I just want to share....our nephew lost his house to a fire 2 years ago in October. It was in the depths of covid and material costs were so high! Finding a contractor and a crew was hard! He had a heart attack with open heart surgery....then he had a tumor in his back and back surgery. It's been a tough 2 years. He had to move in before his house was 100% finished about 7 weeks ago. He was really down! We tried to help with his yard, fence, etc. He got his spark back. Flooring and cabinets are going to be finished by the EOM. He gave us the best compliment the other day.....I want this house to be simple...not so much stuff! I'm learning so much from you and Uncle S. Thanks Joshua....I think we are seeing a ripple effect! I've got him watching your videos!
Man, just when I think I've decluttered enough, I keep finding new things to get rid of. Just got another bag full of stuff! This is so much fun and brings more and more relief ... Minimalism is EXACTLY what I've been needing to find all these years. I'm so insanely happy now.
@@ronaldsneek You got this!! I have JUST got to the point where I feel very satisfied and content with everything I have declutered. I have minimised enough and now I'm a total peace! I know exactly what I own and I've surprised myself with the things I've been able to get rid of - no regrets!
At 60 I wish I had had this mindset much earlier as well. There was no talk of living a simple and minimalist lifestyle. I’m trying now but it’s a lot more difficult at this age because of health issues and the amount we’ve acquired over a lifetime.
Yes Debbie. It’s a lot more challenging now that I am 65 already and i have health issues. However, i have been inspired by Joshua even prior to the 2020 pandemic. And so, I have decluttered a lot already. And am so glad that my youngest daughter has been into decluttering lately. Thank you Joshua for your videos.
I live alone in my small simplified home. I work full time, and I have so much time to relax, do things I enjoy, and tackle projects, like sorting through boxes of family photos, like I’m doing right now....and I can do this project without feeling like I’m making a huge mess! Thanks, Joshua!
Thank you Joshua.Another great video. My husband & I went minimalist about 2 years ago & we love it.We are in our seventies & life is so much easier & less busy.😊

Yep - 100 here too, and has been close to it for weeks. The house *should* be immaculate! It's not, but it's on its way. Sometimes it's just too hot to think.
I am just now beginning my minimalist journey...at 66. I fully understand how the "stuff" has added to my stress and financial anxiety. I have possessions in storage that I haven't looked at in years! How foolish! I currently don't live alone, but as I prepare to have another home of my own, I am slowly going through my things. I want the next chapter of my life to be simple and full of peace. Thank you, Joshua.
Was just saying to my daughter yesterday how when we are younger we want want want stuff, then as we get older we want less less less to make our lives easy and homes simple to manage, been on this journey for last 3 years. I'm 51 now but wish I had found this way of living sooner but better late than never 😊
thank you. im older now and alone after 61 years of marriage and need less stuff actually love cleaning out gives a free feeling. Love being quiet and less busy and realizing i can do what i want. It can be daunting to know what to clean out however.
I have friends who seem to be doing laundry ALL the time. Since I have adopted the minimal lifestyle, laundry takes me a total of six minutes - which includes loading the washer, throwing a soap pod in, putting the clothes into the dryer and taking them out and folding the few items that require it. Trying to get it down to five minutes, but six works for now!
You know you're too busy when you change the playback speed to 1.5 so that you can get through youtube videos quicker because you've got too much to do. 🙁
Wonderful video! The other day I was listening to The Minimalists saying something like this: being busy is being out of control and your video really helps to put things in perspective. Hugs from South America!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I love your content! Your simple steps help my ADD brain. The whole concept of “ messy minimalism” (about not having clear walls or etc) did NOT help me.. I needed to be told to get rid of my clutter and figure out why I had it all to begun with. That’s the only way that has worked for me to obtaining the less is more lifestyle. Thanks to you !! 🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️
I love the comment intentionality sparks intentionality. It is too easy to buy items when they are so assessable. I grew up in a small home and we had the basics and did good. I live in a house 3 times the size I grew up in and never feel caught up. I don’t know how and when the change happened.
I work 6 days a week (5 at a full time and Saturdays helping my friend with his landscaping company) and even though I work more hours than most people that I know, I don’t feel overwhelmed. Prior to taking the second job I had cut back on my possessions and spending and I don’t feel ever feel like I’m not keeping up. I love my Sundays off and am never behind on chores. The money doesn’t hurt either 😅
I just got back from a trip in which I drove 7 hours to get home. I listened to your audio book, Less is More all the way home. Enjoyed your book and the ideas/ stories as it kept me entertained all the way home. I have also listened to your newest book, Things that Matter and also so enjoyed it. Thanks
It took me a couple of years to break away from mindless shopping. It only really took hold after 3 years of decluttering and simplifying. That dopamine rush from shopping is real. But, finally, the grace of simplicity broke the cycle for me. I am grateful

