Counter canter can be confusing for both the horse and rider. Add in a horse that knows the flying change, and it becomes even more challenging!
In this video, JJ is riding Benson, who is a schoolmaster that knows all the things. But, his new rider needs to learn from him and so that means Benson can’t just flying change his way through the canter serpentine.
Whether the horse knows the change or not, JJ explains the key concept that the aids are in our position, and the consequences of changes in our position are especially evident in the counter canter.
