You're right, the vocal group has been around a long time. One form, barbershop style, restricts the chord structure to simpler, more traditional chords. It is almost a cultural scope limit. They don't allow major 7th chords and other "modern sounding" and regular 7th chords are emphasized. Modern day a capella groups, such as Pentatonix, Home Free and Voice Play have a very flexible style, using modern, traditional and even ancient chord structures as well as other physical sound effects like clapping and more. They pretty much need a minimum of 5 members to get to nice full 7th chords and have some percussion/effects. Less members means limiting chords and simulated instrumentation, so the arrangements get simpler. Having more members, such as Voctave (11) and Straight No Chaser (??) lets them do much more complex arrangements and chords. They can do 9th and 11th chords, which helps in covering jazz songs. They can do very long sustained notes by having 2 singers share the note. Singers can rarely go longer than 15 seconds on a loud note, so long notes can be very dramatic. They can do more counter melodies and other complex tricks. They can also have multiple beatboxers to make more complex rhythms. Just try covering many latin american songs without 3 layers of percussion. Pentatonix does use an instrument now and then, so try out Havana, Shallow and Say Somthing. Then for even more, they bring in a guest artist : Radioactive, Papaoutai and Over The River.
So much to tell you! The trio ( Scott, Kirstin and Mitch ) grew up together in Texas. They went to the same highschool and took classes like musical theatre together, all grew up singing. Scott wanted to enter the Sing Off, but they needed 5 people, not just the three of them, so they heard about Avi thru their (now) arranger Ben Brahm and found Kevin doing his beatboxing while playing cello online, and got them to join the competition with them. They won and got a contract with Sony...who pulled out a month later. The group persevered by doing songs on a couch and posting them on their RUclips channel. Eventually they were picked up by a branch of Sony and have spent the last ten years working their magic. Not all of their songs are covers. They have done some originals: Love Again, Run To You, Be My Eyes, Cracked, Water, Can't Sleep Love, Happy Now, Love Me When I Don't and all of the songs on the album The Lucky Ones. Most of the group have done solos now. Kevin has his own channel (KO) and does amazing solo work, Kistin has co- written several songs, Mitch has songs and an album under the name of Messer, Scott just released his first official solo, Mars ( a really stunning video and song) a week ago. Avi went solo in 2018 after leaving the group because his mother was extremely ill and touring was so draining on him trying to travel back and forth. Matt is the only one of the group who has not done any solo work so far. The group encourages solo work but they are all commited to working together as PTX. Whew!! That was a LOT!! But you asked! 😁
Not true... Matt has done some solo work with his church group and has done Life Is A Highway at Berklee Night LA @ruclips.net/video/YOCxRbT_vjE/видео.html
No, megaphone is just a prop, he does not use it in live performances. And this one they do perform live, too. And, it took them 5 years to perfect the arrangements. How many takes in the studio...? Don't know, don't care - it sounds just the same live... They are legends, freaking legends walking the streets in our lifetime...
Oh, you've only just lifted the lid on Kevin's talent! There is so much more 🙂This group is completely amazing, each of them are insanely talented in their own right, and together, they are an explosion of musical genius. Try the cover of Gold by Kiaara, but please watch or be familiar with the original. Their evolution videos are incredible, evo of music or Michael Jackson. Heck, have a look at their play list, find a song you maybe don't really like and see what they do to upgrade it! Looking forward to more PTX reactions.
There is a video called A Beginner’s Guide to Pentatonix. It gives the backstory to their early days. How they formed, where they are from etc. The downside to watching it is that it also gives snippets to some of their music. I don’t think it ruins any reaction opportunities. It doesn’t give enough of any song for that. I think it is helpful in understanding the group.💕💕
I feel this could detract from future reactions so I would just recommend starting with the Sing Off videos and going from there. Much love and keep on keepin on J.
I just replied to someone asking them if something like this exists, and not 2 seconds later I see your comment with the answer :D You think I should watch it on my own? Or should I like watch it and react to it?
One of my favorite details to have realized from this was that during the "Let Me Go" call and response section, Kevin is on both parts. He beatboxes on one, then sings on the other. 🤯
He's not using a megaphone. That's his voice. The megaphone is a prop. You can watch the live version and see that he doesn't have a megaphone in it but it sounds exactly the same.
