- Prepping and painting the bootstripe. Taping, masking and spraying with Awlcraft 2000. Only thing left to do is the bottom but someone else will be knocking out that task👌
Hey Frank fellow painter here, and as always, and im sure you'll agree, its nice to see someone take pride in your art. Miss your content and hope all is well. And look forward to your content return.
Been missing seeing your content. Hope you are well. I am neither a boat owner, nor a painter, but your videos were informative and entertaining. Thank you for time you took to share your craftmanship.
Been painting for a lot of years and didn't think of light spray to seal the tape to help prevent bleed through.
thank you.
Awesome job as always. True craftsman. Hope all is well cant wait for more videos.
That came out absolutely gorgeous. Nicely done sir.
Appreciate the contents and talents
Amazing work Frankie
Great to see a master craftsman at work. She look beautiful.
Looks amazing, can't wait to see it complete
Beautiful boat. Beautiful paint work. Can’t wait to see it in the water. Maybe I’ll be lucky enough to see it out on the Bay.
Well done cobber, another beautiful result
Can’t wait to see her in the water!
Just subscribed to your channel after seeing this boat! You sir are incredible!! That boat is like glass and looks amazing!
Beautiful job Frankie, if ever I need my boat painted I will be coming to see you!
Same. I painted my small lobster boat using only what I learned from Frankie's videos. Would hire him for my big boat. Grateful and hope you're not done showing your craft.
I tried to get a smooth line for a boot stripe...came out looking like modern 'art' made from triangles. 😂 You're a master, Frankie!
Impressive as always.
Hopefully when I finish building the house I'll get back to the boat which was stripped and prept, ready for paint .
Thanks for sharing Aloha
Awesome job brother good to hear from you.
Smashed it Sir, pretty work
thanks again . good show.
Master Craftsman!
Beautiful work Frankie ! Can u do striking a waterline tutorial ? Thx
Post up some more videos! I am digging the laid back, yet super informative style. Also really cool to see the final product!
Thx! I’m going to be putting up more videos asap. Shouldn’t be much longer 👌
What kind of air compressor do you use?
Gday mate that is something , only 4 in the world and now you have your mark on one of them you should sign it take care .
Man, you did a heck of a job on her paint. That blue looks pretty amazing. What blue and brand is it? Your finish looks flawless. Just discovered your video series. Great information
Hello, Frankie I really enjoy watching your videos. I do have question for you . I just bought a used boat and the gel-coat on the inside of the boat is pretty faded. Do you think painting it will stand up to the abuse of walking on it or should I wet sand and buff it out. I going to use the boat for fishing only?
Nice
I cant get my head around how to choose the best white shade from Awlcraft 2000 for the topsides and deck of my Shearwater 45. I dont like the "cream" shades but am afraid that the bright white can look like a refrigerator. Frankie, do you have advice?
Frankie, with the cost of the nozzles, would you still recommend the accuspray gun for an occasional user? Also, what style compressor do you suggest for spraying and DA sanding? Love your channel.
What psi do you spay at?
What's up everybody?!
Recently painted a mast from a sailboat and I got orange peel used awlgrip air pressure was at 35psi 25% reducer 1:1 mix nice and sunny day 65-70 degrees any tips on what my psi should be at and why this orange peel was happening everything was done correctly over 545 primer and read the application guide for reassurance used a gravity feed hvlp 1.4 tip.
Sorry it didn’t lay down like you were hoping. There’s multiple reasons why you could have gotten orange peel. Depending on conditions determines what air pressure I use when spraying. 35 psi is high. Generally when I spray I have between 20-25 psi when trigger is squeezed. It would have to be really windy for me to be spraying at 35 psi. Did you sand the 545 nice and smooth with 320 as the finish sand? Also too much air flow and not enough paint flow could cause it but you would also probably have some hazing as well if not enough paint flow. Not enough air flow and too much paint flow will also cause it. Multiple reasons why you could have gotten the finish you did.
@@boatpaintingrestorationwit3029 yea that psi was very questionable I’ve never painted any sort of paint other than gelcoat and we all know as long as your gelcoats thick your fine but paint is so much thinner and more of a sensitive material you need perfection I’ll try 20-25 with proper air and paint flow I’d love to see a video about the spray gun and how you can regulate it to be perfect as in showing patterns and what not love the videos and they are very helpful with the mixing and spray movements 25% reducer is a sweet spot because even tho I had some orange peel it smoothed out and was nice and shiny but of course I wasn’t happy about it thank you!
@@boatpaintingrestorationwit3029 Appreciate your thoughts on orange peel. Wondering why you sometimes choose Awlgrip products vs Alexseal .... Is it customer choosing the product?? I assume the customer would go with your recommendation....
Hi
Please tell me what spray gun are you using in this video?
3M accuspray
and the last question. How many millimeters of nozzle are you using here?
Trying to find someone that is able to paint my boat with some dark Grey metalic flake, is this something that you are capable of?
Yes. After laying clear on heavy flake will require wet sanding and polishing. Just a bit more time consuming
Hey Frankie where do you work out of?? I'm in southern Maryland and need a paint job
Rappahannock yachts in irvinton va. 👌
@@boatpaintingrestorationwit3029 awesome! Thanks Frankie
Great job! Tricky around the stern, good eye!
Frankie how do I reach you to discuss if you would be interested in painting an Erickson located in the Northern Chesapeake area?
804-438-5353. Sorry for late response! Just now seeing this. A lady name star will answer the phone and you will want to speak with Bruce. Hope we can get you taken care of 👌
any new videos coming up?
I will be doing some more soon. All kinds of life changes have been happening and it’s prevented me from making any more videos this past year. Everything from family to health. I’m not done with the videos just had to step away for a bit.
Thx-Frankie
Hope you get back at it soon. You have a gift!
3 MONTHS AGO 😮???!!!!!!!!
Yep. Lol. I’ve got more videos coming!! I’ve just had to much going on lately with personal stuff as well as working with owners on projects too big to try and video the process 🥴 bare with me 👌
Do you work for the yard or independent?
