagine the owner standing behind you wanting to explain what all the equipment was used for saying wait, don't go I have so much to tell you !! excellent and extraordinary find... well done 🤩🤗
I love old thatched cottages. One of my family lived in a thatched cottage, built 1600's, if memory serves me right. They had a big garden, farm buildings next door. I looked it up on google maps and was sad to see all the farm buildings and garden gone and several new homes are built basically on the cottages front garden. An amazing find, you appeared rushed not really knowing what to show. Thank you for contacting the necessary people to get the cottage secured!
Those false teeth in the bathroom - 5:05 - reminded me of my Dad. Unfortunately, Mum and I had to put him in a nursing home in - as it turned out to be - his last few months. Before he passed, I took the care nurses to one side and - out of the ear shot of my Mum - I asked them to be sure his teeth went with him, when he passed, and he was removed to the funeral home. I didn't want the obvious upset they may have caused had my Mum come across them while we were clearing out his personal belongings, after he did pass.
Such a beautiful home. Love that's its not hurt or destroyed by qnyone! A home that should be saved. Thank you for taking the time to show us how gorgeous this home is.
Such a beautiful old home with lots of wonderful old treasures. I love how you & Mark are so respectful of these old homes. It's always wonderful listening to your narrations as you move through the homes. Also i heard a voice around 16:17-16:18...did anyone else hear it? Was at the top of the stairs...
So many antiques!! The bedroom furniture looks like it's made out of Rosewood. The old photos above the bed are interesting. The old books are interesting. It's a shame to see these antiques going to ruin. The old clock is stunning. A great old house!!
This house was amazing! It surprises me that so much stuff can fit into these types of houses and to see the owners make the most out of the space they are given. Did you notice the homemade bookshelves made of old cereal boxes? I loved that baby doll and all the old timey photos. I'm like you, it's not about how extravagant the house is but what's left inside. It's a wonder y'all were able to find it with how overgrown it is!!
It’s amazing,it looks cluttered but tidy as well ,I bet he was around when you were in their ,looks as though he’s had an incredible interesting life ,great find Dave lv Ann uk 🇬🇧 xxxx
Wonderful little house! Poppy the duck, resting on the pink bed..all those beautiful old paintings! Love the exposed beams and the gorgeous fireplace..all the old books! I pray this house stays stafe until family comes to claim it!
Pure organized chaos! Lovely old cottage, not a lot of actual trash, just a lot of stuff, but organized so it would be easy to find. And IV is four, lol
Beautiful cottage. It looks like he struggled for quite a while before he left. Still made his bed and the last meal on the table but the chaos took over. Bless him. A quaint thatched, wattle and daub cottage. I'm glad it's being looked after and preserved now.
Adorable little cottage. And what's even nicer it has not been destroyed by anyone. That's really nice to see. Because you don't find them very often without graffiti and everything being torn apart.
22:15 - the 'bent up' spoon. That's the way they still make some baby/toddler spoons. Easier for small hands to grasp, and hang onto ! I LOVE this house and its contents. Real museum quality stuff in there ! NO negative vibes at all, coming through, as I watch it. I think this was a home, filled with love, in its day. :)
The duck is on the bed pillow. Seeing this by video is not like being there like you are seeing things by your own eyes. A video is better then nothing. I enjoy watching your abandoned places with the history that one can think that would be at that time. So grateful that you have so much respect for other people thing even be abandoned and forgotten. I do fine it hard to believe that the place is just falling apart that place be a beautiful cute place to live in and keeping it alive for the owns wanted it to be.
Hi from Australia, I normally only watch Adam Marks and just come along your channel, like Adam your very respectful of there homes. Great video, thank you.
I can hear the passion in your voice and the sighs you give is like a pain that say it's so sad as well. I love that because it's genuine you probably don't even know your Doing it.🥰