What a wonderful reaction! Kevin is a genius, you're not wrong. Scott, Mitch and Kirstie grew up together and sang as a trio, then added Kevin and Avi to audition for the "Sing Off" tv acapella competition which they won. The trio was only 19 at the time, and Kevin and Avi in their early twenties. Theresa's suggestion of "A Beginner's Guide to Pentatonix" is a fun way to catch up on their backstory, since they have been Pentatonix for over ten years.
Kirstie, Scott and Mitch were 25-26 at this time. Avi and Kevin I believe, 27ish. In concert Mitch does it without the megaphone...it's just stunning. Kevin is an alien...pretty sure of that...👽🥁. Mitch, Kirstie and Scott were friends since Middle School in Arlington Texas. They went to college but then at 19 the 3 got back together to appear on the SING OFF. They met Avi through a friend, and Kevin on RUclips doing the music form he created called Cello-boxing(Yes he's also a Cellist) They all got together for the 1st time the day before the show....then destroyed the show, won the recording contract and 1 month later the label (Sony) dropped them. They went to RUclips where they went viral and now 5 BILLION+ views , 3 Grammy awards, and a few hundred songs later they still roll.
Scott, Kirstie, and Mitch met when they were 8 years old and went to high school together. They added Avi and Kevin to compete on the TV show The Sinf Off (which they won).
Loved your reaction. Yiu should react to Daft punk. Do both the track and the live Private Performance so u can see how good they are. They have no mics their just in a room singing. They do a lot of live performance's. So excited to see you do more.
The megaphone is only a prop. He does this live without one. This is a guy who can mimic a dry board ink marker. Wait until you hear Kevin sing. It’s alright to have a favorite as they are all favorite worthy. Mine happens to be Kirstin. Recommend their cover of Imagine.
Immerse yourself in the world of unearthly voice. I recommend making a reaction to one of the best vocalists in the world 1) super unique voice (dramatic contralto with polyphonic overtones); 2) the most complex vocal techniques, a bewitching voice; 3) the incredible fate of a girl found with a broken collarbone at a bus stop and ended up in an orphanage; 4) 70 victories in vocal competitions - a child prodigy; 5) can sing in any musical genre, 6) Diana sings in 6 languages: English, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Arabic; 7) incredible charisma, artistry and living of any song; 8) a range of 4 octaves, which at the age of 19 is far from the limit and will continue to grow; 9) a large army of fans around the world; 10) an independent artist, without producers and labels, only with the support of fans and reactors like you; 11) and now she is also a talented lyricist and composer of her music; 12) more than 13 thousand reactions. some reactions have 3.5 million views. open and bright people are grateful for the fact that they are given the opportunity to expand their horizons. Selfish, narcissistic, petty and greedy people respond in the same way.
I enjoyed your reaction to this amazing Pentatonix video. We love Kevin so no one minds that you loved and appreciated his talent. Kevin has his own RUclips channel. Please react to his performance cover of "Down" to start. Pentatonix has been together 11 years and have hundreds of videos and songs (covers and originals). Kirstin and Mitch met at age 8. Scott and Mitch met at age 10. Kirstin and Scott met in 9th grade English class. All three participated in musical theater in their home town and in many choirs when in high school. Oh, I see that others have already written about how they wanted to compete on The Sing Off and added Kevin and Avi to meet the minimum number of 5 to compete. Fun Fact: They are having a concert at The Hollywood Bowl Thursday night, 9-29-22.
They have done many videos on a couch...about a dozen. Sometimes I think it is their signature. It took 5 years before they finally released the final version. They wanted to pay homage to Queen by doing it the best they could. Kevin is amazing. He is one of the most humble performers I know. Kevin was pre-med at Yale, but had been playing the cello for at least 10 years. He spent some time in China during college and learned how to beatbox while he played the cello. After Kevin returned to Yale, Scott saw a very popular video of Kevin "cello-boxing" while they were looking for a beat boxer to join them in "The Sing Off", and Scott and their arranger, Ben, bought Kevin a plane ticket to L.A. The rest, as they say, is history. I agree with many of the comments about watching "A Beginner's Guide to Pentatonix". There are spoilers, but none of them is very long.
