The X1 Carbon better quality but less flexible and you pay a premium price for it. I just wish Lenovo would release an X1 Carbon without soldered RAM. I used to work for HP and there are a couple of reasons for why they have large product lineups. First, they sell well over 60 million computers a year which means the customer range of needs is wide and varied. Second, larger lineups create variances which make it more difficult for the average consumer to make direct price comparisons between HP products and their competitors.

    • @ASPushkin51
      @ASPushkin51 3 года назад

      @@summerrr1 You probably were not exposed to the internal workings of Laptop business. HP comes to the scene when all decisions about design, components, reliability, etc. are already made by Taiwaneese. They can either accept the production model for distribution or pass. Accordingly, if there is a fault in the design, they know nothing about troubleshooting it. It is not a product designed and made by them.

    • @Derek-tk4wf
      @Derek-tk4wf 3 года назад +4

    One big problem with the current design of the Probooks and Elitebooks is the keyboard... not that they're bad, they actually type quite good... but it's when you have to replace one. We've got a couple of hundred laptops with the current design and what we have to fix most on the HP laptops are the keyboards... that used to be a very simple job; back cover off, two or three screws and push through a hole to pop it out. Now the keyboard is integrated into the cover of the case which means a replacement costs a lot more to begin with, but you also have to completely disassemble the laptop to replace it because everything screws into it. A bad business decision... before HP would just send us a replacement keyboard and we would replace them ourselves because it took only 5~10 minutes. Now they have to send somebody to repair it and the repair takes more than an hour.

      My opinions aside, you can only get random laptops with AMD. T14/T14S (no 15" models) X13, and E14/E15 which historically the E series is crap. This year is the very first time in Lenovo history that the T or E series has a metal chassis. Hopefully the internals don't fail as easily as in the past on the E series.
      You can't get a P series (the high performance ones), the X1 series (the good performance ultrabook), or a Yoga (the 2-in-1) with AMD. You get E (budget), T (mid-tier business) or X (budget ultrabook)

      these ultrabooks are waaaaay to expensive for what they offer. hp themselves have compepitors in their lineups. I have an hp pavilion gaming laptop 15. it has a ryzen 5 3550h and a gtx 1050 3gb. it was only 700 dollars in best buy and I got: all the ports I need (barrel jack 2 usb a 1 usb C audio combo jack, Hdmi, sd card reader, ethernet jack) that bang & olufsen speaker. 2 ram slots, an m.2 slot and a 2.5 slot, A DEDICATED GPU , a backlit keyboard. a nice screen, beefy cooling, an awesome keyboard with numpad, and the design is reasonably thin and light, it's somewhat like the 3rd laptop but with a wider screen and it also doesn't scream gaming, it's sleek black and the color accent is in the backlight that you can turn off. It basically has all of the nice things that the laptops that linus showed have. but it's way cheaper and has a dedicated gpu. I'm sure that they'l update it with a 4th gen and a 1650 or something

    First, Fuck HP.
    HP is one of those 80/20 companies that's skirting the law by producing so many different SKUs of products with minor variations and then bidding out as much shelf-space in retail stores as they legally can in order to choke out competition on raw volume. I cannot condone or abide such business practices. If you're confident in your products HP, then you wouldn't need to do that.
    Second, thank you for supporting AMD's push into the laptop market. This is a much needed addition to the diversity in the market. This is what ACTUAL product variance should be. Not plus or minus bits of I/O, battery capacity, RAM, storage configuration, trackpad location, 5+ different colors, and 3+ different sizes of screens and panel types. Save the niche variants for online sales, keep only core product on the retail shelves, and show off that performance value compared to your competition. Then this praise won't be tainted by anti-competitive business practices that have the adverse effect of denying retail store customers more options in the market.
