Facts! I just used it 💯 The power of youtube. I saw another video that was trying to get me to download an app from the website, I was like next and came across this helpful video
I was puzzled for about 30 minutes as to why I couldn’t move files to my newly purchased external hard drive, but you are the hero of today. Straightforward video with great explanations. Thank you!
7 years later and this video worked for me today. I have been looking for the right video for months. I was skeptical because my files are precious to me, but your video was a life saver. Now I can free up space on my devices and cancel subscriptions for extra storage space. Thank you Thank you!
This is 6years later. Came across your video today. Thank you so much. You’ve saved me from a week of frustration not being able to transfer to my drive.
Thank you very much for teaching us this! For years I have wondered why some external drives allow file transfer between both Mac and PC (these external drives were likely already formatted as ExFAT), or did not allow transfer of Mac files to the external drive (these drives were likely formatted as OS X Extended). Simple solution and great tutorial!
Seriously, after six months of trying all that I could, including other suggestions from youtube videos, this is the only video that specified the root of the problem why I wasn't able to transfer my Mac pictures on to my USB! Thank you so much for this valuable information.
Dude I RARELY comment on people’s videos but this one is a life saver. Thank you so much, even though the clicking felt like I was being tortured by the Chinese, I can finally transfer photos to my new hard drive. Thanks again!
Besides your voice being low (like everyone bashing you for lol) and the clicking being loud. The content of the video is actually helpful. I appreciate it
Hey guy making the video put the "WARNING" at the START of your video. You're not doing us folks lazy enough to read the video description any favours. I'm pissed cause you cost me a lot of money & time, not to mention permanent loss of some data. Thanks for your video & thanks to ios. The best! For real
Wow. I have spent twenty years using windows. I am not an expert by far. However my family usually relies on me for help. I have switched to an iPhone a few years ago. I love the freedom I have with sending video and pictures to my mom and dad. However my phone is full. I have battled transferring to my windows for over a year. Recently I bought an used Mac air. I could not believe how easy it was to back up my pictures. Well this is where you come in. I filled the max up. I tried to off load onto an external hard drive for hours. This was not working. I saw a video about a external hard drive that would work. I bought two LaCie 2tb drives. Figured I would make two back up copies. Again I was stuck. You got me accross the finish line. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I appreciate being able to watch and learn. I am now subscribed to your channel. I want to learn this Mac. Thank you again
Its really work ! *WARNING* transfer all your files in your harddisk first and then u can format. follow this step.it is so easy. 1.transfer all your files on your hardisk.whether to another harddisk,pc or to your mac if the storage is enough. 2.connect your harddisk with no files to your mac 3.click search on your mac (top right), type DISK UTILITY 4.click your external harddisk name then there is ERASE on top 5.click erase then choose format "ExFAT" 6.finish.u can transfer all your files on your harddisk. Thanks.
Thank you so much for keeping this video up! I just purchased a second hard drive and couldn’t use it on my Mac. Everywhere else I was searching didn’t explain the conversion steps well. This just saved me from returning or losing out on money!
Thanks for this video. I spent an hour on Google seeking an answer to this problem...no solution. Then when I opened RUclips your video was near the top of recommends!

This was super helpful, just made the transition from PC to MAC and a lot to learn! After seeing your video I decided to go out and buy a new external HD and not risk losing anything from my other one. Much appreciated!
I found this helpful to understanding why I couldn't move things and it was exactly the NTFS thing. I didn't want to risk deleting everything so I just used another flash drive that did work on the Mac to transfer my files onto there first and then used my Windows PC to transfer it from the small flash drive to my backup drive. A bit longer, but at least I have everything where I want it now!
