The shop is simply amazing. I started redoing my shop after seeing your videos and i am adding a lot of details to make it look and function better. I want to thank you for that and for turning me on to Hongdui tools, i have bought most of their line since i started watching your videos last year and i love using them.
I sometimes use the sliding cabinet saw in work and just love how much more convenient it is for breaking down full sheets. At home I have to use my track saw, while not difficult it just adds an extra barrier when mid project. Love the workshop, super clean and stylized.
Awesome shop and amazing channel. You are one of the best creators on RUclips. Thanks for all that you do, I really appreciate your recommendations and value your opinion. 👍🏼
Great looking workshop! I may have to re-think my French cleat wall and change to cabinets like you did- seems much more convenient to grab and use the tools. Thanks!
Lekker My local timber merchant (and undertaker) has just upgraded to a Felder table saw. That’s in Cumberland. I grew up in Esslingen where Festool originated. I’ve got serious workshop envy Great 😅😊🎉
Fantastic dream workshop. Love it. Definitely one of the best if not the best. ❤ Just a question about your laser cutting acrylic etc., what do you do about extracting the poisonous fumes created while cutting?
Great workshop Dennis. Don't we all wish we had the same space and budget to build ourselves a similar workshop. Mine is a double garage and where I work its 12m by 8m. So only slight bigger than yours but with 3 people in
Just tidied my little double bedroom sized workshop and sat down for a brew. 100% certain I'm going to feel a bit less accomplished after watching this 😆😆
Your workshop looks stunning. I wish I could have one too 😂 I just wonder what you build with all these professional machines. I would be super curious to see
Love the shop definitely on of the best “hobbyist wood shops” I have seen. Can’t wait until part 2. Can you link imperial Chinese tools as well as the metric tools? There are a few I would like to pick up in the states?
I love the method of building your work surfaces with Valchromat black MDF over birch plywood. I have searched all over the easter United States since being introduced to your videos and found only once source to purchase that material here. It is sold by an importer at the shipyards in Brooklyn New York, but the cost is outrageous. at over $200 US per 19mm sheet, I can see working with the material in a limited capacity. But the shipping would add more than a $1,000 US for as few as three sheets. I'm gonna have to make a trip to New York with the truck in the near future...
Mike (and Dennis), I also really like the way this tinted MDF looks. When building my daughter a play kitchen, island, sink and playhouse, I found that I could color MDF well with a gel stain. I chose black which ended up nice for those projects. However, when I do the work in my workshop, I am going to use a charcoal gray if available or will see if Home Depot can tint the gel stain for me. Try it, Mike, you'll like it. And the gel stain protects the MDF as well.
Wow, mooi zeg!!
Hi Dennis, what a nice channel you have! I have a question. In your old workshop you had a Oneida cycloon. You have now a Felder RL140. What is your experience and what is beter? To answer in Dutch is also good. I think you’re Dutch but maybe I am wrong. Keep up do good work. Thanks.
Wonderful Shop I love the combination f black and light wood! Could tell me, which MDF you are using regarding durability of the tabletops ? I guess black MDF is not always black MDF?. Maybe you have a producer?