Matt Sallee, the current bass, did indeed go to Berklee. Kevin to Yale, but for med, not music. Three have sung together since puberty. Several of the five have a gift for "other understandings of the workings of the world" -business discipline, social connection and reception, global inclusion, and fashion. Avi Kaplan is equally gifted, and now enjoys his own style and fame as a soloist.
This was actually done along time ago. At that time they were probably in thier early to mid 20's. Except for Avi the bass and Kevin the beat boxer they were a couple of years older. Mitch the lead and Scott the blonde. And Kirstie of course all grew up together and went to school together in Arlington Texas. Avi the bass left the group in 2017 on good terms. Matt soon came on board as the new bass and he is incredilbe also.
I love your reactions. I've been a fan of theirs for quite a long time. I love watching your face as the video goes. I'm sure they have told you below, Kirsten, Mitch and Scott went to school together (high school). They all got together for the tv show The Sing Off...Avi was recommended by a friend, and they found Kevin on youtube by a viral video where he beatboxed and played cello at the same time. I hope you enjoy the journey. They are a wonderful group, and the fans are very kind and loving.
Just found you! And of course, it would be Arab Man reacting to Bohemian Rhapsody... life is wonderfully serendipitous! I love how much you are amazed by the skill and artistry of Pentatonix. Like you, I'm enthralled by the simplicity of their arrangements in creating such complex effects. I've often said, Pentatonix lures you in with their naked voices, lifts you up with their heavenly harmonies, shakes you to the core with the power of their percussion and Wall of Sound, then gently releases you back to yourself, moved and changed and just a bit dazed. They have completely nailed the power of music to move people. And yes, Kevin is a genius. We totally respect your appreciation of his talent. Liked and subbed. Here for more Pentatonix with you.
Thank you! You write so well btw, I don't know if anyone has complimented you about your writing before, but you write from the heart and it cuts through to the reader
No, the megaphone is a prop. Mitch sitting facing sideways in the smoke and backlit while holding up the megaphone is their homage to the similar scene in the quintessential Queen music video of "I Want To Break Free" that MTV actually banned from being aired after advertisers complained of the band members cross-dressing in it. Mitch makes the guitar solo with just his voice; they all do the guitar sounds with their voices.
If you love Kevin's work, I highly recommend checking out his cover of Down. It's on RUclips (Kevin Olusola). It showcases him playing the cello, singing, and beatboxing.
They debated whether or not to record a version for about 5 years. They made very deliberate choices in the arrangement to be sure they were paying proper homage. They spent a good while arranging it.
They had worked on this for months and months before they felt confident enough that they were doing it justice and agreed to record it. They wanted it perfected before they recorded it. I think they accomplished that. I believe the main singers were only about 21 or so when they did this. That would make Kevin and Avi about 23. Mitch, Kirsty, and Scott went to High School together. They met Avi and Kevin shortly before they went on the competition show The Sing Off. The met Kevin off of a RUclips video he had put out.
Loved your reaction! Most of your questions are answered below. What gets me is that even with all their incredible talent and drive it's simply a miracle that Pentatonix survived at all. I'm a Mitch-stan all the way, but I do love me some Kevin. It always hurts a little when reactors to this song don't freak out about the things that Kevin is doing. So thanks for that. Oh, and I'm subbing.
Ok loving the reactions. I recommend you react to thier "Sing Off" performances 1 to 12. It gives you the origin story plus they are all live performances. PLEASE also react to Kevin's "Down" & "Renegade". Much love and keep on keepin on J.
I add to the recommendation of watching the Beginners Guide to Pentatonix & watching their Popspring Concert so you'll both hear them amazingly live plus hear 3 originals & an Evolution performance! You'll lose your shit! Love these reactions friend!
Pentatonix always wanted to do _Bohemian Rhapsody,_ but were afraid that they couldn't do it justice. After 5 years of that they finally decided they were ready, and obviously they were.