Great video! Dave, what I enjoyed most, besides viewing all the artifacts in the home, was your interesting and informative commentary through out the film, besides being a great explorer, you would be a wonderful documentary narrator or news anchor! Not only are you well spoken, you are easy on the eyes!!!!!
I love that Mark looked like a grumpy 5 year old driven around by his parents🤣🤣🤣🤣 always a great video, the footage and the banter between the you and mark make it extra entertaining. I hope you’re both doing well🤗☺️
as I was looking at him I could see my son age 12-13 as grumpy as could be because he didn't want to go do family things anymore (to mature for that stuff) !! oh mom, WHY can't I just stay home !!!
What a great explore , loved this one such interesting things to look at ,loved the antique books, theres something about old books and paintings...and all that communications items should be in a museum, and this beautiful house restored...but not spoilt...thankyou so much for sharing...and letting us take a sneak look into such an interesting guys life...and home...just subscribed
A gorgeous old cottage. So many features you don't see in new builds. Proper good old Gollywog on the Robertson's jam jar. I collect the Golly badges. This world is ridiculous now that a Gollywog could possibly offend someone. Excellent video Dave and Mark.
I hope you recognised the Mona Lisa print on the wall at the top of the stairs. There was also a famous print of a painting by Constable (I think). The red coloured shield and swords that was in one of the rooms was a popular 'ornament' back in the 1980s. My parents had one on their wall. No idea why they were so popular!
Beautiful little character cottage and full of proper last a life time furniture. I watched a program about Sir Tom, God Bless him, his daughter mentioned how he liked to make and mend things. It needs the roof repairing and kept just how it is as a memorial to the great humble gentleman that did so much for his queen and country . I hope his daughter passes it onto the grand kids. I am so glad you and Mark found this treasure and not one of those " so called explorers" and got it secured. You all take care and stay safe x
This house is beautiful. Love the bed frame and all the old furniture. Poppy was on the pillow of the bed up there. Lot of stuff left behind. Great explore and very respectful as well. You have a great day
Another awesome find loved it the older houses are the best 👌 a bit cluttered but still that's what makes it for me poppy the duck eas on the bed upstairs thanks for sharing take care dave and Mark much love 💘 xx
A wonderful find. That little metal door in the kitchen wall may be a bread oven, very often fitted inside next to fireplace in 17/18th century cottages The Philips receiver is an early shortwave radio ham's receiver.
Hi Dave and Mark, what a beautiful house you found.love the baby doll, and all the beautiful beams in the house I just love it.Poppy the duck was having a rest on the bed, with the red cover. All the stuff left behind, some of it could be worth quite a lot.All the books left behind such a shame, some of those books look old.I hope no one else finds it,and ruins it.Please stay safe both of you, really enjoyed this video.xxxx
RED RUBBER DUCKIE ON THE BED!!! Dave, if he served 30yrs, maybe he was a readioman or communication specialist & that's why he has so many radio devices. I'm curious about the beam with IV, which is roman numeral 4. He also had that black post in his kitchen & I wonder if he salvabed them from something else. The roman numerals have been found on ancient ships. I'm a 69yr old lady from South Louisiana, USA & I love how you are so respectful of not only abandoned places, but of the people that lived there & the neighbors. I watch your videos as often as I can. I sent you & Mark the Country Road tee shirts, but unfortunately it's hard financially. God bless you & Mark's family, especially Mark's newest baby. Much love from this cajun lady. 💜💜💜🙋♀️🇺🇸🙏🙏🙏
I saw on a couple other comments that the number on the beam is like sort of a puzzle to put the house/frame together.. So nothing really too special but it is interesting.
I saw cottages with thatched roofs when I visited kilkenny, kerry Ireland. Once all this craziness settles down I am making my way back to Ireland for an extended stay, visit my son, his family, my grandchildren and to meet me 1st great grandchild.
Wow just wow. This place needs to be saved. It's so sad literally seeing someone's life left to deteriorate. Thank you so much for showing us this beautiful place 💜💜💜💜
His disgraceful family don't want dad's old stuff, shallow selfish, despicable people. It's listed for sale. Perhaps when they've given their heads a good shake, they should consider donating his things to museums and the money from the sale to the NHS as they are not willing to share the book proceeds.
Oh I could spend days looking around this house. It's beautiful and so full of antiques and interesting little things. I think that he was some kind of intelligence agent in the 2nd world war because upstairs it looked like he had those radios that they used in the war? A person who was possible very private. I would think that the house could have been built in the 1600 century. Lots of history and lots of vibes. I love watching you two . You so respect every explore you do. Love to you both xxx Gail wales
What a lovely historic place. Roman numeral IV = 4. I was worried about this place but now read it has been rescued. Very good to know. You do a fine and respectful job in your videos. Many thanks from the US.

Interesting. Also roman numerals are easier to carve for small figures: everything under 100 can be notated using straight lines only.
Yes the number was "4"
This is such a cute house love it!

A gorgeous old cottage. So many features you don't see in new builds. Proper good old Gollywog on the Robertson's jam jar. I collect the Golly badges. This world is ridiculous now that a Gollywog could possibly offend someone. Excellent video Dave and Mark.
Soooooooo jealous!!!! What an awesome place!!!
Another great explore. Amazing these places are just left.
They were from Spain, tourists brought them back along with sangria bottles and Spanish dolls.

Another awesome find loved it the older houses are the best 👌 a bit cluttered but still that's what makes it for me poppy the duck eas on the bed upstairs thanks for sharing take care dave and Mark much love 💘 xx
A wonderful find. That little metal door in the kitchen wall may be a bread oven, very often fitted inside next to fireplace in 17/18th century cottages
The Philips receiver is an early shortwave radio ham's receiver.
29:00 ducky on the bed. Looks like the guy was a Ham operator. He probably was a decoder in the navy. Great explore guys?
That Is what I like about your videos you have respect for the people who once lived there love from Miami,😊

I saw cottages with thatched roofs when I visited kilkenny, kerry Ireland.
Once all this craziness settles down I am making my way back to Ireland for an extended stay, visit my son, his family, my grandchildren and to meet me 1st great grandchild.
Beautiful,I. Cannot say more, a shrine to sir Tom and wife, young people, should take notice of this program .thank you guy,s for what you do, good.
great video to watch thank you take care😊😀🙂
Wow just wow. This place needs to be saved. It's so sad literally seeing someone's life left to deteriorate. Thank you so much for showing us this beautiful place 💜💜💜💜
His disgraceful family don't want dad's old stuff, shallow selfish, despicable people. It's listed for sale. Perhaps when they've given their heads a good shake, they should consider donating his things to museums and the money from the sale to the NHS as they are not willing to share the book proceeds.
This person who lived in this home knew exactly where everything was. It is organized kaos but definitely a national treasure xxxx amazing lads❤❤❤❤❤❤
So cozy. I wished someone would save the house & its contents. Thank u for the tour, love from Texas.
Poppy - 10:32 on top of the bed. Lovely old house with gorgeous furniture. Great find.
Mr ducky seems to be happy on the great job guys thank you for letting us follow with you❤️
Definitely loved collecting things. Some of those items like military need to be saved. Probably from WWII. Mr. Duck was taking a nap I see!!
Love, love you guys. Great explore. Looks as though the owners could walk in any moment. You guys rock.
Awesome house! So many cool things in the house. Thanks so much! 💜

What a lovely historic place. Roman numeral IV = 4. I was worried about this place but now read it has been rescued. Very good to know. You do a fine and respectful job in your videos. Many thanks from the US.
