    I learned the channel lock method 10 years ago.
    Get a pair and wrap electrical tape around the jaws so you don't bite into the polymer. Squeeze the bottom of the mag with channelocks in one hand, and press down the tab with a punch and slide the plate out.
    Game changer!

    I use a small inexpensive c-clamp to apply pressure on each side under the retention tabs. Then just slide off like any other magazine. Makes life much easier especially with the Glock single stacks.

      c-clamp is for weak hands, I can disassemble any Glock mag with a Glock armorers tool, it just takes a little practice

    Thanks for having integrity and showing two methods instead of just trying to sell a product. I previously watched a video from a well-known RUclipsr and he only used the special tool from the company sponsoring his video. Just another reason to use Brownells!

    Just a thought: Safety First. I'd wear safety glasses when disassembling anything with a spring under tension, but that's just me. By the way, that tool from Fix It Sticks looks like it'd make a nifty bottle cap remover!

      I thought that when I was little. That the alphabet groups showed people how to do things right. The atf would show how to use guns right and to make stuff right. I was way off.

    I struggled bad when trying to get the floorplates off with just a punch and ended up damaging them. Good thing I was only taking them off to put on an extension. I will purchase the tool if I ever need to do that again.

  • @roul3688
    @roul3688 10 месяцев назад +7

    Oops. I used a c-clamp to apply slight pressure to the base of the mag body and pull the baseplate off like any other mag. The slight pressure squeezes the tab out of the locking notch slightly allowing you to remove the plate

    I've always squeezed the sides of the magazine down by the base, to let the base pull off freely.
    I do have a 10 round G19 magazine that I have never been able to get apart.

    I actually made a similar tool out of a small pair of channel locks, mig welder, and a piece of metal tubing stock. It’s wasn’t because I really needed it and wanted to rebel against buying a tool, I just wanted see if it would work and it did.

    Glock could and should make a magazine floor plate that isn’t a pain in the arse to remove.

    do it.
    Why can’t you, Glock?