The members birth years: Mitch: 1992, Kirstin: 1992, Scott: 1991, Kevin: 1988, Avi: 1989 (left the band in 2017), Matt: 1994 (joined late 2017) The trio (Scott, Mitch and Kirstin) grew up together in Texas. Then when Scott went to CA for college he heard about a tv show called The Sing-Off which was an a capella singing competition on NBC. He wanted to audition but the group had to have at least 5 members, so he called up his highschool friends Kirstin and Mitch. Then through an alumni at his college a capella group: Ben Bram (now PTXs longtime co arranger) he found Avi and they found Kevin on youtube. Scott called Kevin and asked if he wanted to fly out to audition with them and offered to pay his plane ticket there. (as he's said later... the best investment of his life!). They got on the show and ended up winning it - you can find all their performances on youtube. This was in 2011 btw - so they've been a band for 11 years! (and have 3 Grammys and multiple awards to prove it). Matt actually went to Berkeley, Kevin went to Yale (he was pre-med), Avi went to Mt. San Antonio College, Scott went to USC (for one year, then dropped out because of PTX), Kirstin went to Universty of Oklahoma (also for one year just as Scott) and Mitch was supposed to go to Oklahoma as well, but PTX happened. I don't recall what Avi and Matt was studying, but Kirstin was studying musical theater (same as Mitch would have done if PTX hadn't happened) and Scott was studying popular music, I believe.
Avi was an opera/classical voice major at Mt.Sac (which has quite a reputation for its music program and groups), and a composition/arranging minor, which has come in handy when writing and arranging not only his own solo work, but also what he did with PTX (ie co-writing and arranging originals like "Run To You" and "Love Again"). Avi was trained as a basso profundo, and was offered a position with the Los Angeles Opera about the same time he was approached to join PTX for "The Sing Off". In 2014, he co-founded the A Cappella Academy along with Ben Bram and Rob Dietz - an annual 10-day intensive summer music camp for 12 to 18-year-olds from around the world. The results of these 10 days are always amazing. Avi has said repeatedly that ACA is his proudest achievement so far in his life. This example from the 2019 class of what comes out of those 10 short days was written by Avi himself. ruclips.net/video/XZ89BHmRfws/видео.html
Well, now you understand what a great voice Diana Ankudinova has, while supporting some kind of hateful comment under my request, by the way, don't forget Can't Help Falling in Love will stun you even more.
You like Pentatonix. Check out Home Free.1 Man of constant sorrow. 2 not going down till the sun comes up. 3 when a man loves a woman. They are super fantastic.
There was certainly some outboard gear involved, but having seen them live I can tell you it doesn't sound much different...meaning it's the mic when live with no added effect. He holds the mic in a way that busts the headroom giving it the distorted sound.
So Scott, Mitch and Kirstin have known each other and have been friends since they were 10 and they went to the same highschool They wanted to audition for the sing off but they found out that they need 5 members, so they found Kevin through a video of him that had gone viral at the time, and they found Avi through a friend of a friend. You can call them all bestfriends now, Matt(the new base) included as they have been working together for so long. You can also watch a beginners guide to pentatonix, the link is below :ruclips.net/video/lDxIfwfCmQE/видео.html
They just dropped a new song...audio only and l can hear Kevin doing his cello boxing....yes if they do use am instrument it will be shown in the video....the song is called "Prayers for This World".....amazing message lmo..!!!!
I have heard that they do this live...but I have not been able to find a video on it yet. I would love to hear if it changes when they do it live on stage. I know that when they do Halleluiah Live, it is almost exactly the same as the video.
I'd highly suggest Pentatonix with Lindsey Stirling doing Radioactive by Imagine Dragons also! You get to see Kevin beatbox AND play his cello! It's divine!
Since you like beatboxer Kevin, I suggest you check out his KOver of Down by Marian Hill to see more of what he can do (singing, beatboxing, cello, looping, etc all by himself). For more PTX, please do Evolution of Michael Jackson, Daft Punk, and Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Thank you so much for doing another PTX reaction, and taking all of the suggestions about altering it instead of cutting parts out
I have to ask: did you have to speed up the video playback just a little to try to get it past the YT blocks? I don't have perfect pitch or anything approaching it, but I've watched this video many times, and this seemed just a touch faster and the pitches seemed just a touch higher than what I've heard before.
