Very good! This is definitely an excellent, useful, tip. Thank you!
Thank you!
@@askkotso7241 Sounds like its a counterfeit SD card, they are very common now. I would stop that transfer, connect an external hard disk drive or SSD that you know to be good and try again, just to make sure that everything else is OK.
Restart the system. If you keep getting these errors that usually means you have some 3rd party software installed that is interfering with the operating system. They usually are installed into utility folder, try to find it and uninstall it, software like Tuxera NTFS or Mounty App
@@askkotso7241 Test it on a different system, it really has the symptoms of a counterfeit card, if you verify that its the system then boot up in Safe Mode and try again, if it then works then its a third party extension or an app that you added which is causing the problem.
It was working fine but after i unplugged my hard drive and tried to open it again my hard is empty. Please help me to fix it? I don’t want loose my wedding video 😢😢😢
Buddy, I finally found somebody who knows how to explain something complicated in a very easy way. You fixed my problem. Thank you!
I've struggled with this issue for months and you were super clear and helpful to get it solved. Thank you!
You are precious, I've been trying to figure this out all day, from going on the terminal and typing in endless things to trying to give myself permission to write on the hard drive. I can't believe how simple this was! Thank you, you've earned yourself a subscriber
It’s 6 am and I was panicking for hours and this guy literally just saved me!
It worked! Thank you so much for this tutorial. I was getting really frustrated with this issue and I thought it would be a much bigger pain in the ass to fix than it actually was. This video was a life saver, very easy to follow, even for those of us who can be a little technologically challenged. Thank you again!
THANK YOU SOO MUCH!! you dont know how many times I had a meltdown over this, and i finally solved the problem thanks to u!
This is the best video I watched about this so far! I've been having so much trouble with this and the tutorials online make me even more confused. You're awesome. Thank you!
I wish everybody else would explain things in such simple yet informative manner. THANK YOU!
Thanks! You're a lifesaver. Finally got my seagate to work with my MacBook Pro again.
Saved me, thanks so much! I had to restart my computer after installing to get Mounty to work, this might be the case for others.
You are the best! Everyone is talking about how to transfer to external hardrive but if the grey things is there..... nobody was talking about this issue . Thanks a lot!
Super Useful! Quick and to the point. Solved my saving and formatting issue. Best thing to happen with work today!
I literally had a video meant to go up tomorrow and it wasn’t saving coz my disk was full and I was worried coz my hard drive wasn’t taking the file in but thank god ur video helped
I tried reformatting on the mac but it said “erase failed” so i plugged it back into my Windows pc and it automatically asked to format it to ExFat. Few clicks, plugged it back into my mac and it works great. Am able to transfer! Thanks so much!
Thanks so much for creating this video! Had an external hard drive that I had in college that I used on Windows to store photos and I am trying to store documents on it from a Mac now. I was so afraid I was no longer able to use the hard drive when I used barely 1GB out of a 500GB hard drive! Such a life saver!
Alex, this video was very helpful and it worked. I was having trouble saving onto my external hard drive - was ready to purchase another when I thought I'd do a little investigation first and found your video. 👍 🤗 Thank you!
Mate you just saved my album- cheers!
Welcome

