- I had so much trouble out of this thing that I didn't bother to take it apart on camera.

I watched this because I was curious how the reassembly compared with my EliteBook 2730p which I think was manufactured in 2008. More than 10 years ago I took it apart to max out the RAM and replace the HDD with an SSD. I remember there being a lot of screws for the 2730p too. I don't recall the antennae situation being difficult. There were a couple of places it was a little tricky, but fortunately I had found some good instructions on the internet that allowed me to avoid the pitfalls.
I still use my 2730p to take notes and mark up documents (grading and slides). It is a convertible with a Wacom screen/pen. It came installed with Vista. Now I have Debian LXQt installed for the OS/Desktop . I have been wondering if it is worthwhile getting a newer EliteBook. Based on your video, if I have to disassemble it to upgrade anything, I think I will avoid the hassle and buy it already "tricked out" or buy something else. Or I might just use the old one until it falls apart.
That was interesting. I can't help but wonder why it doesn't work assembled. Have you tried assembling it without the battery ? I have an old Toshiba laptop that has terrible heat management. I always joked that I can cook some eggs on it. Well, after about 2 years of pretty heavy use, the battery died. That means that it simply doesn't work, doesn't boot if I have the battery connected, even if I'm also plugged to the wall. If I remove the battery all good. I never bothered getting another battery for it (but I'm not using it anymore either).
If it's not the battery ... I wonder if it's something pushing too much on something maybe ? Hard to believe though. Especially without seeing traces/signs/evidence of too much forced being used.
I'm not a fan of laptops at all, why well one SO Not easy to work with, give me a freaking large Tower instead and air or liquid cooled. Now that I can work with and maintain far more easier.
Which brand laptops easier to fix ?
HP laptops have the worst design of all
Elitebooks without MXM graphics = Sh!tBook
