That was great and very helpful. I had face planted the last time I had to use crutches and have been very apprehensive. Now I’m scheduled for surgery next week and will be practicing these moves. Thank you so very much. 59 year old woman from Massachusetts 😊
This is the Zen of crutch walking - part of unglamorous reality! Thank you Arthur for taking time time and putting your mindful attention on this very useful skill! ❤
This is really great, thank you so much for doing this video! I’ve worked in PT as an exercise physiologist years ago, and you are spot on with your tips! I am having right foot surgery in 10 days and will be completely non weight-bearing for 6-8 weeks, so I’m trying to practice and prepare so I’m good at it post-surgery. I really appreciate your tips, explanations and advice!
Another big thing I found is the level that the handgrips are placed at too. So try changing the level of the handgrips too! Tip: Raising the handgrips a small amount prevents rubbing in the armpits.
I've used crutches plenty of times. Most recent being post op for the knee. It seems harder to crutch with a hinged knee immobilizer on my leg than any other past crutch use experience.
This is very helpful. I'm having foot surgery in two weeks and just got my crutches last night. When I tried them, I almost fell down and was glad I still had two feet to rely on. Very discouraged at that point, but today after watching your video I am beginning to gain a little "skill" and confidence. I have a long way to go but I feel by the time I have surgery I'll be somewhat comfortable with the technique. Thanks again.

Great explanations Arthur. You explain things really well!
I hate crutches so much. This is great. Thanks.

Thank you I appreciate it. I will have to use these soon and I’m really anxious.
I just ordered crutch tips based on your advice.
Thanks! I'm terrible at it and it hurts. I'm exhausted. But I have surgery next week and I'm trying.
It just very tiring
I just got an anklevreplacement. I have the same crutches. They dig into your armpits. They hurt after a while. Thats why I use a knee roller.
This helped me so much! Thank you
Thank you.
What you didn’t mention is if you’re supporting your weight by the armpits or hands.
Thank you for this ♥️
Thanks man
I use a knee roller. Crutches suck.
You should putting weight through your hands…. NOT under your arms You should only be using your hands to support your weight.
I'm 33 and just broke my foot 🫠 very informative thank-you so much
