Your videos are the best. I’m gonna paint my 24 ft 241 Liberator again. I’m following your skills. I did it about 12 years ago, still have the boat ,redid all I could now it’s time to paint.great video You’re the Best!
I am at the about to paint my 55 year old yacht, I love the flag blue but glad I am going with white to hide my imperfections at least a little bit, great videos mate, thanks, love your work
Frankie as always you knock this one out of the park it is absolutely gorgeous the level of your work is superior to anybody else I've ever seen keep up the great
love how you go step by step telling us newbies the hows and why's, i'm going extreme jet black gloss on a 42 foot cruiser so already know any and every flaw will show through thanks for making your videos, was no half stepping and the final results was worth it
I picked up my phone to ask the question if you're going to put the traditional gold cove stripe in and you answered the question as i was typing..You know you could paint 500 boats flag blue and I still enjoy watching it the videos Maybe one day you'll surprise us all.. And change up the music..lol But I guess it's become your trademark sound
Hey boss quick question…this may be a dumb one but what next?? Do you give it any cure time to harden before hitting water or let her rip? Painted a tractor last summer that sat in sun a couple of months after i got done and noticed it was the best lasting/hardest paint job I’ve done just curious
How are your shoulder joints feeling these days? Just watching you makes mine ache. That scaffolding definitely helps keep your sanding at body level so you don't have to reach above your head much
These videos are so helpful - thank you for putting them up. I see you are using HVLP, what pressure are you shooting at for primer and top coat? Thank you!
Thanks Bryan! I’m gonna do more videos sooner or later but in the past year and a half I have been to busy to record, wife has been battling the cancer and I’ve just not had the drive. Hard for me to concentrate on making videos right now. Hopefully the videos I have put out are still helping people accomplish their goals 👌👌
Yes Sir, I’m sure that your videos are help people, have been, and will for a while. Definitely have to take care of family, truly hope for the best for you. Hope you don’t mind, sending prayers your way for you and yours. Take care Sir, we’ll see you on the next one.
Enjoy watching a master at his trade. I am currently restoring 31 Bertram an the gunnels and toe rails were in such bad shape I sanded off all gel oat down to raw glass. Need to lay new glass back on to prevent stress cracks from coming back. There are several areas where old rod holders and rigger holders have been patched with epoxy and have been faired around them with epoxy fairing compound. What type of fabric would you use as well as resin and can it be layed over areas that have been faired? Plan is to follow with barrier coat, primer and epoxy paint. Thanks
looks amazing! what PSI do you find works best with awlcraft and the 3M accuspray? I'm trying to get a handle of what settings will work best, doing the research to spray my bertram 25.
Sorry for the knob question. About to paint (after stripping to bare aluminum) my mast and gelcoat topsides. Your videos have shown the way- you are awesome. Question- when you are mixing paint- are you mixing for just each coat? Or are you mixing a large amount and just using through the entire process? Along those lines- are you changing tips and cups/caps each coat? You rock my friend!
I mix one batch to get me through the entire process. I use the same tip and cup for the whole process. Keep mixed up product in shade until ready to use and set gun in shade after each coat 👌
@@boatpaintingrestorationwit3029 you da man! Thanks for answering. You do an amazing job of explaining everything and appreciate the guidance. Looking forward to spraying my boat soon.
Pretty work Sir, again knocking it out of the park. If you don’t mind, question, you mentioned during the primer steps that you didn’t want to burn through the high build, even though you still had the 545 to apply. Is that for sealing purposes?
I'm out in Southern Maryland and looking to paint my 37 sliverton. I want a brilliant white. Is it more expensive for other colors and who did that paint Jin cost on this sail boat?
hi i wanr to complete repaint my 2003 fairline targa 48 to dark gray can you tell me how much paint and primer do i need and what paint you you recomend??
Hi Frankie, I finally painted my boat with Awlcraft 2000 after the job I was very please, perfect gloss a minor run but satisfied, The next morning the gloss on patches disappeared so parts of the boat have flat blue what other patches are glossy. I had fun but now I am stressed. Any ideas?
Hey bud. Sorry you had that experience. There are many reasons why that could happen happened. I’d start out by hitting it with a machine polish or light compound and see if you can bring the gloss back out. Depending on how deep the hazing went, you might need to wetsand and then buff.
@@boatpaintingrestorationwit3029 I have 2 quarts, I am thinking about going over it with 320 and 2 more coats, I believe the pressure was too low, I had it at 20 PSI when the sheet references 30 + PSI. I noticed that it did spatter while spraying it. Do you think that could be it?
@@boatpaintingrestorationwit3029 Here is another theory, I finished painting my last coat right before dark, the temperature dropped to 55 degrees at night, could that have caused an issue?
Hello, I watched your video. Excellent work and knowledge. What state do you work in? Checking in to ask if you would be interested in painting my 45ft boat day cruiser. Please respond as soon as you can. Thank you!
I’d definitely like to help you out. I’m currently recovering from a surgery but you can call Rappahannock yachts (804) 438-5353. And get details and exchange info and maybe we can figure out a game plan from there. You will speak with a lady named (Star or Patsy) look fwd to making your boat pretty!😁👌👌
It is not recommended but people do do it. It’s not as big of a deal if the boat stays on the trailer or boat lift and is only in the water for a day at a time. You do not want to leave the boat in the water for days at a time
There are multiple reasons why it could be textured. Too much paint and not enough air, didn’t sand the primer completely smooth, not enough thinner, too big of a spray cap, etc.
Your a badman with Awlcraft 2000. Have you ever used Alexseal ?? Ive heard great things about being able to do touchups on alexseal and cut and buffing it.