Pentatonix daft punk mix is still probably my favourite of theirs. You should definitely check out Home Free, too. This one always blows me away. ruclips.net/video/-ew_bfFvros/видео.html
1. Mitch isn't using the megaphone - it's turned off. It is a prop and nothing else. 2. It isn't studio work, either. That's Mitch's voice doing the guitar solos, period. Yes, he is *that* talented. Pentatonix doesn't do *anything* that they can't recreate in a live performance. You can watch a live performance of this song here: ruclips.net/video/C1PelJIxHTQ/видео.html
@@ArabManReacts That it is. Mitch's range is 6 octaves plus 1 note, not counting his whistle tones - I didn't even know a range like that was *possible.* Everyone in the group has an actual range that is larger than their nominal range. Scott is a baritone, but when Avi (or Matt, now) is singing a solo, Scott covers the underlying bass part, and he also occasionally sings in the tenor range. Kirstie is a mezzo soprano, a low soprano, almost alto, but I've occasionally heard her go nearly as high as Mitch. Their musical judgment is always spot-on. When they cover a song they always do so with respect for the original artist and the actual meaning of the song, as you can see in _Bohemian Rhapsody,_ which is as much a tribute to Queen as it is Pentatonix singing a song they love. When they covered John Lennon's masterpiece, _Imagine,_ they actually improved on the original, but they did so by making it more of what it already was - if John were still alive to see it, it would make him proud. Frankly, this ability they have to enhance a song by making it more of *itself* is a great deal more rare than their sheer musical talent; it leaves me in awe.
@Arab Man Reacts It's me 😁 I FINALLY FOUND YOU ... AGAIN!! We had arranged plans to watch together but Iost you 😎. Irregardless, you said ".. tasty.." but I warned you Bohemian Rhapsody would be "MIND BLOWING", and gave you the tag to ensure you didn't pick the live version, although that too is great. I waited for you to upload when you said you would, but during that week, that's when I Iost you. Crazy world we live in globally. I thought you might need more time and poof, connection was lost. I'm so ecstatic visiting you now. A bit late, but I'm smiling enough to watch a 2nd time. I see you have other posters that filled you in for most of your questions. I'll give you a few more answers. •Kirstin age 30 born May 16, 1992 •Scott age 31 born September 17, 1991 •Mitch 30 born July 24, 1992 Those are the 3 original members who went to high school in Austin Texas, not far from where I've. •Avi age 33 born April 17, 1989 •Kevin age 34 born October 5, 1988 •Matt age 28 born February 11, 1994 Next question 😁 How long they've being doing this? •The original 3 (that I listed in order above), since High School. •Why didn't Queen have Mitch sing? Freddie Mercury died November 24th 1991. Scott was born in 91 (an infant 👶), Avi in 89 (2 yrs old 🤔), and Kevin in 88 (3 yrs old 🙃) ... but I agree 100% with you if they weren't babies when Freddie passed, and I'm saving the best info till last. Next 😁 •You said you wondered how many 'takes' it took to get it perfect .. well sadly I had hoped to remember exactly how long, but it wasn't 'takes', nor days, it took many MONTHS!! Why? Bc they wanted to do it GREAT to honor Freddie and no less would do. THAT is why, my DEAR ARAB FRIEND, I so badly wanted YOU to watch THIS SONG with me (together) 🥺. But there's more to this video. Many watch it, but miss it, bc it's jammed packed with sights to hear and see. Masterfully done! It opens to the couch with a normal looking room backed by a wall. But once the wall parts, did you realize that is a real street in a neighborhood? That the couch moves backwards on a track, then forward? In the darkness, look further up and you can see homes, a fence and other objects missed. The reason they 'flashed up to the sky' was to reverse the track that the couch runs on, and add large construction type lights to follow the couch back to the 'fake room' where the video began. You can clearly see the white line in the street on the pavement. •Yes, that is all Mitch using the megaphone flawlessly!! If you did see them in concert you'd see Mitch use it live if they played Bohemian Rhapsody. •One poster I read tonight, I'm sure spoke incorrectly saying Avi 'said he'd quit if Kirstin didn't quit. That's definitely incorrect. Sometimes people are more hungry for negativity verses positive and fail to allow people privacy. When the original 3 members began Pentatonix, they were KIDS in high school. They've all grown up since then. •Kirstin gave birth to her daughter on June 28, 2022. •Kevin has 1, and is keeping information private which I admire. I'm sure touring is extremely difficult. Best info for last •Brian May, astrophysicist and guitarist from Queen posted to Pentatonix that Freddie would be proud hearing how they performed Bohemian Rhapsody! •What edge does Pentatonix have that makes them great? The secret is the 3 original members were in theater arts in high school - it's a beautiful PRODUCTION, not just a song. Bravo 👏 •Kevin and his perfect beatboxing!! Honestly, they are all so good doing what noone else can do (Turing music into a full production) that I can't choose a favorite. Now I've listened 3 times with you 😂 but you/we need to check out PTX Robyn cover - Dancing on My Own 😁. I hope you see this .. or else I'll have to chase you down lol ruclips.net/video/dyglnLD2joM/видео.html&feature=share
299+ PTX songs to go. Better get cracking. LOL good luck. next up before Christmas "Daft Punk Medley" next month better start on some of their Christmas songs. So so so many from these "exceptional" singing humans. I actually think they are aliens, but that's my own opinion. :)
You're right, the vocal group has been around a long time. One form, barbershop style, restricts the chord structure to simpler, more traditional chords. It is almost a cultural scope limit. They don't allow major 7th chords and other "modern sounding" and regular 7th chords are emphasized.

