  • Couple WOT runs in my 1986 trans. Setup is a 2005 5.3 stock bottom end, 317 heads, LS6 cam and valvesprings, LS6 intake manifold, and custom fabbed turbo setup with a turbonetics 76mm ball bearing turebo. Currently running 5 PSI but engine will take 12-14 PSI. Car has a T56 tranny with a textralia clutch as well.

    The car is owned by me. On the baseline dyno, it made 400 rwhp at 5 psi on a VERY conservative street tune with just 14* timing. When bumping it up to 11 psi and tuning it a bit more precise, it put down 563 rwhp as the final number.

    This ones just a plain jane iron block truck 5.3. It's officially called the LM7, and came in silverados and tahoes from 99-07. Same basic engine as an LS4, but with an iron block and a bit less compression I believe.

    Older muscle yes, Irocs however can hang turns with the best of em. My 88 Iroc will take any turn my friend's supercharged SS Cobalt can take. My other friend's Mitsu GSX might handle a tad better but unless youre in a seriously insane hairpin turn its the exact same. 3rd gens and newer can really eat up a track, even before mods

      In this vid at 5 psi, it made 405 rwhp. I ended up turning it up to 11 psi and it made 540 rwhp. Just this summer I swapped out the turbo for a larger one and am currently on 16 psi and making somewhere around 700 rwhp. Car is an animal and still running the good old stock bottom end 5.3!

    • @surf403
      @surf403 7 лет назад +1

      transamman305 Wow, thats amazing youre running 700 horse to the wheels and its the same 5.3 bottom end!! Geez. Can I ask, are you an engineer? The reason I ask is I would love to do a turbo LS motor in my 69 gto, but I dont know how difficult it is? I can do motor work and am fairly mechanical. All the tubing and intercooler and so on just intimidates me! Too bad youre not my neighbor😁

      Might want to beef it up a little bit but if you have the money id just go and throw a 9" in there that way you don't have to worry when the thing actually hooks. I went with a Dana 60 in my 78 bird, would definitely do it again

    • @LOLKINGBABY
      @LOLKINGBABY 8 лет назад +2

      +jeffburgeryo NO, throw out the stock ten bolt, beefing it up won't do anything but waste your money. You have to get another diff, whether it be moser, strange, and if you're up for it a ford, anything but the stock 10 bolt, it'll grenade so fast.

    Here's a turbo car set up the way it should be. No 4-cylinder engine will EVER be able to make the kind of horsepower and torque this turbo 5.3 can, especially on only 5 psi of boost. But there are those who think that Evo's, STI's, SRT-4's and other 4-cylinder turbo cars are God's gift to the auto industry, why I and I'm sure many other people will never know! If you want to make BIG power RELIABLY, I'd go with either a V6 or a V8. There's no replacement for displacement.
