I did this battle without knowing that in phase two he has a one shot ability. And when he had just only a sliver of health left he walks up to ichiban and one shots me. I got so angry I started cussing every word I knew in Arabic before calming down.
I have fought him twice (story and ng+) and he has never used his oneshot ability. He does the pointing upwards with purple energy thing, but does nothing with it, next turn he goes back to flailing his arms with the orange dragon behind him.
This fight was hell for me since I was only level 54 when I fought him. I spent 4 hours constantly fighting him over and over again until I finally beat him

I took the boring route and grinded in the arena until level 60. It made the fight a lot more manageable.
Weird. I didn't do any grinding and I was level 60 exactly when I got to this part