Thank you Captain! Pining this comment for knowledge, we can all learn something from it!
Matt is not as good as Avi was doing the bass. It's unfortunate that he said Kirsty had to go or I will.
Also Mitch doesn't use a megaphone live, he does it with his voice alone
So much to tell you! The trio ( Scott, Kirstin and Mitch ) grew up together in Texas. They went to the same highschool and took classes like musical theatre together, all grew up singing. Scott wanted to enter the Sing Off, but they needed 5 people, not just the three of them, so they heard about Avi thru their (now) arranger Ben Brahm and found Kevin doing his beatboxing while playing cello online, and got them to join the competition with them. Matt is the only one of the group who has not done any solo work so far. The group encourages solo work but they are all commited to working together as PTX.
Whew!! That was a LOT!! But you asked! 😁
THANK YOUUUUUUU! I asked you and you delivered! I have so much to discover, is there like a documentary on them or something that I could maybe watch?
@@ArabManReacts, there is such a video :

There is a video called A Beginner’s Guide to Pentatonix. It gives the backstory to their early days. Someone really needs to make an updated one though. I wish I was good at video editing so I could do it myself.
Gotcha! Thanks for the advice, I think that sounds like the way to go.
I would do it as a reaction. Many of us Pentaholics have seen it, but enjoy watching new reactors discover them.💕💕
One of my favorite details to have realized from this was that during the "Let Me Go" call and response section, Kevin is on both parts. He beatboxes on one, then sings on the other. 🤯
"I swear it!!!"

Mind-blowing rendition and performance, isn't it?????
ABSOLUTELY
He's not using a megaphone. That's his voice. The megaphone is a prop. You can watch the live version and see that he doesn't have a megaphone in it but it sounds exactly the same.
they are all about 30 now, and this was in 2017 so they were probably 25 and 26, however Kevin is 2 years older than the rest
Kevin is amazing in everything, but I would recommend 90’s Dance Medley to really see all these transitions that he can do. Subbed for more.
Will do!, added it to the list!
They went to RUclips where they went viral and now
5 BILLION+ views , 3 Grammy awards, and a few hundred songs later they still roll.
Scott, Kirstie, and Mitch met when they were 8 years old and went to high school together. They added Avi and Kevin to compete on the TV show The Sinf Off (which they won).
They have about 300 videos. so many to choose from. Try Amazing Grace, The Prayer, Can't hold us. It's a great journey!!
Recommend their cover of Imagine.
hahahahaha (Unless you're being serioues about him being able to mimi a dry board ink marker, then WTF) Will add it to the list.
@@ArabManReacts Serious. I believe it is in one of his Superfruit videos.
Immerse yourself in the world of unearthly voice.
I recommend making a reaction to one of the best vocalists in the world
1) super unique voice (dramatic contralto with polyphonic overtones);
2) the most complex vocal techniques, a bewitching voice;
3) the incredible fate of a girl found with a broken collarbone at a bus stop and ended up in an orphanage;
4) 70 victories in vocal competitions - a child prodigy;
5) can sing in any musical genre,
6) Diana sings in 6 languages: English, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Arabic;
7) incredible charisma, artistry and living of any song;
8) a range of 4 octaves, which at the age of 19 is far from the limit and will continue to grow;
9) a large army of fans around the world;
10) an independent artist, without producers and labels, only with the support of fans and reactors like you;
11) and now she is also a talented lyricist and composer of her music;
12) more than 13 thousand reactions. some reactions have 3.5 million views.

