Thank you for this. I am overweight with gp. I struggle with several autoimmune diseases, and my meds contribute to my weight. Finding a Dr that believes me is so hard .

    Thank you!
I am over weight with gp. I do not have diabetes. Would an intermittent fasting diet be helpful to bring down my high blood sugar? (8/16) ?.
    Thanks!

Hi crystal! Just wanted to drop by and thank you for these videos. I bought your book, read through so many of your blog posts and can't get enough!! It is hard to deal with a condition that there's hardly an information on. So thank you for posting these! I would love to see more in the future! Especially on sleep and hormonal balance etc!

Thanks for this great video. I wonder if slow digestion itself is not a reason for weight gain. It sounds to make sense that when the body doesn´t digest foods quickly, it store the energy instead. My feeling...

Pinched, compressed, damaged, or inflammed vagus nerve in neck and shoulders can impact nerve signaling to the stomach and rest of GI tract. An MRI can confirm this and solid chiropractic work can improve neural firing and overall function. Improving vagal tone by restoring and healing the body’s energy pathways (e.g. nerve signaling and inflammation of muscle fascia) via chiropractic work, acupuncture, cupping, and neurofeedback can all help get to the root of the problem. Massive answers come from looking at the vagus nerve and to make sure it is at or near homeostatic function. Cheers

How much longer can I go on like this before my body just gives out. Im soo fatigued every day and dizzy. Any feedback would be great... Thank you....

I have similar with an added bowel obstruction component. I take Simethecone 180 3x a day (over the counter) and don’t drink anything fizzy at all. (Stir the bubbles out) and keep off sugar and things that cause gas. This has helped tremendously. I have the nausea too but I have Zofran on hand for that. My nausea kicks up when the bowel gets obstructed. I have also found great success with juicing and triple straining before drinking to stay as close to zero fiber as possible. Might not work for you but I have changed things little by little and gotten great success.

I’m at my wits end. After telling doctors and being sick and gaining weight like mad while I was on various strict diets-paleo, vegan- I kept gaining. This was a 10 year ordeal. . Finally I was heard. I was a swollen mess. I was diagnosed and immediately weight started falling off. I needed it to. I went from 240 to 182. Felt great. Then stayed there. Tried dairy. Started having trouble. Lactose intolerant. Then cut that. Still blown up and couldn’t empty stomach ever. Symptoms coming back. I’ve always only had one small meal and one decent snack. Period. Finally cut gluten, added bone broth, cut grains. Thinking leaky gut. Now? Inching up. I was st 187 for months. Then 190. Now I wake up bloated to 196. I’m scared. I’m hypothyroid and have been on meds for 5 years. My diabetes vanished once I was diagnosed and the weight went off. I’m exercising. If I drink lots of water I bloat more. I eat smooth organic homemade soups 90% of the time. Tofu. Eggs. That’s about it. My fats are coconut oil and olive oil and peanut butter. I added collagen powder with almond milk. I’m in a bit of a panic. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing. Beautifully done. I was diagnosed with GP about 2 years ago. Now
I have to have the stomach emptying test I am at the beginning stages of it, but it is getting worse. I also have Autoimmune Atrophic Gastriris among other digestive disorders. What was the worst (most painful) part in all this for you? Just want to know what I am in for more or less. Many Thanks. Hang in there.

Just came across this video. What about weight watchers as an option? I’m also 54 and menopausal. I’ve gained 30lbs since diagnosis 2 years ago. My weight was better before I started the diet.

Thank you so much for sharing the information. I am one those people that gain weight. I have been sent to 3 gastroenterologist and getting ready for 3rd motility test because I think that they cannot understand why I have gastroparesis but gain weight. The first 2x I have been tested has shown that I do have slow emptying. I think at least 4 illnesses that I have--diabetes, hypothyroid, neuropathy and lipedema ---and a rare chronic illness of a fat disorder that distributes and causes patches of fat and a lot of water retention.. Please let me know if you have videos relating to these.

Hi, Anthony. I cannot give medical advice but I can offer my thoughts on this. Both diabetes and hypothyroidism can cause gastroparesis, as you likely know, so it doesn't seem out of the ordinary to me that you'd have delayed gastric emptying -- regardless of your weight/weight gain. Is your gastroenterologist treating the gastroparesis as they continue the motility testing? Either way, you might consider getting started on a comprehensive management plan (you can find the details here, as well as a free worksheet: livingwithgastroparesis.com/how-balanced-is-your-management-plan-worksheet-resources/). This will likely help you to reduce your gastroparesis symptoms and it will also support your overall health and wellness. I don't currently have any videos related to the conditions you mentioned, but if I do in the future, I will come back and link here. Sending good wishes!

Hi, Maria. Sorry for not seeing this question sooner and I'm really sorry that your healthcare provider isn't explaining things to you and helping you to understand what you're dealing with. Of course, I cannot comment on your particular situation and I'm not a doctor, but to be very clear, no, gastroparesis IS NOT cancer. It is a functional disorder (a problem with the way the stomach is functioning -- i.e. it's not emptying as quickly as it should). A gastroparesis diagnosis has nothing to do with any kind of growth or tumor or anything of that sort. I'm not sure what you're finding online but gastroparesis, though life altering and often overwhelming, especially at first, is typically manageable with a combo of medical care (what that entails will vary from case to case) and self-care measures (changes to diet, exercise, etc). I hope this helps to ease your mind!

I'm trying to gain weight with gastroparesis but this seems impossible. I'm 22 and I want to gain weight for sports but I have gastroparesis. I would need to consume 3000 calories a day to reach my desired weight lol. I've found that my stomach only tolerates about 400 calories every few hours so I guess I'm screwed. I also have to stop eating 4 hours before bed or else I'll wake up with severe bloating. So really I only gave a 12hr window to eat.

In regards to TSH levels... I've been taking a thyroid medication for a number of years and it's staying steady at 0.50. I was diagnosed with gastroparesis last fall and prediabetes last month. Should we try to get my tsh levels higher by increasing my dose?

I can not eat small meals, I eat very big meals to push food out, it at least changes over so it doesn’t rot inside me. The laxatives I used is often. I rather keep diarrhea over constipation anytime.

I need help! Not sure why this would be, but im basically staying at the same weight. Initially, I lost about 70lbs, but for the past 8 mnths, nothing. Dont get me wrong, I really dont wanna lose any more, but why arent I? I cannot eat solids at all. I drink around 1000-1200 cal a day which is usually in the evening. Cannot do baby food or ensure. All my cal come from the new int. coffee iced coffee which im sure is not ideal. Somtimes I mix with peanutbutter in blender with ice. I need help!

princessaz79 I am not hungry either but I still eat at least every 3 hrs. it helps me to not have so many symptoms
We always feel full due to our digestion being not normal. It will make a lot of people feel worse if they eat one big meal. Smaller meals are better.

I don't know but I will say that I have come to believe that our bodies are much smarter than we often give them credit for -- if your body is accumulating weight, there might be a protective reason for that. I would continue to work with your doctors/nutritionist to be sure you're getting adequate calories/nourishment on your feeds.