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH, very much appreciated you explained it clear and simple thoroughly, I've been stressing over this problem for a long time and now I finally know how to do it
Awesome vid, where do you recommend me back up all the files I have in my hard disk if I don't have enough storage to keep it in my desktop? Thanks
I am having that same issue. Not sure where to store them as my external hard drive has almost one TB used and I don’t have a lot of storage on my laptop to store them when formatting.
Same happened to me just then. PLEASE HELP!
i literally just got a new hard disk for this
Hey, thank you for the tips! I've downloaded the mounty app, but when i tried to re-mounted my external disk, it said that my external disk isn't re-mountable. Do u know how to fix this? Thank you
i also have the problem :( can some body please assist @save apple dollars please reply
just had the same problem. and now it won't let me delete this stupid app cause apparently it's open all the time. This was a total waste of time...
See BlackOut GStar 's comment down below, worked for me.
@@candycolor10 Same thing happened to me. I restarted my computer to reset everything and then I was able to delete the app.
I’m new to MacOS and I’ve been struggling with such minor irritating issues, thank you very much for your detailed explanations… you’re a life saver
Thank You! That was a simple fix.
I knew about reformatting, but I didn't want to spend the time transferring the content back and forth. Lots of stuff on the drive. Mounty did the trick. I really appreciate the video.
this works
you might get an error that drive is unmountable
you have to plug it back in windows computer. safely remove drive
plug back in mac. in mounty do remount
Absolute legend! I was about to give up until I read your comment!
thank u soo much. even i was about to give up until i saw ur suggestion
Legend man
You just saved me !!!!
You saved me !!!!!!
Hey After I mounted Mounty I lost all files on my hard drive why is that? is there anyway I can get my files back? Please help.. Very Urgent!!!
Same!! I AM SO UPSET EVERYTHING IS GONE
Uninstall mounty and remount the drive from disk utility. Don’t worry you didn’t loose anything, mounty will not wipe your drive.
Mounty is just a mounting utility, it doesn’t modify your hard drive in any way.
@@GRIBSOFT I just did both but the drive still appears to be empty, showing no folders once I open it up. I had photos from the last 15 years on there!
@@jesuisnickie1252 Did you get your photos back? Mounty can corrupt your drive. better not to use it
Thank you, this was so easy to follow and easy to fix. great video
Thank you SO MUCH! I am a college Graphic Design student / professional and this helped me so much! You are a life saver! Much Kudos to you!
I get "no NTFS Volumes to re-mount"
I get the same thing too 😐😐😐😐
@@ConVersaa I get hard disk non remountable!!!WTF!!!
Mounty corrupted my external :( and all the files disappeared :(
uh oh
Based on my experience, it sounds like the drive was already compromised. I'll put it this way, if you take a dying patient to the hospital and they don't survive, the doctors didn't kill them. You can try other software to try and recover files if they have been corrupt. Take a look at this video, and I promise this will be a big chance to get all your stuff back ruclips.net/video/rb19xM4egzQ/видео.html
That’s what I’m worried about. I don’t have another place to backup my external yet
Clearly presented and hugely helpful - thanks for uploading!
THIS is exactly what I needed, and you explained it so simply with extremely helpful step-by-step visual instructions. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Imagine having to Google "how to move a file to a SD card"
The absolute state of Apple and its rabid fans.
Life saver!! I've been sitting on this new 2T hard drive for months now. You've made my life just a little bit easier, thank you!
Thank you so much for the help!! Really appreciate the clear and easy to understand instructions, didn't feel like my head was gonna explode

Thank you so much for this. Simple, precise and easy to follow.
Thank you, this has been my problem for a while now, others explain it so complicated, im glad i found your video!
hi, please I want to ask a question. I'm using a Mac ,I don't have enough space for the backup , my external disk is 1tb and the files size are about 330gb . meaning I need another hard disk with that capacity to keep my backup if so, if I buy new hard disk and erase the file format to EXFAT , can I transfer my backup file and then finally get to erase the old hard disk to EXFAT。 I need some clarity if it would work perfectly
THANK YOU! You have saved my life, trying to put all of my photos on an external hard drive before I get my new laptop tomorrow. First I thought this was an issue with the hard drive, but you have saved me! Thank you!
Thank you for this video! Very easy steps to follow and the permanent change was a success!

Thanks a lot, very useful and well explained!
after using the mount app, the external hard drive doesn't show up any more in the side bar! How to fix this? so I can't directly save it to the external hard drive I can just copy paste files :(

Thank you, still relevant in late 2023. Reformatting drive to ExFAT worked simply and immediately. As he says, just make sure you are okay with losing anything already on the external drive.
I used the quick fix and it immediately worked. Thank you very much!
It really worked for me after I look and try some tutorials, yours is the one that worked. Owe you a lot.
Hi, may I know how to copy the contents from the hard drive to an external if imac had power failure?

Hi! After I click "Yes, sure" I get a pop up that says-- Volume "(null") not re-mountable. The volume is not re-mountable in read/write mode. Probably it was not clean unmounted before.
Help??
Any help? I have an old MacBook (2011)that won't update last os 10.7.5 and mounty says it needs 10.9 or later
Thank you very much for this video. I was trying to find a way to copy my files to my external hard and came across this. Super helpful. Thanks
Thank you!! This quick video saved me so much time! This really works!
Thank you, this was very helpful information. Your explanation is perfect for a non-techy like me, thanks for sharing!
Hi! I have a similar issue not sure if it’s the same. I have a seagate external hard drive that was partitioned into 3 sections one of them being Mac only files… I had no problem saving and creating folders until recently. It just stopped letting me save files. It seems it’s no longer “mounted” just that portion and I get a notice that says “macOS can’t repair the disk “Mac Only” and it’s saying to save and copy files. Is there a reason it stopped working randomly?! This is also happening to the other section I partitioned called “ Mac back up “ which I had atta he’d to the time machine. It’s also not working.
This was a big help. Thanks, man.
Man! I had a drive that was working fine, then all of sudden when I put another ext. disk on with WD elements it forces the seagate drive to read only. I can't get info and change it. It's all grayed out. I have 6 TB on that disk so would copying to my 20TB Elements drive using SuperDuper be ok? Is formatting to Mac Extended Journal like most disks ok too?
This seriously saved me! Thank you so much. This was a huge help!
For the Quick Fix with Mounty: Looked as though problem was solved & I was in the clear, then my files disappeared... it seems as though there is still used storage via Disk Utility, so any suggestions how to retrieve the files? Maybe they are currently unreadable & not eliminated?