Such a shame you added this to a PTX reaction.
open and bright people are grateful for the fact that they are given the opportunity to expand their horizons. Selfish, narcissistic, petty and greedy people respond in the same way.
I am sure that once on this channel, under the reaction to other artists, requests for Pentatonix were first made.
OMG that's amazing. Netflix need to put out a docuseries about this. Childhood besties that live out their dream.
Daft Punk from PTX will blow your mind. Kevin’s on fire. A must see!
Will add it to the list!
Thank you!!!
He's not using the megaphone. it's just a prop. The guitar sounds come directly from his voice!
HOWWWWQ!?!?!??!?!!?
So much more Pentatonix to discover. And we will go this way with you! Greetings from Germany.
Mitch can make that sound, if the guitar solo live without the megaphone. It was just for the effect.
Mitch does the guitar solos live without a megaphone. Brian May, Queen’s lead guitarist praised it on social media and provided a link to this video.
Suena lindo ..relajante .
If you love Kevin's work, I highly recommend checking out his cover of Down. It's on RUclips (Kevin Olusola). It showcases him playing the cello, singing, and beatboxing.
Personally, I meditate on this voice. I click on "read in loop" in parameter. And I meditate at least 20 minutes on that unexplained voice...
I ain’t got nuthing fancy to say just. - Fantastic!
Darn, Avi! Then I interrupted, watched the original and saw. 5 years ago. 😊
Thank you!!!!
Ok loving the reactions. I recommend you react to thier "Sing Off" performances 1 to 12. It gives you the origin story plus they are all live performances. PLEASE also react to Kevin's "Down" & "Renegade". Much love and keep on keepin on J.
Thank you! Will add them to the list
The members birth years:
Mitch: 1992, Kirstin: 1992, Scott: 1991, Kevin: 1988, Avi: 1989 (left the band in 2017), Matt: 1994 (joined late 2017)
The trio (Scott, Mitch and Kirstin) grew up together in Texas.
They met on The Sing Off in 2011.
well some of them. Scott, Mitch and Kirstin have been friends since they were about 10
Kevin is very musical. He plays the cello too. Listen to. their version of Shallow. They have a great version of Hallelujah also.
PTX is amazing!!!
Great reaction. Enjoyed that immensely. Yes, PTX are amazing.
Glad you enjoyed
Well, now you understand what a great voice Diana Ankudinova has, while supporting some kind of hateful comment under my request, by the way, don't forget Can't Help Falling in Love will stun you even more.
I absolutely do! It’s coming soon I promise 🙏🏻
New subscriber for more pentatonix reactions. 😍
👍😁
You need to listen to marc Martel do Bohemian Rhapsody. He was the singer in the movie .
That's his name! Yes you're right, he basically did the recordings in the studio and I think they merged them with Ramy Malek's vocals. Right?
You like Pentatonix. Check out Home Free.1 Man of constant sorrow. 2 not going down till the sun comes up. 3 when a man loves a woman. They are super fantastic.
you can find a live performance on stage of this . . plus there's also a 'making of' or 'BTS' of this video too.
There was certainly some outboard gear involved, but having seen them live I can tell you it doesn't sound much different...meaning it's the mic when live with no added effect. He holds the mic in a way that busts the headroom giving it the distorted sound.
Megaphone is just a prop. Mitch doesn't use it in live performances! And just subbed for more PTX!!
Thank you!
So Scott, Mitch and Kirstin have known each other and have been friends since they were 10 and they went to the same highschool
They wanted to audition for the sing off but they found out that they need 5 members, so they found Kevin through a video of him that had gone viral at the time, and they found Avi through a friend of a friend.
Ok...fellow Pentaholics?...let's drive this bad ass dude down the rabbit hole. 😎👍
I have heard that they do this live...but I have not been able to find a video on it yet. I would love to hear if it changes when they do it live on stage. I know that when they do Halleluiah Live, it is almost exactly the same as the video.
You Tube "Pentatonix - "Bohemian Rhapsody" LIVE 8/12/18 " this is with Matt as bass - Brian May's guitar solo starts just before the 3 minute mark
I'd highly suggest Pentatonix with Lindsey Stirling doing Radioactive by Imagine Dragons also! You get to see Kevin beatbox AND play his cello! It's divine!
You should check out Kevins channel KO. He does a incredible rendition of Marion Hills song Down. It will blow your mind.