Hello Dennis, I am setting up my workshop over the next 6-12 months moving from a 4m x 4m garage to a 7.5m x 9.5m workshop. I am very interested in the Felder work table. Are you able to post a build video on the modifications to the base and the top please? Best Steve
I plan to do that, but I have to change some things to the current design. Because of the wide overhang, I need a torsion box table top. When I have made those changes, I will make a video of it. But I also have some projects I have to do first. So, I can not promise it is on a short term
Dennis. After following you down the Harvey line of products, I didn't realize I was doing it again when I left visited the Felder booth at International Woodworking Federation show last month. Felder is delivering my new AD9-41 and FAT300 next Wednesday, but the K945S is going to be December. Would you sell a layout of your new shop? My new shop is 30'x50' (914cm x 1524cm), but I'm trying to fit the woodworking portion into an area 30' x approximately 16' (914x487cm). My saw will be coming with the scoring blade, and dado blades. Like you, I'm a solo, hobby woodworker. Being able to fully support and clamp large or small workpieces to the saw and operate it from a SAFE side or distance is my primary reason for the getting the maximum length slider and crosscut table. Let me know and THANK YOU for all the years of videos and tips! Clint
Hi Clint, Wow, what a great choice of machines. I am happy to read I am not the only one going crazy on equipment :-) I think you will love it. In next episode I will show the AD941 and I can not say other then, I fel in love with this machine. There is no reason to justify the costs, as a hobbyist, but how it is constructed is just state of the art. So, I think just like me, you will enjoy it every time you will use it. About the layout of my workshop. If you give me a floorplan of your (New) workshop and how to plan your machines and workbenches, your goals, I am willing to look at it and perhaps I can make some suggestions. If you like that idea, just give me a mail at hookedonwood@hotmail.com All the best, Dennis
Good morning 🌅 Dénis , I hope you are keeping safe and well, great looking work shop, size is everything, my work shop back in the Uk , 8 x 34Mts , I now live in France, and struggle with lack of room , to many tools and machinery, So I am trying to redesign my workshop, Which is my basement and I 6 x 6 meter garage comes workshop, so pity I couldn’t move my machines up into my attic, just too far to go, Great review on designing your workshop. I’m sure it must inspire a lot of people. , from France
Oh that I could aspire to be as organised and have a dream workshop! Never going to happen! I try to fit too much in to a too small shop then have nowhere to work, so it is always in chaos. Just one thing, could you say how many banks you robbed to afford everything and how you didn't get caught.😂
That is a good question. No, it is not that clean and tidy. But it is this clean every time I start a new project. Because I do that, It does not turn into chaos.
Listen, Dennis.... if you need a 61 year old apprentice, just give me a shout! 😂 That is, by far, the nicest workshop I've ever set eyes on! You really have done a lovely job...... Now get on with your wife's job list before you get in real trouble! 😏
Yes, I think Harvey did a good job on their sliders. I think there was room for improvement on the fence that came with it, but they improved it in their current models. But you can not compare a slider as the Harvey slider with these sliders that runs against the sawblade. That makes all the difference. I can remember, that I found it very convenient to support a bigger workpiece, but other then that, the difference is not that great compared to a table saw with a extensive table at the left side.
Awesome video as always. When thinking about space, did you ever consider getting a Felder combo machine? Would that be too disruptive for workflow? Thanks Dennis!
Yes, I did. But two reasons I did not choose for it. First, it would become too expansive, although I know when you buy all these products separately, it will cost more, but you can spread it over time and I already had a thicknisser at that time. Secondly, I could not place it in a way that satisfied me. So, I think, when money allows it, to seperate the machines is mostly better.
@@HookedonWood thanks for the answer. I hope you’ll be able to cover dust collection in the next part. A while ago I asked if you had a product suggestion to test air quality, I’m looking forward to seing that too.
I bought something, but I do not know if I could recommend it. It give me some information, but I can not measure how accurate it is. But it is not that expansive and very practicle. I will show it in the video about dust extraction. Thanks for the suggestion.
Another brilliant video, Dennis, love your channel and everything you do. Your workshop is looking fantastic!! I would love to see more of what you make on the laser .....when you get the time! Look forward to the next episode.
Hello Dennis from Hooked on Wood. For some reason the video is blurry. But I enjoyed seeing your workshop and how you created it :D Also, are you near Welsum?
No, Idea! In The Netherlands, we say a "mantelzorgwoning" and this is what my translate software came up with! But what I mean is a place where my parents, or one of my parents, could live when they would need extra care. This way they are close by so we can give this extra support, but have their own space for some privacy. And even when it is not for me, when I want to sell the house, I will sell it as a mantelzorgwoning.