My toxic parents. You just described them. The martyrs of busyness. After I cracked under the strain of all of it I rebelled against it. I was raked over the coals for sure for it by them. After so long being insulted for being “unproductive” or “not contributing” I no longer cared what they thought anymore. Best thing that ever happened to me was falling off of that hustle, go getter, over achieving, perfectionistic horse and I don’t ever want to go back. It was attached to a fam business. I soon discovered that 24/7 on call entrepreneur life just wasn’t for me at all. I began to relish the idea of not being the “wizard” of anything (such as high stress or boss positions etc) and I relished the idea of having a job that I could forget about the moment I clocked out. And not pick it back up until it was time to go to work again. And then said work would not be everyone bringing their most difficult problems to me to have to solve for them. I loathed it bcuz you really could not escape it, even if you were at home trying to just relax for awhile. Everyone was just after you all the time with all their “pressing” problems and needs. Granted you have to do this as a parent and I’d gladly hunker down for that Bcuz it’s very important. But do I really need to add 24/7 high stress job to that? I think not.
Thank you Joshua for your advice! Your ideas are inspiring and eye opening. Came across your videos while recovering from a back surgery and though couldn’t do a lot of cleaning right away, it has helped a lot in having a new look at possessions and sharing. Thank you and may God bless you!
I love having more time to focus on things that are important to me. I don’t miss the stuff. Also I no longer feel the need to remodel the house to have the latest version. Things are clean n neat and I have time to relax. YY for minimalism!
I so agree with you. I now live in a smaller hoise, with less stuff and yet, 8 years down the line - i am still decluttering. But my simplified life allowed me to take a long walk home via a beautiful route and keep to my values by buying milk from an eco shop in my own bottle rather than buying it from a supermarket in a plastic one. Better for the environment and btter for my mental and physical health - all thanks to minimalism.

Joshua, do you take topic requests? I was wondering what your thoughts were about pros and cons for upgrading things in home, not for the sake of being high maintenance or trendy but more about safety and functionality or even just a little more visual appeal. I would love to hear thoughts about making decisions on what and how to prioritize instances. What do you consider most important and how can we make sound decisions when considering various improvements? How can we convince ourselves what perhaps an upgrade is really not needed? I would love your input.
I upgrade if it makes sense overtime and saves me money like buying reuseable plates and more silverware vs having to rebuy paper plates and silverware for company to use it just makes sense, but I do not keep it with our daily use things
The powers that be want us stressed and busy and most of all buying stuff! Break free you'll be SO much better off!
🍀🍀🍀🍀clean and tidy…I love for video style - it lends to a very minimalist approach, I’m sure this is all part of the plan too 😊
Cool 😎 guy
Thanks. So well articulated.

I'm trying my best to minimize my home for comfort and less stress. Problem is i have 2 others in my home who are the opposite. One is messy and the other keeps everything and both leave everything everywhere. Any tips on how to deal with it?
Tell them to get out if no change within 1mth
Have them keep all their 'clutter' in their own space, out of your sight, not in the shared spaces. (Assume they have own rooms?)
Hi, can I ask you what you do in your free time at home and outside home?
Thanks, Joshua! This ties in well with Cas’ video (Clutterbug) this week on what your clutter is costing you.
I love your videos! They're always short and to the point but full of valuable information!
Glad you like them!
I always look forward to your positive messages
I’m all for minimalist wardrobe but don’t agree that less clothes equals to less laundry. After all there I will only wear 7 outfits and 7pjs in a week
It’s true. You’ll still wear clothes every day. But a simplified wardrobe is easier to launder than a complicated one.

How can we increase our productivity sir can you list out the work, tasks and ways to increase our productivity.
Well, that would depend quite a bit on what you are trying to be productive about.
Less = More of what’s important ❤

Beyond grateful to you, Mr Becker & for ur vids. Truly inspiring especially at this time when i see nauseating numerous unboxing vid. I know it’s a slow process to be a minimalist but at least try coz our mother earth , & the world is full of trash causing climate change affecting our health & so on. Indeed , if we live in alignment to God’s purpose we will be mindful of what truly matters.🌍🫶🏼
Yes, I feel sich with all the stuff I see at other people's homes or, like you said, how some show all the things they buy. I just keep wanting to get rid of m8re and more even though I've already got rid of most of my stuff already.