Added it to the list
Have you reacted to their newest song, they just released called Prayers for this world.
Habibati! Please reply to this comment with your requests, and if you have any feedback, don't hold back and let me have it.
Maybe watch O'gene, three girls from the Netherlands, Brian May actually said 'that is the way to do a cover'.
Thank you so much for doing another PTX reaction, and taking all of the suggestions about altering it instead of cutting parts out
Definitely Daft Punk Medley and for an original - Love Again.
I have to ask: did you have to speed up the video playback just a little to try to get it past the YT blocks? I don't have perfect pitch or anything approaching it, but I've watched this video many times, and this seemed just a touch faster and the pitches seemed just a touch higher than what I've heard before.
My fav is Shallow, the Bradley Cooper Lady Gaga song from 'A Star is Born.' Kevin cello-boxes and Kirsty is amazing.
Check out Kevins cover of "Down" from Marian Hill. He's awsome!
Thanks for suggesting! Will add it to the list
He does it live with a mic
React to Wizard of Ahhhhs Toddrick Hall Featuring Pentatonix or Avi Kaplan's "change on the rise" Thanks !
Mitch can do it live without the megaphone. There are live versions on RUclips.
Reallyyyyyy will need to catch it
Please react to Hark! The Herald Angels Sing- Pentatonix ft Hiba Tawaji!
Please react to their take on Imagine.
Pentatonix daft punk mix is still probably my favourite of theirs. You should definitely check out Home Free, too. This one always blows me away. ruclips.net/video/-ew_bfFvros/видео.html
Please look them up on Wikipedia…you will be DUmbfounded !
I don't want any spoilers. Should I??
Kevin doesn't get enough credit, so go ahead and sing his praises.
Really! What he does is phenomenal though..WHYYYY
Yes, he is, but the ones singing words get more attention. They're all great talents.
I need to dig deep into this, it's freaking AWESOME.
@@ArabManReacts That it is. Mitch's range is 6 octaves plus 1 note, not counting his whistle tones - I didn't even know a range like that was *possible.*
Everyone in the group has an actual range that is larger than their nominal range.
The mega phone was just a prop. It was ONLY his voice. Watch the live version.
@Arab Man Reacts
It's me 😁 I FINALLY FOUND YOU ...
•Kirstin age 30 born May 16, 1992
•Scott age 31 born September 17, 1991
•Mitch 30 born July 24, 1992
Those are the 3 original members who went to high school in Austin Texas, not far from where I've.
•Avi age 33 born April 17, 1989
•Kevin age 34 born October 5, 1988
•Matt age 28 born February 11, 1994
Next question 😁
How long they've being doing this?
•The original 3 (that I listed in order above), since High School.
•Why didn't Queen have Mitch sing? Freddie Mercury died November 24th 1991. Scott was born in 91 (an infant 👶), Avi in 89 (2 yrs old 🤔), and Kevin in 88 (3 yrs old 🙃) ... but I agree 100% with you if they weren't babies when Freddie passed, and I'm saving the best info till last.
Next 😁
•You said you wondered how many 'takes' it took to get it perfect .. well sadly I had hoped to remember exactly how long, but it wasn't 'takes', nor days, it took many MONTHS!!
Best info for last
•Brian May, astrophysicist and guitarist from Queen posted to Pentatonix that Freddie would be proud hearing how they performed Bohemian Rhapsody!
•What edge does Pentatonix have that makes them great? The secret is the 3 original members were in theater arts in high school - it's a beautiful PRODUCTION, not just a song. Bravo 👏
•Kevin and his perfect beatboxing!! Honestly, they are all so good doing what noone else can do (Turing music into a full production) that I can't choose a favorite.
Now I've listened 3 times with you 😂 but you/we need to check out PTX Robyn cover - Dancing on My Own 😁. I hope you see this .. or else I'll have to chase you down lol

Please check out Chris Kläffords Kitchen sessions where he covers a lot of popular songs filmed in kitchens
It's called a cappella.
299+ PTX songs to go. Better get cracking. LOL good luck. next up before Christmas "Daft Punk Medley" next month better start on some of their Christmas songs. So so so many from these "exceptional" singing humans. I actually think they are aliens, but that's my own opinion. :)
Then you have to listen to this song by Forestella, I wonder which one you think is better.
