It's going to look great when it's finished - well done

Project managers dislike missing targets 🙂 The cruiser stern looks great. As a new to narrow boating live aboard I have learnt this past month that boats get untidy quickly. My small project of building a hearth for a diesel stove install makes me realise how epic you two are in building from sail-away. I am locking forward to wedging down and following your winter fit out.

Thanks. The term ‘bitten off more than I can chew’ frequently crosses my lips 😂

So 7 weeks in and Knowing what you know now regards time, skill & effort what value/price would you put on having the boat ‘professionally’ painted, and secondly what cost on the loss of the skill you have learnt if you had gone the pro route?
It looks fantastic I’m very envious of you guys.

Thank you. We would definitely recommend a professional paint job (at our age at least). The energy required is immense. I’m pretty good at painting but this is a bigger job than I had anticipated. The finish is ok, but would have preferred a spray finish. Budget and time was not on our side. It was going to be over £7k just for the top half and the boat builder wanted the boat out of the yard but there was no room in the paint shop. Maybe it would have been easier not to use epoxy paint, but I’m comforted by the exceptional properties of it. Looking forward to spring when we can finish it. Should be about 4 weeks effort as we’ve done all the fiddly bits. (That’s been the main absorption of time - all the fiddly bits). It does look good if I ignore some of the mistakes. 🤓