With a doubt, these are the best videos on online regarding professional boat painting practices.
Thank you!
For sure, this guy knows his stuff and explains it well.
Every time I watch any of your videos I immediately want to paint my boat 😄

Hey Frankie, when are you going to show us how to paint the bottom lol.
amazing finshed! But what is good for tocoat polyurethane or gelcoat?

That pretty
I got to tell you I hope that these guys that you're doing the work for give you a huge gratuity
Do you do any gel coat on top of that or is this paint strong enough by itself? Looking to paint my boat this same flag blue.
Just paint buddy. Definitely strong enough 👌
new viewer. Beautiful job. Can you tell me what finish is on the wood trim?
I'm out in Southern Maryland and looking to paint my 37 sliverton. I want a brilliant white. Is it more expensive for other colors and who did that paint Jin cost on this sail boat?
Nice work, one question, why 1k glaze and not 2k polyester?
hi i wanr to complete repaint my 2003 fairline targa 48 to dark gray can you tell me how much paint and primer do i need and what paint you you recomend??
If i am not able to spray dobto my small garage can i roll paint and get Good finish im looking at 18ft olimpic
How long did that take you? Surely not just one day?

may I ask how much to paint bottom pains for Farr 1990 73 foot, with anti pains
What pound of pressure on the compressor or paint gun
Between 15-20 psi at the gun if I remember correctly.
Can you apply awlcraft 2000 under the water line?
It is not recommended but people do do it. It’s not as big of a deal if the boat stays on the trailer or boat lift and is only in the water for a day at a time. You do not want to leave the boat in the water for days at a time
Frankie how much you charge for a job like that?
CAN SOMEONE HELP?! IM PAINTING MY BOAT AND ITS NOT SPRAYING SMOOTH IT LOOKS TEXTURED. IS IT NOT THIN ENOUGH?
There are multiple reasons why it could be textured. Too much paint and not enough air, didn’t sand the primer completely smooth, not enough thinner, too big of a spray cap, etc.
@@boatpaintingrestorationwit3029 yes after having done this now, I don't think I used enough thinner.
topcoat?