@@HookedonWood: Google Translate says, in English, it is a "care home". I would further clarify that, by saying, it is a home appropriately designed, for elderly care. (ramps, handrails, stair machines, etc.) 😁🖖✌
😁🖖✌ No offense, friend, but you need to keep your comments shorter, or no one will read them. 😁🖖✌
Het lijkt me prachtig. Groet, Dennis
@@HookedonWoodthe possibilities are endless with a 3D printer - after getting the Bambu X1 Carbon with two AMS units, I’ve clocked way more hours than I have on the Neje 4 Max. Also, it is just so user friendly and arguably one of the only machines to not have to continually tweak it or tinker with it to work correctly every time. Try it for sure.
I can't understand why they have all this professional equipment and yet choose not to build the building themselves. Well, it's someone else's hobby, so I guess I have no right to complain.
There are a lot of reasons to do this. First is the time it would have cost me to do so, second is the knowledge one some parts of the build that I was lacking. Thirth was the time of the year (December) I new that they could place it in one day and then the outside work would have been done. So, it was very convenient to only work dry and without cold on the inside.
Thanks for the view of the outside! The shop, the projects, the videos are all beautiful and well thought out. Can you provide more info on the construction of the shop? Was it custom or a "standard" unit? Thanks - great work!
@@keith3425: Curious about why you ask that. No sarcasm, just curious. I would suspect it is a standard size, because a custom size would, probably, cost, almost, as much as the next standard size and there would be a waiting period. Standard sizes are pre-manufactured and stored. Whereas, a custom requires a lot of extra work, outside the company's catalog. But, of course I'm just talking out my ass, here. 😁🖖✌
Hi Keith, I got it from this company: www.gelderschehoutbouw.nl/ They offer tailer made projects. But of course, when you stay close to standards it becomes more economically. I meter wider, would have cost me too much more, because it would ask for another construction inside. But every build starts with a drawing. So, no stock where you choose one. They make amazing projects and my workshop is on the simple side of what they can do. If you are in the Netherlands, I can highly recommend them. They found them not that expansive and they give very good service.

Was expecting a review of the jointer planer too
Will come next time. Need more time for that one
What would you estimte your investment to be, tools and building?
Drool, Slobber, Gasp, Envy!!!! 😍😜😮👍👍😛 😁🖖✌
the shop is super clean, even too clean... is it really at use...
of course it is. But you can understand that when I take a tour around my shop. I clean it up first.
Would it not be cheaper to buy what you’re making?
No, enjoying life is priceless. And I hope to do this till I am over 80 so it is a perfect investment!
Hello Dennis from Hooked on Wood. For some reason the video is blurry. But I enjoyed seeing your workshop and how you created it :D
Also, are you near Welsum?
Welsum is 100km :-)
Check the resolution in your playback settings, it can make a big difference.

@@HookedonWood I have a friend who lives in Wapenveld. :D
Dennis, You should start selling tickets for a tour of your workshop😂😂. Clearly You have put a great deal of thoughts in designing one.👍👍.
what's an informal care house?
I think it's like an in-laws quarters or something. :D
We call it a Granny annexe in the UK!
@@HookedonWood: Google Translate says, in English, it is a "care home".
I would further clarify that, by saying, it is a home appropriately designed,
for elderly care. (ramps, handrails, stair machines, etc.) 😁🖖✌
wow
No offense, friend, but you need to keep your comments
shorter, or no one will read them. 😁🖖✌
Het lijkt me prachtig. Groet, Dennis
@@bushman4124: No, I did not.
Where is the dust ?
I show you in the next episode:-)
750 kgs is a bit lightweight for a real panel saw.
Are you wanting to invest on 3d printing machine as well in the future? I saw plenty of woodworking Chanel now invest on 3d printing.....🙂
I had think about it, but I did not decided it yet. The software part is what holds me back a little.
I would suspect it is a standard size, because a custom size would, probably,
cost, almost, as much as the next standard size and there would be a waiting
period. Standard sizes are pre-manufactured and stored. Whereas, a custom
requires a lot of extra work, outside the company's catalog. But, of course I'm
just talking out my ass, here. 😁🖖✌
Hi Keith, I got it from this company: www.gelderschehoutbouw.nl/
They offer tailer made projects.
Style over substance. Looks more like a Star Wars set than a functioning workshop.
Not feasible -start here. Not as a living.
